I came here for the great reviews but I think the food could’ve been so much better. It’s all so dry and was literally okay. The service and décor are what get the two stars because you feel like you are in a high class Italian restaurant. The décor is absolutely beautiful and everything is so clean and there is so much space. The service is incredible and all the servers are so attentive to all of the customers.

Enjoyed the last meal of my vacation here. We were surprised upon arrival on a Sunday night that it was somewhat empty. We both ordered pizzas the Carminuccio and Salcissia e Provola. The Carminuccio does not come with mozzarella so make sure you ask for confirmation before you order if you like cheese on your pizza. Other than not having cheese it was a delicious pie. The sauce had lots of flavor and a lot of tang but wasn’t acidic. I found the crust to be a bit too thick and doughy for my preference I prefer a thinner crust. The potato pie was excellent, the seasonings used gave it a nice savory flavor. Prior to our mains we were given a basket of breads. The tomato focaccia bread included in the basket was excellent. Next time I would ask for just the tomato bread. Service was fast as the restaurant wasn’t full there were quite a few staff milling around.

I’ve come here multiple times with visitors and have always had a great experience. Whenever I come, it seems kind of empty but their food is amazing. I’ve ordered the La Cirilo pizza(Butternut squash purée, cream of truffle, mushrooms & fresh mozzarella) most of the times that I have dined here because it is really that delicious.

The service is spectacular, the waiter has refilled my water after every sip(about 8 times) and my friend clumsily dropped his knife and he had a new one before he could reach down to get it. Porkchops were amazing and pizza was fresh. Must go!

Stopped in for lunch during a December with my sister and son. Tried a couple appetizers — Brussels sprouts and potatoes — pan seared and very nicely done — then a dish that had squid ink and pasta — also good. The squid ink Tagliatelle at Domenicas in New Orleans is still my favorite. But still very good. Made a very good Boulevardier.

Freddy behind the bar is so good. Great service and friendly. He’ll also make honest recommendations from the menu. Decent menu and the food is fresh and tasty. So much to choose from. Will have to go back and work my way through the menu!

I couldn’t help but feel like I was eating in a tourist trap while at TZON. The restaurant is cavernous and has this faux interior that was more akin to what Orlando might interpret as Italian. The menu was similar… it was one of those fake authentic Italian menus. If you take a close look at it, it was Italian that a midwestern mom from Iowa expects in a real Italian restaurant. I’m being harse. Anyways the price is moderate and it matches the level of dining. Good for tourists, twenty-three year-olds on a date, and groups, but definitely not for me.

During the week, I came for lunch. This place has been on the 2012 and 2016 Michelin Bib gourmand list. I was immediately seated by the window. It was pleasant for people watching and enjoy the natural light. The crust of the Cirilo pizza was excellent. The toppings were fresh. The cheese was good. Nevertheless, I disliked the sweetness of the squash on a pizza. The service was efficient and friendly. The décor was classical. The restaurant was clean, including the restrooms.

Lapin and I came here the other day for a dinner. We made reservations for 7pm and were seated without any hassles. The restaurant had a cute décor and ambiance that made it feel like you are walking through Italy. We were given a bread basket with two types of bread. Hands down, the focaccia bread is the best choice. We ordered the Risotto Alla Pescatore($ 26) to share. The server was nice enough to split the appetizer between the two of us. Lapin and enjoyed it but I thought it could use a bit more salt but delicious, nevertheless. Lapin ordered the Ragu’ Salernitano($ 22) which he enjoyed. I ordered the Branzino Al Forno($ 26) which was tasty and cooked to perfection. However, with price tag of $ 26, I felt like it should have came with something else and not plated in a haste(Yup, Dr. Seuss in training!). For dessert, we ordered the chocolate cake($ 11 — $ 12), Cannoli($ 7 – 8), Hazelnut Gelato($ 7) and two cappuccinos($ 5 each). The desserts were delicious and rich. The cappuccino were strong and effective. They kept me wayyy passed 3am in the morning. The food is tasty but not in align for the price tag for certain items. The staff was friendly but a bit absent-minded and forgetful. We were never told the specials but another waiter spent 30 minutes talking about the menu and their specials to another table of two girls. They also charged our credit card twice for the same meal. Along with spending a good portion of time with empty water cups, dirty plates in front of us, waiting to order and get our food.

Freddie was the best bar tender host waiter whatever you want to call it. He serviced us in every way possible. I’ve never had a bar tender split the meal evenly between three people on their plates. Great job. Will definitely go back.

It’s a sleek place with nice ambience/intimate setting to go with family, on a date, or even for work. I went there with my department, and it was a lovely time to share about ourselves, also to enjoy each others’ company, and eat good food. I got the salmon with brussel sprouts, and it was delicious!

5-star service! They treat you like royalty. They’re warm, welcoming, and charismatic. They’re patient(we asked them to repeat the specials menu about 3 times) and willing to explain what items contain. Our server helped us with wine recommendations and checked on his often without being over bearing. He made our experience all the more fun with his personality! The food was awesome — I got the special fish dish(similar to bronzino) and my friends both got the special truffle pasta dish. Worth nothing: my friend was on a budget and didn’t realize the truffle pasta dish was $ 35 — ask for prices on the specials if you’re in similar situation! Overall, a wonderful experience and I’ll be back.

Upscale Italian restaurant located in the Flat Iron district. I got here as they opened which I like to do because this usually guarantees great service. When you walk through the doors and enter the restaurant the décor is meant to be a journey through the streets of Italy as you reach your table. The walls are made to look like brick on a building in a town with vintage posters on them. They set off this décor with a very romantic ambiance that is dimly lit with candles on the table. The wait service have European accents which is a nice added touch to the ambiance of the restaurant and they kept filling our waters non-stop through out the courses and getting bread on the table was a nice touch. For the appetizer I ordered a pizza which they make in the very captivating coal oven located in the back of the restaurant. The La Cirilo — A butternut squash, truffle, mushroom, mozzarella pizza. It was like no other pizza I have ever had before. The sweetness of the butternut squash mixed with the aroma of the truffle and texture of mushroom makes for a delicious bite. Entrees — I got the Vitello con Cotechino — veal medallions top with northern Italian pork sausage, grilled eggplant, and smoked mozzarella. The combination of this was something so unique to me that I had to try and it was worth it every bite I took left me wanting more. My date got the Chilean sea bass Marechiara — sautéed Chilean sea bass with Vongole in a light tomato sauce which I thought was cooked to perfection and delicious.(They did miss taking out a few bones though). Desert — We got the Chocolate cake with gelato — The smoothness of the gelato mixed with the nutella chocolate cake was unbelievable I highly suggest getting this desert. In addition we got the Italian style cheese cake which was very sweet and dry just the way i like it. In short: — Delicious Upscale Italian — High prices but expected — Great friendly service — Romantic ambiance — Unique Décor

We went for date night here because we had a groupon for a pretty good deal. For $ 69, we were able to choose either an appetizer, pizza, or pasta, then a choice of 2 entrees, 2 desserts, and 2 coffee drinks. This place is normally pretty pricey so we figured the groupon was definitely worth it. and it was! We arrived a little before 5 when they open and all the waiters were standing outside waiting for their shift to start. Being courteous, we gave them until about 5:05 to walk inside. We were the only ones being seated in the spacious, well designed restaurant, and since it was a date it made it very romantic so I was into it. We chose a pizza to start — butternut squash purée and truffle pizza to be exact. That was the best thing I ate all night. The truffle was perfect with the fresh mozzarella and the squash purée took the place of tomato sauce. The crust was also perfection. My entrée was a Chilean sea bass in a tomato sauce with mussels and clams. The mussels and clams were okay but the sea bass was very good. I did find a few bones however. I was a big fan of the tomato sauce it was very light and fresh. Lastly — dessert. My dessert choice is always something with chocolate, so obviously went with the chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and Nutella shell with vanilla gelato. It was more then perfect, the only thing I would change is the raspberry sauce that they drizzled all over it was too much. Overall, we enjoyed this place but probably wouldn’t come back without the groupon. The service was great and the food was better then average. Definitely going back to get that pizza…

Zero Otto Nove and its sibling Roberto’s are two of the top spots on Arthur Ave, it feels like ZON does not get the same respect in the Flatiron– it should! The huge castle like interior boasts comphy separated tables which are at a premium in Manhattan. The bread & focaccia are made in house & the tomatoey focaccia is delish. The hot antipasto has roasted zucchini so great you want to lick the dish! The stars here are the pizza and pasta. After a few years and many more pizzas that I’ve eaten including the former best in Frankfurt Germany this summer, this pizza stands solidly sublime– pillowy Neopalitan pizza cooked in a wood– fired oven. The. Diavolo with spicy soppresata was pizza perfection! Al dente pastas are also excellent!

We popped in here at 5pm on a Saturday and were probably one of a few tables that walked in as they opened. The restaurant is very big and has a decent(oddly) shaped bar in the entrance as well with some tables. The trattoria is just that as it has a feel of being outside with the brick walls and posters to make you feel as if you are in Sicily. Getting to the food, we started with a calzone Salernitano(fishy for those lovers of anchovies), a regular calzone with mozzarella and ricotta(cooked well and flavorful) and the pizza with sausage and broccoli rabe(well-done and good balance of meat and veggies that was not overdone). For our entrees we did an assortment of the black truffle fettuccine(very rich and creamy but slightly under-seasoned), the malfede pasta with with sausage(very good), the branzino(good but had a bit too much sauce for such a light fish), the risotto with vegetables(creamy and flavorful) and had some sides of broccoli rabe and grilled escarole, both of which were good. Overall, the service was attentive throughout our dining experience. We felt a bit bombarded with the service as we had a handful of waiters bring out and serve both the appetizers and entrees, but otherwise they were fine. After a couple of bottles of wine with tax and tip, the bill came out to about $ 50/person which I thought was a bit higher than what I would have expected but good nonetheless. Buon appetito.

This place had the most amazing service I’ve ever received for a restaurant in this price range. I’d go back for the amazing attention to detail and theatrical serving alone. But it certainly helps that the food was also great! We split two pizzas– the potato and the butternut squash– among 3 people, which turned out to be a perfect amount for each of us with only one slice leftover. Both tasted amazing! Great crust and really high quality cheese. The butternut squash was a really unique flavor addition, and the potatos were sliced really thin so they didn’t overwhelm the pizza(I often find potato pizzas to be too heavy, but this was well balanced). And when I say we split, what I really mean is that the servers split the pizza slices amongst us. We never had to serve ourselves slices and they treated us like we were regulars even though it was our first time. And there were tons of vegetarian pizza options(and they said they were happily willing to do substitutions on anything that wasn’t) which is always a plus in my book. Great ambience and definitely affordable for the quality of food and service!

The servers and waiters here make you really feel like you’re part of the family. They are very hospitable and treats you like you’ve been a frequent customer. They forgot the sausage on the pizza and he insisted to remake me a pie. The server kept refilling my glass of water. Non stop after every sip. Incredibly attentive. He also served us during every course. I seriously think he use to work at a 3 Star Michelin restaurant. As for the food. Eh. Meatballs with polenta. Ehhh… Margarita pizza. Ehhh… Truffle pasta was good. They shaved a heaping amount of black truffle in it. For $ 35, I guess it was worth it.

You know its a great restaurant when some of your family’s toughest critics are smiling and nodding through the meal. 089 is a huge restaurant in Flatiron that serves Italian food that is a step above anything you might find in Little Italy. This place is great for a romantic date, birthday parties, and family gatherings. And it saves you the trek up to Arthur Avenue. Impeccable service. Every waiter is a charming gentleman. Our waiter last night made every person at the table feel like a VIP. Serving pasta with a twist of tongs and flick of wrist. My nephew asked for some ice; they brought a glass of ice with a silver spoon. Food is great to excellent. The mussels were as long as my index finger; they were plump, barely cooked and perfectly seasoned. The broccolini rabe and sausage pizza had fresh mozzarella and, tender broccolini. Plentiful bits of sausage covered the pizza. The truffle parmesan fettuccine was aromatic, cheesy, savory, and heavenly. We were salivating as the waiter tossed freshly shaved truffles with the home made pasta. This was as good, if not better than the truffle fettuccine we had in Rome. The truffle dish in Rome had shaved truffle flakes as big as my palm, and consisted of 60% of the dish. I did not want to eat anything afterwards, so I could keep that umami flavor in my mouth. My relative from HK claimed this meal was one of the best she has had in NYC. My only complaint is that 089 has inconsistent food quality. Last night was amazing, yet lunch previously did not have such high caliber execution. Regardless, our family loved 089 so much, we will be booking our next family gathering here.

This place is really nice and the food is quite good — we had a butternut squash pizza and mussels, along with really nice Merlot — and I would give them 5 stars, if it wasn’t for the horrible attitude of the staff. Yes, we are tourists and English is not our first lenguage, but is that a reason for treating us rudely? The waiter was impatient and rude with us, and looked at us like we were inferior for speaking in Spanish between us! We understand English perfectly so I don’t know why he seemed fed up with us. After finishing the meal, he came by and cleaned the plates so quickly, it seemed like he was telling us to go away. It was quite a letdown to be treated like that, because the food itself was amazing.
