This place was extremely disappointing. I asked for the a French 75 and they were unsure how to make it. We got the sampler with shrimp ettoufee, jambalaya, beans n rice, and Gumbo. It was a complete waste of money. There is no meat in any of the dishes, simply rice and broth. Our server suggested that next time we order rice on the side. The music was good, but that’s really all they are offering.

Of all the stalls at the French Market, my friends and I enjoyed this establishment the best. Right in the French Market, so it’s lively, filled with people and there is ample seating all around. This place caught our eye as there was a small line at front. We reviewed over the large menu and ordered the étouffée and a Cajun po boy. We had the crawfish étouffée which was really, really good — the soup was delicious and they don’t skimp on the seafood. The cajun po boy was on delicious, soft bread and the fish was battered well and fried to a perfect crisp. Next time I’m in New Orleans, I’m coming back!

I walked until my legs were about to fall off before I ended up at the little flea market/food tents(I’m sure it has a name but I was about to fall over by this point) and saw and smelled so many great things. I got my alcoholic smoothie next door at Organic Banana and ordered my shrimp étouffée and a alligator po boy. I was incredibly disappointed at the étouffée! It was so highly recommended but when I took my first bite into it I realized there was no salt whatsoever. Not even a little bit. I thought I was eating rice porridge for a second. I had to go back up and pour half a bottle of hot sauce in it because the cashier guy disappeared into the back. The alligator po boy though… made up for it. It was so meaty and no, it didn’t taste like chicken. All of my salt must have ended up in this po boy so together the meal was good.

Not only is the food delicious, but the service and conversations are great as well. The people that worked there were fun to talk to and it made my food more enjoyable. Their famous po-boys are the Gator po-boys and the Catfish po-boys. If you like spicy, try the Gator one. If you have a nich for some Cajun saltiness, try the Catfish one.

You must stop by here in the French Market! If we would’ve found this place before our last day in New Orleans, we would have came back. My husband had the gator burger and I got the pulled pork po boy. My poy boy was seasoned so well, not drenched in sauce. There was a Cajun slaw on there as well. we ate at bar, and they gave us as many lemonade fefills as we wanted. This place is authentic and incredible!

Wonderful food, service, and people! Loved my gator burger! Great location and the prices are not bad at all. My wife said her pork po boy was the best thing she had had all vacation.

Attention everyone ever in all of the world: you can get VEGETARIAN cajun food in NOLA! I know, it’s unbelievable but you can, scout’s honor. I had the vegan red beans and rice which were soft and creamy and delicious. Albeit, not the best choice for the 100 degree day we were having but none the less, I was psyched. They were also offering vegetarian jambalaya too but the red beans and rice filled me up. My husband had the boudin and it’s all he’s been talking about for the last 3 days. It’s a little counter right in the French Market so the ambiance is bare but the guy working was friendly as heck and we enjoyed chatting with him.

YUM! Outstanding crawfish étouffée. Even better: catfish topped with crawfish étouffée! Surprisingly was some of our favorite foods of our trip! Loved it and loved the owner! We enjoyed this so much we ate there twice.

We moseyed over here because J’s Seafood Dock was out of crawfish. Thought the couple ahead of us was in line to order, but they were waiting to pick up their food. Waited a while before being acknowledged, as the guy behind the counter was busying chatting up the other clientele and avoided eye contact with us. We were contemplating heading to another spot instead, but he noticed us before that happened. We were starving and ordered the crawfish étouffée and jambalaya. Surprised at the small portion size for the price, but that’s what you get for being a tourist. The étouffée hit the spot on a chilly day, and the bread was perfect to make sure we soaked up every tasty bit. Can’t understand why the jambalaya, which was good but a touch dry, was accompanied by bread. No problem. Those bread slices went right in the étouffée as well!

Jambalaya was tasty AND vegetarian! In fact they had a whole section of the menu devoted to vegetarian fare. This is highly unusual considering the area. Mmmm

We enjoyed our lunch here. I had a alligator burger and my friend had the étouffée. We were satisfied with the food, and the chip selection is good. The fact that they have vegetarian options is great. We were given free refills on our lemonade(it pays to be nice and sweet to folks helping you). The day was an off day, maybe a Tuesday, so not too crowded and we were one of the only few customers there so we didnt have a long wait for the food. They also do catering and the staff is fantastic! We asked about dessert but there wasn’t any that day.

This is really a limited review, as all I ordered was the gator on a stick for around $ 9. Again the star off is for the price. The gator sausage tasted great, very mild flavor, nicely spiced. For 9 dollars though they could skip. the stick and go for the bun, just saying.

Ordered the Jambalaya, it was good, chicken was a bit dry but flavorful. I loved that I ordered this by myself and the lady taking my order handed me 2 forks and told me «great food is meant to be shared».

It is excellent for what it is. We ate there twice, once on Thursday around noon, once on Saturday around 2. The man who waited on us on Thursday was really friendly, the woman on Saturday was sort of rude and rushed. This is a tiny food stand in the middle of the market. You can sit on their wooden bar stools or take your food to the tables along the street. We ordered the pork poboy, vegetarian red beans and rice, and vegan jambalaya. My husband really enjoyed the pork poboy both times and the portion size was adequate for the $ 9 price. The vegetarian red beans and rice and vegan jambalaya were both $ 9 and had very good flavor, but the portion size is too small for the price, in my opinion. The vegan jambalaya was flavored rice with vegetables on top. They have $ 1 cans of pop, and lemonade for $ 3(with free refills).

I had the crawfish boudin. It was okay but I probably wouldn’t recommend this dish to anyone going here. It was just okay and there are definitely better things to eat in the area. I really like the atmosphere of the place though. Bustling but at the same time, relaxing and chill. At one point during my meal all of my responsibilities started flooding back into my mind which almost ruined the whole thing. But I was able to cooly ward that off by thinking LALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALA! in my head until it was impossible to hold another thought. Day saved.

Loved the food and the friendly staff and the layout. I wished I lived a little closer to NOLA. I am happy I was able to experience some good southern cuisine here. I had the chicken and sausage gumbo, and the bf had the pulled pork nachos(pretty unique) both were delicious. Prices were reasonable especially for the portion size and the fact that it’s located in the middle of the French Market. The cool thing I found was that they have Jolly Rancher soda! I haven’t even heard of that before.

Outstanding. I live in Vancouver, Canada which is a big foodie town, and I have to say that I’m a bit of a localvore food snob but this little market café is AMAZING. I ate in a five star restaurant in New Orleans, but it didn’t measure up to this wonderful little stand. The crawfish tacos rank up there with one of the best meals that I’ve ever eaten in my life. Juicy white fish with amazing creole sauce and sweet peppers. I will dream about them for years. I went back the next day and had the red beans and rice, which were excellent — and since my plane left Nola a few hours earlier than I wanted to, I’m going to dream about the Chef’s recommended crawfish étouffée that I didn’t get to try. Don’t let the tourist trap of a market scare you — if you’ve had enough deep fry and donuts, this is the place that will refresh your stomach and your soul.

Astonishingly, some of the best food that I’ve had in NOLA! The blackened catfish Po’Boy is amazing; and a deal(At least in this part of town) for $ 10.50. Looks like just another hole-in-the-wall kitchen, but has better food than many of the fancier and more expensive places around here.

Finally some decent food at this market. The prices are all pretty much $ 8.50 for most of the items. I have eaten here twice before and have only eaten two items. — Roast beef with debris po-boy: A very decent po-boy. The«debris» makes this otherwise below average roast beef po-boy a good eat. — Chicken and sausage gumbo: Gumbo wasn’t too flavorful but did have a good bit of chicken and sausage. All in all this is an improvement over what used to be here.
