Vixen Workout, I really really wanted to like you. I STILL want to like you! SOBAD! I’ve taken this class several times and my first impression was that it is very unsafe. In the classes I took, there was no proper«warm up» or «cool» down that I could distinguish; on top of that, there is no late policy and I noticed people walking in 20 minutes into class. If you have neck or back injuries/sensitivities, skip this workout entirely. There was a random section of plank jacks on the floor that was slippery(from sweat) and an accident waiting to happen. They also REALLY pack people in there. The choreography is DOPE but I feel it is not suited to the fitness environment. The workout consists of choreographed dance routines to songs that frequently change direction and tend to be more complex than the typical«Verse 1 Choreo» «Chorus Choreo» pattern. I can see this being REALLY difficult for people who are not dancers or are new to dance cardio. They hold«Masterclasses» sometimes which I understand are opportunities to learn the moves. I think they could really be successful if they offered these at greater frequency to accommodate the rotating door of students from ClassPass/new students. If you go and find it difficult to keep up with the choreo, just keep moving in whatever way you know how. I wasn’t too fond of one of the instructors who spent the first 5 minutes giving a well intentioned motivational speech when it was clear that everyone wanted to get moving. While she was a BEAUTIFUL dancer with excellent energy, I felt she lacked cueing ability. I took the same instructor’s class twice in one week and there were noticeable discrepancies in the structure of her classes which indicates that Vixen Workout lacks consistency. I want to know I’m getting generally the same experience and utilizing the same amount of effort each time; regardless of whether I’m coming on a Monday evening or Saturday morning. Hopefully as Vixen continues to build their brand, they will work some of these things out. I do think it has the potential to be a functionally fun workout!

meh. try this class on classpass. the class is dance cardio in club environment room. the songs are mostly hiphop, beyounce, rihanna –you know the drill. what i like. the teacher is outright funny! what i don’t like. –too many way too many people in class– — it has at least 40 peoples on the studio that has capacity of 20 people at most! –i can’t see the teacher at all cos it way too crowd! –the move is not complicate but i don’t see anything cos’ there’ too many people. –it’s so crowded that after half an hours — the mirror get really foggy and all the sweat made the hardwood floors very slippery. so everyone including instructor took off their shoes cos’ otherwise they will slip! i saw couple girls who were first time walked out 10 minutes into class and im not surprise cos’ it was just weird. i use my heart rate monitor — and i burned barely 250 cals. cos i couldn’t move it has no space to move much. bottom line– if you want to come twerk and feel sexy in the dark with a bunch of ladys do come. if you want to burn calories and dance and lose weight — please do check out. kpdancebody, body by simone that is the kind of dance you need to get your heart rate up real fast.

I love this class!!! Melissa is amazing and I would definitely recommend taking her class. I challenge anyone to find a class this fun. I used to have class pass but quit that because I could never get in. The regular classes are $ 18 and I think its worth the extra $ 8 to get into the class, for sure. They also have a Vixen ap that is awesome and has the pop up classes loaded so be sure to download. BEWARE — I have had a tough time scheduling a class lately because every time I do, there is a change in the time, location or it gets cancelled. So… power of positive thinking right? From now on, I am going to keep in mind that my class is tentative and bring a change of clothes for another gym in case something changes last minute. I have heard rumors of their own studio which would solve issues but who knows. fingers crossed! Even with all of those frustrations, I still have to give 4 stars for insane fun, sweaty work out and body changing routines. #YASSSSSSSSSS

Been going to Vixen Workout classes since Janet Jones brought it to NYC in Fall 2013. A total body workout that has me sore for days. Wear your pumps and put some red lipstick on, this class is makes you feel good while burning the calories when your werking it out from Beyonce to Rick Ross rapping beats. I would say you can easily burn 800‑1200 calories per class, it’s an intense hip hop work out that has your hair drenched in sweat after the 60 minute class. My favorite instructor is Meliza, her classes gets packed in advance and get there 15 minutes classes start because you will be all the way in the back trying to catch up. I suggest for a beginner to take the Master Class where they teach you the steps to the most difficult dance moves and its 120 minutes of booty shaking madness. Individual classes are $ 18, Master classes are $ 28 and you get discounted price for purchasing the class pass. Stay Hungry! Live Fierce!

Vixen’s a SUPER fun workout — although the class experience I’ve had using ClassPass does depend on the instructor. It’s gotten harder to reserve these classes since most of their classes are now in the Harlem location. My fav instructor is Melissa — her playlist and instructions are perfect — I think it’s a hit and miss with some of the other instructors though because the choreography gets a bit too confusing too follow and not as challenging. What I don’t like about the class is that it gets REALLY full! It’s hard to «twerkout» or jump into a plank when others are just few inches away from you All in all — this is not really a workout to feel the burn but it’s a decent calorie buster. I really just go because it helps me let loose and sweat at the same time!

I just got Classpass so I’ve gone workout crazy. I tried Vixen Fitness today. It’s definitely a lot of fun and you are straight up moving non-stop for 60 minutes. It really felt like when you’e home alone and your song comes on and next thing you know, you are trying to do that move you saw in a music video. The class was packed and everyone definitely was there to have a good time. I liked that the class had all body types. I was in the back but from what I could tell there is an instructor and at least one other person in front who knows all the moves so you can follow it. The instructor(Meliza) was fun(homegirl did the class in high heel wedges and a plaid shirt tied around her hips. I kept expecting it to fall off but it did not). She was also very positive(though it was an adjustment for me to stare at myself in the mirror and tell myself I was sexy as she requested that we do.) My main issues: 1.) The lighting. I get that it goes with the whole«club vibe» but it made it hard to see the instructor and follow the choreography. Unfortunately, the choreography was tricky to follow as a first-timer so I decided just to shake my booty as closely to the beat as possible. You do a lot of twerking and hip rolling. I think it must get easier the more you go because everyone else seemed to know exactly what to do. 2.) The music. Everything I read about the class was«Beyonce, Beyonce, Beyonce.» So I was expecting to be performing my own Beyonce concert but alas, they only played one Beyonce song.(Ring the Alarm.) Mainly it was rap — a LOT of DJ Khaled and Rick Ross.(It felt like every song had the«Maybach Music» line in it.) At one point the instructor was encouraging us to rap along. I was just one of a handful of black people in class and I literally thought, «If one of these non-black people up in here drops the N word…» lol(#BlackPeopleProblems) Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with getting a little ratchet. I was just expecting Beyonce. Overall. It was a fun class. I burned about 400 calories(which was just a bit lower than 305 fitness… though 305 Fitness is a shorter class.) Since I have Classpass, I’ll definitely go again, but honestly, I don’t think I would pay for an individual class if I didn’t have Classpass.

I’ve been about 5 times to Vixen work out in NYC and I do really enjoy it. Its fast paced, you get a total body«twerk» out and the music is awesome! But here are my two issues that keep it from being 4 or 5 stars. First, the instructors while very fun and energetic, give you NO time to learn the steps. I’ve taken a number of dance classes and find some of the more involved steps harder to grasp so I can only imagine what someone with no dance experience must think. But overall my biggest complaint is the overcrowding. They do not seem to have a cap on how many people can sign up for a class and if they do its way too high. There’s not nearly enough space to do the full range of many of the moves which defeats the purpose of doing this as a work out. If they are that popular I’d suggest cutting down on the number of people in the room and just adding more classes. Seriously, the class I went to last night I could not put my arms out in any direction without touching at least 3 other girls, I’m not sure this is even OK by fire code standards.

Strike that«Hunger Pose» girl. Be fierce! Vixen Workout is more than twerking and shaking what your mama gave you. This class is about self-confidence and feeling empowered as a woman, all while getting in a fun workout. My instructor was full of energy for the entire 60 minutes. She kept the class moving and grooving, even when we were all out of breath and in serious need of a water break. The playlist was upbeat(a mixture of hip hop, r&b and some electronic music). It’s always fun to do these things with a friend, so I lugged my best friend along with me. But this is a friendly environment so if you want to try it out alone, no worries. You are bound to make a new friend, or two. I’m most likely going to purchase the 10 class package. I can’t wait to go back!
