Wahi Diner

We use-​to get a delivery from this Diner, I prefer to eat-​in so I can see my food. The $ sign should be $$. Tonight we just ordered a chicken souvlaki with fries, a milkshake and an orange can soda $ 22+. The pita was burnt and hard, the chicken had no flavor and after leave an online note (chocolate ice cream & Vanilla ice cream) and a phone conversation stating how I wanted my milkshake they sent what seemed like vanilla milk with chocolate syrup on the bottom of the cup (we live 2 minutes from the location not enough time for melting). Did not eat or drink much (still hungry) what a waste of time and money!

Wasting time in Washington Heights and stopped in and got a grilled cheese with ham. It was very good and not as expensive as you would think being in the city. Will be back for sure.

HORRIBLE! ordered food for delivery and it was delivered cold and with a HAIR in it! When I called I was greeted with an attitude and had to speak to the manager twice to get a refund. Stay away!

I went here once with my boyfriend and had a positive experience– big portions, cheap prices. Pretty much what you would expect from a diner.
I visited here today, on a Sunday morning, and had a bad experience. The place was busy and I was with a party of 3, but we were happy to wait for a table. I had actually suggested this diner over one that was a bit closer.
I ordered two scrambled eggs with broccoli and spinach, with a side of home fries. After about two bites into my home fries, reaching for my third, I found a sausage on my plate.
I am vegetarian– what the hell was a sausage doing on my plate, hiding in the home fries? Who knows… anyway the server took the plate away but I had already lost my appetite. There had already been a long wait for the food (the server said our ticket had gotten lost… so people who came in after us already had their food) but we were looking forward to it still. It was not worth the wait and now I have to go get food elsewhere after my friends eat.
I gave it 2 stars because my friends enjoyed their meals. I won’t be coming back. If there are sausages hiding in dishes, what kind of cross contamination or food safety is going on? Go somewhere else please, esp. if you have dietary restrictions!

I got food poisoning here once– either it was the French fries or the Greek salad, my guess it was the French fries. They are good for some types of food but it’s not as good as most other diners I’ve been to in NYC. Service is good and they always get you what you ask for.

Okay burger and fries. Staff is friendly. Layout is nice and they serve you fast. Good diner in Washington Heights.

Dirty silverware!!! Number one mistake!!! Requested to the manager, server blame us for the dirty silverware, really? Ok !!! I just hate bad service, on the good note food is great, what is working with this servers!!!

Me and my friends ordered from this diner today and we got breakfast in the afternoon. I thought the food was gonna be amazing because I heard good reviews about it. It didn’t take too long but that’s because the food wasn’t that great. The bacon was extremely oily and rubbery, it took forever to chew. The fries were soggy and also took forever to chew. The fucking ham was packaged deli slices that they threw on the grill for .5 seconds and tossed in the container. Overall, I was not pleased with the service from Wahi diner. Also, we asked for extra honey mustard and we got one small container of honey mustard for a whole lot of chicken tenders. The home fries were good and the French toast was good. In conclusion, please do better. We spent a lot of money on mediocre food and that is not okay.

My boyfriend and I came to Wahi Diner for breakfast and everything was perfect! It was extremely nice and cozy inside, which is important with all this snow outside. We had a breakfast feast and everything was clean, fresh, and tasty. The waitress was really nice and the service was excellent. The prices are very affordable!
We will definitely be coming here again.

Visiting at hospital, stopped by for a quick bite.
Only had a hamburger, everything was really good. Food cooked as ordered, staff friendly. Restrooms clean.

Their chocolate chip pancakes are phenomenal! And their delivery is super speedy… Only took 15 minutes to get to me and I live ~1 mile away!

Had breakfast here on 02÷14÷16 around 5:00 am (If you recall, one of the coldest nights of the season). I had a glass of ice water completely spilled onto my coat/​lap/​pants. The waiter, I believe his name was Antonio, was very apologetic and tried his best to alleviate the situation. Everyone in the diner, including customers, employees and managers, watched Antonio make the best he could of the situation he accidently created. Manager did not bother making his way to the table, much less check to see if Antonio needed any extra help cleaning up.
I am an easy going person so I appreciated Antonio’s apologies and understood anyone can accidently spill a beverage glass over. However, since the right side of my pants (thigh and buttocks area) were completely soaked, I expected the diner to do the right thing and at least take the $ 1.35 coffee off my bill. No sir! How dare I think I would be given a free cup of coffee! lol. .. . I received a full bill. In addition, my co-​worker did not enjoy her french toast. Possibly pre-​made freezer french toast? My food was ok but I don’t expect a diner to mess up a simple order of eggs, home fries and toast. We will not be back.
In all, I don’t want to come off as a nagger, but it would have been nice had the diner at least treated this wet guy to a cup of coffee. :(

The host at the door a royal bitch pay no mind to her the waiters are friendly a bit on the quite side now on to the food I order meat loaf mash and broccoli the meat loaf is really salty that also comes with a soup or salad I had the chicken, egg & lemon soup that was tasty for desert strawberry shortcake that was average can’t expect much from some local dinners you get what you paid for

Not a bad diner in Washington heights. Every time I’ve come the service has always been courteous, kind and quick enough.
The food is fine, I’ve only been for breakfast and I always order the same thing and it’s been consistently consistent. I always get the «doctors orders» breakfast, the egg white omelette with shrooms, tomatoes and broccoli w whole wheat toast and fruit. I usually get a side of avocado too and they are pretty generous with that, I’m not sure how much they charge for it tho.
This diner is in my top 3 for diners in this area, it’s always busy and that’s a good sign. I’m not sure why it’s called wahi, as it doesn’t strike me as a Caribbean joint, but whatever it’s good and fairly priced and just go there.

Cool little place in Washington heights. Definitely got the neighborhood diner feel.
Food is really good and not overpriced. My fave dish is the banana pancakes. Very tasty!
Staff is super sweet and accommodating too.

I had left a previous review about how bad their delivery service was and probably still is but tonight I stopped in for dinner and I was blown away. It looks like they’ve completely cleaned house and got rid of the previous employees and have replaced them with people who actually want to be there. Their previous employees (waiters for the most part) especially the girl in the front always had this «Somebody get me out of here» look. My waiter tonight (Tawnee) was great. Very friendly and attentive. I will most certainly be coming back. Never again for delivery though…

I usually only order at 3am when I’m drunk.
Pros: good breakfast items and burgers, they have rye bread, fast delivery, cheap, clean and new restaurant
Cons: food usually has no flavor or way too salty, inconsistency, missing items in deliveries
Overall, it’s a good staple in the neighborhood as a diner.

This diner is slightly above standard issue, compared with my NYC suburb childhood. The food option diversity is slightly less but the quality of the food is definitely on point. Portion sizes are solid and price is like my suburban diner pricing. Service was kind and attentive as well, and bathrooms were clean.
If you are looking for well lit, relatively more spacious suburban good quality diner for an average price look no further.

Seriously… don’t bother ordering from here unless you want to be disappointed every.single.time. They do not pay attention to your delivery instructions, always get your order wrong, and then have poor attitudes when you call about your incorrect order. They also have no idea how to properly pack anything for delivery. I’m not sure why I keep ordering from them… but I have pretty much had it. I just ordered two eggs, sausage and home fries… and the food is wet. Why are my eggs wet and soggy? OH, I KNOW WHY! Because you spread a frigging pound of disgusting home fries on top of them.
Just writing this review makes me incredibly angry. But I’m mostly angry at myself for continuing to give them second/​third/​hundredth chances.

I don’t know why this place gets so many three stars or less. I’m a huge fan. Maybe because I only get delivery and haven’t been in to the actual place. The service is always quicker than the time they give me on grubhub which is a plus!
I typically get the breakfast items which are perfect. I love the whole pancakes, all meats, and egg meals. I’ve never had a bad breakfast meal from here. Even the cake (Black Forest) is legit. Recently I ordered the patty melt, which is on point! I love it. The grilled onions go well with the melted cheese and the toasted rye bread. I will be exploring the menu more (it’s so huge!)
