Awesome UYE!!! Good turnout, good food, good beer! Love the oktoberfest environment, especially at a place like zum schneider. Great pick by Chris D. Who’s idea was it to get there by 11am? ‘Wurst’ idea ever!!! By which i mean best idea ever. We got a table which was enough to accomodate all Unilocalers and Unilocaler wanna-be’s :P. So glad i got to see everyone on this joyous occasion and hope to see everyone again real soon!!!

Me: Zum doesn’t open until 1pm. Sure we’re meeting at 11am? Chris D: Yes, trust me. We called. 11am. Fast forward to 10÷5… I arrived a little after 12pm and found around 7 – 8 Unilocalers, including Chris D, on line… waiting for Zum… to open… at 1pm. Awesome call Chris! No, seriously. If we had shown up at 1pm, we would not have gotten seated in the longest table possible. If we have not gotten seated in the longest table possible, we would not have been attended to by a little Japanese woman that spoke with a really horrible German accent, sporting the most colorful socks and really amazing cleavage. If the little Japanese woman didn’t serve us our drinks, I would not have drank beer out of steins bigger than my head — 2 of them, actually. If I had not drank that beer, then I wouldn’t have had the best first Oktoberfest experience ever! Kudos to Chris D for organizing such a fun event!

Yet again, another great UYE organized by Chris D. This would be my first NYC Oktoberfest. Held at German bar and restaurant in Alphabet City, Zum Schneider, the crowd was cool and the atmosphere very fun. I arrived at about 1:30PM, but what I was not aware of initially was that there was a wait in line. Despite the party being seated at a table already, the hostess refused my entrance unless I waited it out. While it was perhaps 30 minutes in 90 degree heat, I sucked it up as best as I could and even made some friends while waiting. I do wish they’d reconsider this policy though for those who especially arrive alone. However, I’ll make note for the next time. I didn’t let that be a damper because the wait, in fact, just made me all the more thirsty. The wonderful, good company of fellow Unilocalers is priceless. I made up for it all by drinking 2 large steins of beer of what I believe was the HB München Oktoberfestbier. Very refreshing and smooth. You cannot really go wrong with a cold glass of German beer though, any German beer for that matter. I didn’t order food, but it looked really delicious so it was hard not to nab a few bites from others. The giant Oktoberfest pretzel was great along with the cheese spread with onions. We played adult games, had a lot of laughs, broke a bunch of steins, sung German chants. Props to Chris D. and Jae L. for wearing lederhosen. It was great hanging out and seeing everyone, and you know who you are. I stayed for a few hours and successfully managed to get back home while being pretty intoxicated. I also did not lose any of my personal possessions along the way. All in all, fantastic event, and I cannot wait for the next one.

For those of you who missed this classy venue(you know who you are! Pfft), here is my recap… –Waiting in line with thirsty beer aficionados(some awesomely dressed up and already pre-drunk) was fun. Thanks, Chris! No, seriously. –I could not understand one word waitress said, but her cleavage was fantastic. –Endless beer mugs in size of the pitcher I can only lift with two hands. Two or more been broken in enthusiastic toasts and singing(nobody knew what we were singing, amiright?) –teaching John and his friend how to Unilocal for first time –priceless! –There was food? I think? I remember pretzels… –loooong line to the bathroom with change of clothes involved right there in line, by someone who did not want to wait(ya all missed it, did ya? Ha!) –Music worth dancing to. No, I do not dance. Never ever. But hey, I’ll sway. –New friends, old buddies, I love ya all — it was a blast! Thank you, Chris, for an awesome event!
