I purchased a laser hair removal package at Youngtopia through groupon. This was my first time with any sort of laser hair removal, and I can simply state it was a huge disappointment. Another reviewer already described the disgusting sanitary measures this place uses: no disposable paper bed covers to change between sessions, grimy eye goggles, and overall sad atmosphere. I had one treatment completed on my upper lip and learned that I have to stop waxing or threading this area in between sessions and that i must instead shave that area while I go through the laser treatment. Since that first session, all of my appointments were canceled, apparently due to the machine being down. Now when I try to call to reschedule, the mailbox is full and I can’t even leave a message(not that any single of my messages were returned in the past here). I’ve been chasing after this place to redeem my remaining treatment sessions for months, meanwhile I now have to shave my upper lip! It’s a good thing I have a sense of humor with my friends about this last bit of the story and am able to laugh that off. If you’re looking for cheap laser hair removal, don’t go here. Not worth the hassle required to chase after redeeming your purchased unsatisfactory services.

Extremely awful experience. The Office is always closed. They almost NEVER answer their phones or return messages. They don’t supply you with good protective eye wear – they literally gave me the cheapest looking dollar store goggles that were on broken elastic with a knot holding it together! not to mention they make Everyone use these same goggles, and it’s bad enough they wont protect your eyes, but they don’t clean the goggles between client use!!! Complaining is useless – the concept of fungi, bacteria, viruses, parasites like scabies, lice, or ocular infections like pink eye seemed foreign to this place. The owner is extremely unprofessional. They canceled my appointment without calling me before hand to tell me – Took me forever to get a new one, and it was not worth the wait! I never had such an awful experience with laser treatments in my life! This was one promo I should have turned down! If you can afford better services, it will serve you well. Don’t expect to have regular services because your appointments will not be kept!

I’m admittedly a self proclaimed laser hair removal junkee. The treatments work. I love not having to shave. I love having smooth hairless skin. It makes me happy. With that said, I’ve tried a few places so far that have been offering deals on Living Social, Groupon and the like. Where to start about Youngtopia… first of all the address on this site is incorrect. It is not located on Ocean Ave, it’s located on Sheepshead Bay Road. That’s the minor issue. The more major issue is that fact that this place is operated by one individual. She not only answers the phone, makes the appointments, greets the clients she also administers all the treatments. I had to wait close to 10 min by the reception desk while I listened to the client before me get her treatment. The place is super small with walls and doors made of tissue paper. I heard everything. Commentary, Unilocaling, laughing, etc. I didn’t want to. I had no choice. Then when it was my turn — I was getting my bikini area done — I saw that there was no sanitary disposable tissue paper on the bed. Instead there was a fuzzy blanket on the bed. I asked the technician /receptionist /masseuse where the paper is. She said that they don’t use it. She wanted me to put my bare booty on the fuzzy blanket after countless others have done the same? Heck no! Gross! At the very minimum the person before me was on there less than 5 minutes before! What the? Against my better judgment, I took my pants off and laid on top of my own clothes and went through the treatment. Here comes the next disappointing part — the type of laser they use. It’s not the kind of laser where you point and shoot with the cool air coming out. It’s the kind where the device is laid DIRECTLY on your skin and emits heat. The first few zaps were fine and bearable as far as pain, but as she kept going the device gets hotter and hotter. I didn’t get burned but felt like I might — that’s how hot it got. It’s scary enough as it is to get laser treatment in your most vulnerable area and you def do not want that thing ON your skin without the preciseness of an actual laser! I’m def not going back. I’m foregoing the remaining 5 treatments I purchased and asking for a refund!
