Went there for brunch. Had the Benedict and avocado Benedict. Both were excellent, service was excellent and the place was cool.

We find our new favorite brunch place! This tavern has it all… Great food, friendly staff, charming décor!!! We loved it! We went for brunch and were lucky to walk in without reservations! But it is great to finally find a brunch place that takes reservations! We had the following: — Nutella tartime with nuts and Milk — the ricotta with nuts and fruits and — the BLT that have avocado inside All were delicious!!! The avocado roll looks very good also so will try that next time! They also welcome you with a wonderful little chocolate bread/muffin. amazing We already have our next reservations for next week! ;)

The location and ambience of this place is great. The craft cocktails are amazing. The appetizers especially the popcorn are great. The game changer for myself was the duck flatbread… Who would have thought it! Excellent staff who are very friendly and helpful.

Tasty cocktails, friendly staff, expectedly bougie eats. We were a party of seven and we didn’t get a table until about an hour after I arrived(although some of the folks in my party were running REAL late so it didn’t matter much). We enjoyed ourselves, it was a lowkey place to meet friends and would be great for a date too.

I’m giving these guys 5 stars for a number of reasons, and I rarely give 5 stars, but they’ve shown the couple of times I’ve been there that they deserve it. I was there on a Friday night for a friend’s birthday. He was able to get some tables reserved no problem, and it was a good vibe. I attribute some of it to the fact that NYU is still no back in session so we didn’t have to deal with students. The manager in the middle of the night, popped by, and bought the entire party kamikaze shots, just because. Frankly that’s a classy move right there, and totally unprompted. Our bartender was attentive and quick with the pour, oh and she knew how to actually pour a Guinness, which is surprisingly hard to find in NYC. The previous time I was there, I had brunch with a buddy and it was crushed avocado on toast and it was something for the ages. I mean truly delicious. Maybe I was crawling back from an aggressive and it just hit the mark … time and the gods only know … but as someone who doesn’t frequent the Washington Square Park area that much, I would totally reccomend popping into White Oak.

We had chicken pot, pork belly, steak and pasta. All very good. I will recommend pork belly and chicken pot. The server is very nice, always with smiles.

We popped in here on a cold Monday night and found this place fairly lively. There is a nice size bar to wait for the rest of your party and a handful of tables and booths that wrap around it. This definitely nails the ‘tavern’ ambiance which I really enjoyed. For food, we started with the recommended chicken sliders(3 to an order and has a nice balance of textures and flavor) and the buffalo wings(which were you standard wings and nothing to write home to about). For our meal, we did some fish n chips(light and flavorful batter) and the bacon cheeseburger(cooked to order and good). Overall, the service was friendly, food was good and prices were a bit above what I was expecting but worth it in the end. If you are in and around Washington Square Park and looking for some good pub food or even a spot to grab a drink for a first date, this is your spot. Buon appetito.

This is a frequent place I come to after work for drinks and food. Service is very attentive and the food is great. We had a company event and the staff were very accommodating in which they were checking in with me about when the food should come out abs also had a special drink menu. They even provided desserts in the end. Great spot for work events or happy hour!

I grew up British, and this is one of the better places in NYC to get that«pub» feel. Food is lighter, and very good! Improvements: get a cask ale or two in there! The atmosphere alone would sell it.

This place has pretty great service — the waiters are attentive and friendly, as are the bartenders if you prefer sitting where the actions at. They had to move me to a different table to accommodate a large party last time I was here, but comped us a free round for the trouble which was unnecessary but a nice touch. The food is hit or miss — deviled eggs are definitely lacking a little flavor(add a pinch of curry and you’d have a winner!) They did have the BEST spaghetti carbonara I have ever had previously, but it looks like they dropped that from the menu. If someone from White Oak reads this I beg you to bring it back! Average prices for above average ambiance in a tricky area. Definitely give it a shot!

Brussels sprouts were delicious. Rose sangria a little watered down. Fried chicken sliders were okay, My friend and I both ordered chicken pot pie as entrees. DISAPPOINTMENT. It lacked flavor and it wasn’t creamy on the inside. The crust was also bland. Sigh. Where can I get decent chicken pot pie?!

When choosing a restaurant in New York for an outing with friends or family, do you ever feel pressure to choose just right? I know I do. In a city with so many amazing restaurants, what excuse would you ever have for picking a bad one? Well, if you’re freaking out, don’t, because you’re already on the page of a place that will save you from embarrassment and win you compliments. It’s got a cool old vaguely Victorian vibe, like the bar where the villain would meet to hatch their plot in some steampunk drama. The music on a Saturday night was a little loud and there were TVs with sports on, which detracts slightly from the ambiance, but the playlist was solidly hipster indie rock to make you feel like one of the cool kids for being here. The service was tremendous, with cheerful staff delivering a never-ending stream of water bottles arriving to replace the spent ones(we were thirsty from walking all over town and through two museums in a single afternoon). My cocktail was so good I ordered a second, which I almost never do, and the chicken liver mousse and ricotta jar appetizers were absolutely splendid. I do slightly regret choosing the burger, which wasn’t as juicy as I’d hoped and came on a dry wheat bun, but the delectable boozy donuts for dessert erased any lingering disappointment. The concept of an upscale pub always seems like a contradiction in terms to me, but in a place like New York anything is possible. If you come here and your dining partners are disappointed, don’t worry, you didn’t do anything wrong. It’s them. Something is wrong with them. This place offers above-average food and drink in a cool space, so keep it in your back pocket for that night out when you just have to come through. You’ll thank me.

Food was good, but not great. Chicken Pot Pie was hot. But the gravy was weak flavored and thin. I feel like the most important part of Chicken Pot Pie is the gravy. My wife’s Bangers and Mash were much better, but still not amazing. Price was on point. Good beer selection. Excellent service and excellent atmosphere. Worth coming for just that.

This fine and exquisite place is located right in Grenwich right next to NYU. The overall environment is warm and welcoming. I tried the bacon burger which was $ 15 and it was during happy hour so the drinks were discounted. I give this place a hell of a must try 5⁄5.

Came here for lunch and wow, what a nice place among the cheap fast-food like places in the surrounding NYU area. I was here when it was the previous restaurant and they did a great job renovating the space. It’s a large beautiful open area with an elegant bar and plenty of seating. The host and waitress were friendly and the menu has lots of options from small plates to sandwiches to larger entrees. I wish they had more vegetarian options in the sandwiches/entrée sections. I had the eggplant sliders from the small plates section and they were great. It’s two to an order and they are big! The waitress said they were small but they’re not. The patties were breaded and thick and fried perfectly. Inside, the eggplant maintained it’s texture and didn’t get slimy. Although it’s fried, the meal was refreshing since it’s topped with pesto, ricotta and tomato. My friend had the greek salad with a side of fries and enjoyed her meal. I work a few blocks away and didn’t know what a great place this was. Would definitely recommend it as it’s a nice step up for the neighborhood.

Came here in the afternoon since we were in the area and craved some brunch. They have happy hour Monday thru Sunday, beginning at 11AM and the reviews on Unilocal looked promising( Unilocal in a pinch, always so helpful). The gentleman that greeted us informed us that the AC was not working but offered a table near the window which was perfect for this last warm day of summer. It was breezy and afforded people watching views. We perused the menu and were intrigued by their Drunken Donuts so, of course, we ordered all three and they didn’t disappoint. There was the Chocolate Kahlua, the Peach Bourbon and my fave, the Blueberry Citrus Vodka. They are all sugar-dusted and the only thing I would suggest is that they fill them all the way. The filling only went halfway so, some of the bites were just of fluffy fried dough. I happy hour fashion, we ordered a few cocktails. Hubby had the Greenstreet Fizz and I had the Apricot Bourbon Iced Tea. Both were tasty, not too sweet and provided a good dose of alcohol. For our entrées, I had the the Avocado on Toast that is served with poached eggs, arugula and tomatoes. I wanted something extra and asked for some smoked salmon, not realizing that it was going to be a huge portion of salmon filet. It was a lot but the salmon is everything! I definitely had leftovers. Hubby went for the Omelet with mushrooms and grana padano, which was served with a leafy green salad. The décor feels like an old tavern and I loved the Edison bulbs. The staff was quite accommodating and I’m happy we lucked out, having parked right across the street. WOT is definitely worth a repeat visit.

Had a nice dinner with friends at White Oak Tavern. I have to say the shared plates were amazing. The chicken liver pâté was our favorite, it is topped with a bacon marmalade and was a nice generous portion with a small portion of bread, but they never balk at bringing more bread, so no worries! We also got the brussel sprouts, deviled eggs, and the charred cauliflower to share. It was plenty for four people who eat. The flavors of the brussel sprouts were amazing. Slightly spiced with lemon and thyme and roasted. The charred cauliflower came with some sweet white grapes that really brought out all the flavor. I ordered the atlantic salmon with broccoli rabe and my fiancé ordered the bacon cheese burger and fries. I have to say the burger was much better. The salmon was fine, but it was definitely not the medium rare that they had promised and the broccoli rabe was inedible as it was so fibrous and tough. I love broccoli rabe and was really looking forward to it but I happily stole fries from my fiancé. My friends seemed happy with their fish and chips and burger too. On the whole, I would say their shared plates top their entrees. Definitely do the chicken pâté and the veggies! I literally watched a dude eat a portion of pâté himself with a beer just chatting with his friend. It is that good! This was a great experience, they provided nice service, and the ambiance was nice and homey and clean. I will be back!

They noted a Mark Twain quote(though it’s actually a Frank Sinatra quote) on their A-board out front — «alcohol may be a man’s worst enemy, but the bible says to love your enemy.» Amen. Initially went for the blood&spice margarita: jalapeño infused sauza blanco tequila. cointreau. blood orange purée. lime. But, bartender suggested a tequila old fashioned!!! Umm, yes please! So darn tasty and smoky. Never had anything like it. Still had the marg too though! Perfectly spicy. If there are deviled eggs on the menu, I want them. I want allllllllll the deviled eggs in the land. These were über creamy and you only get 4 halves. Ambiance is nice, quiet for a Saturday early eve, but I ain’t complainin. Bartenders are great. Friendly, attentive. You should go. The tunes will rock your oldies socks off.

Went there for a late dinner.(Kitchen is open till 11pm) Unique array of foods, and fun dishes too. I had the Blueberry Ricotta Jar and the Carponata. Both were delicious! The ambiance is dark, yet visible. My friend ordered the Brussel Sprouts and Grilled Octopus dishes. She was more than pleased. And my brother ordered a plate of fries because he wasn’t that hungry. He was curious to know how much they were when we got the bill because they were just that good. (Approved for g-ma; we’ll have to take her there sometime.) And I noticed a sign on the wall that’d be perfect for dad: Sunday half price menu 11am till 4pm and live bluegrass performance. Happy eats!

I came in here on a rainy day to grab an appetizer and some drinks with my friend. This place is very cute and cozy inside, a great place to grab some food and drinks when the weather is bad. It was pretty empty since it was in the middle of the day during the week, so we sat at the bar and took a look at the menu. All of the food, especially the appetizers, looked amazing! We settled on the eggplant sliders and some bloody mary’s. The bartender, Charlene, was super friendly and very informative. It was nice talking to a bartender who genuinely seemed happy to be there. Also, she made some great bloody mary’s! They were strong, spicy, and the mix tasted very yummy and unique. The sliders appetizer was so delicious! Fried eggplant, soft bread, veggies… Just amazing! Next time I come in I’m going to have to sit down and try some other items… everything that I saw was mouth watering!
