Just drove by today and the place is no longer in business.

Great food and the cutest shop and neighborhood! Was here with a crew filming in the area. Bubby’s had just the food we were looking for in the middle of our long day and the sweet service made it even better. Portions are huge and made from the freshest ingredients and everything is sided with a delicious brownie! Great little picnic table outside to enjoy it at afterwards.

I live only 2 blocks away from Bubby’s and decided to enjoy the weather and walk on over. I had the chicken schwarma sandwich — made directly AND fresh to order AND he kept off the tahini and lettuce(and added crispy bacon). :0)) The sandwich came with a side of German potato salad and a moist brownie(mine didn’t have any nuts in it). The flatbread was fresh and grilled as was the chicken. Generous portions and friendly service. Currently, only cash is accepted and there is now a picnic table outside. The owner is planning on installing an indoor counter in order to «dine in». He also does catering on request. Best lunch I’ve had in a long time for under $ 10!!! :0))

Had the pleasure of a sandwich from Bubby’s yesterday, hand made by Bubby himself! I had the Cuban, which was crafted of thick slices of pork tenderloin, ham and cheese on Vietnamese«French» bread, then heated in a press. Pickles, mustard and mayo came on the Sammy, giving it an oh-so-nice flavor. Yum! Almost forgot to mention the light and zesty potato salad — not too sweet; not too sour — and the browney on the side. I’m not a heavy eater, and this made for two wonderful lunches! I would have given Bubby 5 stars, if be hadn’t run out of spicy mustard, which I prefer. If you are on the W’ank or in Algiers, its well worth the trip to Bubby’s!

UPDATE: The problem is simple, but huge: he’s never open. Even during published hours, the odds of him being open are extremely small. You can see from his Facebook page that people are often asking where he is, and sometimes he answers and says he’s open the next day, but it’s case by case. I highly recommend calling before hand(as does he) so that you know he’s there and you can place your order ahead of time. If you can catch him, congrats and enjoy your food, it’s good. But I’ve tried roughly 6 or 7 different days over the past 6 weeks and have not gotten through. It’s a shame, could be a really good place if it was run well, but it’s not.

Excellent sandwiches which all come with homemade brownies and German potato salad. I always call ahead and pick it up — the shop is very small so we always get ours togo. Bubby also delivers in Algiers Point. The muffaletta, turkey bacon avocado, and cuban sandwiches are all excellent. I’ve never been disappointed!

Wish I’d read the reviews before I stopped in there today. Nice enough guy. Smelled great in there. He was working on a new batch of potato salad when I went in. He said it would be 10 minutes, so I took the dog and the Girly back home and swung back by. Would love to tell you how delicious everything was but cash only and I only had a card. He was already making our sandwiched when I pulled out the card. He said he was cash only and hoped that wasn’t a problem. Sadly, it was. No cash at all and my bank is 30 minutes away. I felt bad because he seemed to be a good guy. I have every intention of stopping back in and trying his stuff. But I REALLY wish I’d read the Unilocal reviews about cash only… or else, as the business owner, he would post it on the door. Hope to go back soon.

We love Bubbys! Boyfriend got the chicken shawarma, and Bubby made me a delicious vegetarian sandwich. The white chocolate blood orange cheesecake is crazy good! Definitely recommend you stop in.

Delicious sandwiches made to order. The changing menu keeps choices fresh. The potato salad is awesome! You can see Bubby riding his trike to get fresh ingredients in the morning, or when he needs to restock during the day. A great place in a great neighborhood.

this place sells artisanal sandwiches just like the toute de suite, the only difference is that the toute has a dining room, better hours and is two blocks closer to the ferry. nonetheless, this chicken shwarma sandwich is A-OK. I reccommend getting it to go, unless you want to eat it off the curb outside(which i did) as they do not have anywhere for you to sit. also, if you’re like me, and you’ve been banned from toute de suite for mere flatulence, this is about the only place to get a fucking pretentious sandwich at inconvenient hours in a neighborhood that is slowly turning from«liberal Gretna» into«the Bywater of the uncool».

I’ve driven by this place at least three times. All the while I kept telling myself, I need to stop and check it out. I finally did that today. It was WELL worth it! The sandwiches are made fresh to order and come with a side of german potato salad and two little mini delicious brownies that were not ruined by adding nuts. I hate nuts in my brownies. I ordered the special of the day. It was a honey turkey that was freshly sliced on to fresh bread that is soft on the inside with a slightly crunchy outside. It also had freshly sliced avocado, swiss cheese and bacon. It was served up panini style. I could not wait to get back to the office to bite into it. It tastes just as good as it looks and smells. The offer other sandwiches and a vegetarian sandwich for those that choose not to eat meat. They also have a chicken ceasar salad and a spicy shrimp ceasar salad. The croutons are made fresh. Delightful place. It’s small and it’s a cash only establishment for right now. He said that he had plans to get a device that hooks up to his smart phone. So be safe and bring cash. All items on the menu were under $ 10. He also offers catering according to his business card. You would need to call him to discuss that.
