The place needs serious remodeling. The only reason I gave it 2 Stars because the service was good. The food was flavorless. We ordered the chicken Tacos and Enchiladas.

I went on a date here and it was so delicious. I ordered the Greek Salad with Shrimp. The salad was big enough for two people to share. I’ve never left a Unilocal review before but I knew I had to come on here to rave about that Greek Salad. Hands down the best salad I’ve ever had in my life. My date had the soup of the day and we also had chips and salsa dip. All were very good. The service was also fast and kind. Our server was a beautiful light haired woman who got us everything we need with a smile. There was also another beautiful woman who worked there that checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who looking great food and service!

First time going was with a crew for lunch. Food was awesome, short wait time and it was resonable. Large portions

This place is pretty good. The biggest draw here is the variety on the menu. They literally have something for everyone. They have parking and service was good but the atmosphere seems a bit cramped. The prices are very reasonable though making a good lunch spot of your nearby. The food was pretty good. Little one enjoyed her spaghetti the most.

A great place which definitely meets the definition of hole-in-the-wall. Brandon T. and I met for lunch. He lives in Kenner and I live Uptown so this place was good since it’s kind of midway. When we entered we were greeted with a friendly«sit wherever.» They don’t give you free chips and salsa but if you want them it’s something like $ 2. We opted for chips, salsa, and guacamole for $ 6 and the portions of guac and salsa were very generous, but they could have given more chips. The guac and salsa was very tasty and the chips were definitely better than the«free» chips other Mexican places give. I ordered the Tuna Taco which was $ 12 and some change. It was a tortilla with several pieces of tuna sitting atop a bed of cabbage and pico de gallo, topped with some kind of delicious sauce. They cooked the tuna exactly as I requested, as close to alive as possible since that is the best way to eat tuna. The pico had a great flavor and the sauce brought it all together. The tortilla did nothing to enhance the dish, and wrapping everything up would have been messy and probably would have detracted from the awesomeness the tuna brought to the table. It was really more of a tuna tostada, but was still delicious. I also ordered a strawberry margarita, which at $ 8 was a tad overpriced, but my god, that drink was… strong. Not much can be said for the surrounding area, but this is a good hole-in-the-wall.

I’ve eaten here many times but never tried the ribs. Ordered the ½ Thai and ½ BBQ and it was fabulous! The meat without any sauce is so flavorful. The sauce just adds to it. Overall, I like the Thai over the BBQ. I can’t believe I’ve been missing out on these great ribs this whole time!!!

Food is good. They are definitely better and cheaper than other Mexican restaurants around the area. Service was good also! The server brought us fresh made salsa when we were there. However, chips and salsa are paid items there. Also, I remember them having great pizza selections which they no longer has. Overall, the experience was okay.

Meh. Had a weekday lunch there with co-workers. Friends had been very happy with their experience here, but I wasn’t nearly so. Not that it was bad, just not great. Fish tacos dry and ordinary. Wait staff was so-so, definitely not trying very hard to earn their tip. Just not impressed overall. Other places within 5 minutes with better food, service and cleanliness. Kitch-y decorating doesn’t make up for the other shortcomings IMHO.

I love this restaurant!!! Dawn and the rest of the servers are great. My favorite meal is the dressed hamburger with extra pickles. They are huge and taste great. They are juicy and I believe they use a high grade of beef. The Italian Chopped Salad is good with or without green olives. I haven’t had the pulled pork sandwich but a friend of mine did and she really liked it. The only thing that is not to my liking are the french fries. I prefer fries like they serve at Mc Donald’s, light, thin and crispy. So bottom line, try out the Blue Tomato. You won’t be disappointed!!!

Live right next to this place. I love it. The selection of different kinds of food is awesome. I had one bad meal from there, but that was my fault. I was ignorant when I ordered. The atmosphere here is great. Service is great. The wait staff actually care and give great recommendations. I can’t even do a funny review on this place because I find it pretty professional and clean.

Food was okay. Don’t get the guacamole :(unless you like it watery. The pork burrito was very good. The refried beans as well. Steak was meh.

One of my favorite lunch spots in NOLA. The wait staff is friendly and know the menu, so if you’re not sure what to order, ask them to help you. My favorite is the fish tacos and spaghetti. I’m trying the cheeseburger for the first time today, because it just looks delicious!

Super average food in this place. Don’t believe the hype! Carnitas torta was over sauced and hard to manage. Good for pop in lunch but not impressive.

This place serves mexican and Italian food. Sounds sketchy(because usually a place can only get one type of food right), but the food taste so delicious and the staff are very friendly. Has a very local feel. Everyone in there, besides me, seems like they know each other. Love this place, it is my boyfriend and I’s new date spot. Perfect for when I’m feeling like queso and he wants Shrimp Alfredo :) they have queso with meat in it that taste like heaven. Parking kinda sucks, but you can always park across central in the Walgreens parking lot like I do and walk over. Not sure how happy Walgreens is with that but good luck and enjoy the food.

Blue Tomato, located in an old Time Saver building(you can tell from the brickwork outside), serves up big portions of Tex Mex, a few interesting variants such as the house specialty fish tacos, and Italian dishes that can be quite good. They also fix a fine burger. They offer a fairly wide variety of cuisines, though be warned that none are particularly light, and the service is fast and remarkably friendly. It’s a nice neighborhood place with a neighborhood feel that would be quite at home on US90 west of Houston if not for the smattering of competently executed New Orleans specialties.(Unfortunately, they gave up on muffalettas some years ago, but I still remember theirs as an outstanding example for those who like them hot.) Parking can be an issue.

Tried this place on a whim because I was in the neighborhood and craving fish tacos. I originally planned on getting my food to go but the waiter suggested I stay and eat at the bar. I’m usually not one for small talk and random chatter but, I must admit I’m glad I stayed. The grilled mahi mahi fish tacos were good but, like another reviewer mentioned, the shrimp taco was lacking. The house-made salsas however were great, so I smothered the shrimp in it that. At the waiter’s suggestion I substituted the refried beans for green beans and slaw. Very good decision indeed. Overall, the food was good, service was great, and I would definitely come back with friends/family.

Decent food, mahi mahi tacos were good, grilled shrimp tacos were bland. Rice and beans were ok too. Would give the food 7.5÷10

I am a hard customer to please, I’m picky and on top of that I like to get what I ordered and be tasty too. I love the Blue Tomato, I think it is one of the best kept secrets in our area. I finally managed to convince my kiddo to go and it’s now one of our favorite places to go. This is quite a distance for us to come as we live in Algiers and it’s all the way in Jefferson, but it’s worth every minute of the anticipation and traffic. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Garbage Can Nachos, they are absolutely amazing. They have everything in them, seasoned ground beef, beans, some sort of enchilada/chili sauce, lettuce, cheese, black olives, jalapenos and pico de gallo. I sub the pico for regular tomatoes because I HATE onions. They are served on a pizza pan and piled high and after indulging in the nachos, I cannot manage to eat anything else after, soooooo I am happy with just having nachos for dinner. I have had their cheeseburger po-boy, wow that was awesome and I tried the alfredo as well and I was expecting the noodles to be overcooked and soggy but I was delightfully surprised that they were not. My daughter will only order the Teriyaki Salmon they have she just raves and raves about it. I’ll take her word, I abhor seafood. I have only one item there that I will not eat and that is the coleslaw and that is only a personal issue I think, it’s not as sweet as I would like it to be. My only squawk is they close at 10:00 p.m. so I can’t enjoy them for a late night dinner, which is what I normally end up with since I work such long hours :(. Parking can be difficult if they are busy since they only have a place for 5 or 6 cars in front of the restaurant, but I would hardly consider that a deterrent in my book.
