Owner or manager or whatever he is a piece of shit. Spoke behind my back in his broken Russian thinking I don’t understand crap. I was purchasing enough materials for over $ 1505 min to 6pm and he was like telling his employee«get rid of her quickly». In front of everyone in his shop! So I switched from English to Russian and said«you know I am actually purchasing something and not just blabbing away». Then he had the audacity to approach me and say«did you say something?» Thinking I am going to piss my pants? I have pigs like you for breakfast! Idiot! I said«exactly right u heard me!». He then walked away of course saying«all we want is to go home when it’s 6pm». Don’t fucking leave your doors open then you piece of shit when it’s 5 to 6p. I was polite, paid, took my tools and left wishing everyone to have a good night. Little did he know…

Horrible service and owner was extremely rude. I had bought a box, went back to my office to put in the necklace and the box was broken from the side. I immediately went back to them and showed him and he said it was my fault, I dropped it. I would never have gone back if I dropped. He told me I was probably making up stories because other people do. No mater how much stuff they have I will never go back there.

I loves me some Zak. It’s great for the novice and for the professional jeweler. The place is jam packed full of tools, supplies and whatnot. I feel that the guys here are pretty friendly and will work with you regarding pricing if you are purchasing a big ticket item. They are pretty knowledgable about what they have and what they don’t and if they don’t have it, they might be able to get it for you. They also rent a space to these display guys who sell jewelry displays for every price range. They also sell boxes(nice ones) for rings, necklaces and bracelets. It’s almost a one stop shop… well, they don’t sell metal, but you’re on 47th street, so your options are endless.

This is the diamond district. And in between all the crazy men yelling at you on the street, there are actually very tasteful pieces of jewelry that you should buy your lady friend so she doesn’t leave you for someone taller, handsomer, and generally better in every way. However, despite how tasteful those earrings, necklaces, etc. look, for some reason the boxes are always hideous. And if you’re lucky enough to get a box that isn’t gold-rimmed, or some ghastly shade of maroon, it’s going to have the name of the shop(with the address) emblazoned on the inside. If you want a simple, classy box, go to Zak’s. It will only cost you a couple bucks, and it makes all the difference. Zak’s seems to be where all the jewelers actually get their supplies, and if you need a scale, loupes, cleaning/polishing supplies, casts, anything a jeweler might need, you can pretty much get it here. It’s on the second floor, but somehow it’s three flights up.

ordered something overpriced online, then nothing. no goods, no charge, no email, nothing. Had to call them to make sure it was canceled. Like I have nothing better things to do with my time. Whatever, I have better places to shop.

Don’t get me wrong. Zak’s is extremely overpriced, but their salespeople love to haggle. If you buy the tool at face value, then shame on you. I love it here because the salespeople are friendly and helpful. They allow you to pick up different things to test them out, are extremely knowledgeable about the latest jewelry technology, and they always work with me on price. Go and talk to Ellie. He is awesome! I’d recommend Zak over Metalliferous any day.
