I admit I was late and it was on a holiday but I got to the attendant 25 min before the flight left she took about 5 min to check me in since she had to find me a new flight. The flight I missed I could of made it if she called ahead and aske to hold for 2 min literally it took me less than that to get through security. When I received my new flight it took me a total of 6 min to get to the gate without rushing. I dropped a friend off at the airport the previous day and she was late as well(both flights were with united) but was allowed to board as the last person. For the amount of points used or the first class flight I would expect some consideration. This is only the beginning of my problems. During the second flight I was on standby for first class and was first in line I approached the gate agent which was very rude to me and said nothing was available. I notice right after that 2 people approached that had united branded luggage and they were standby passengers and were givin 2 seats. I noticed that they were given 2 first class seats. I did not say anything at the time Because I did not want to Be rude like the gate agent. TonSum it all up the agent was very rude and the ticket agent did not help at all and took her time even the the airport was not busy at the time.

I have been a MileagePlus member since it was started and have had a United Travel Card and Red Carpet Room membership for longer than I care to recount. To me, the Red Carpet Rooms are one of the few things United has done right though the service and facilities have badly suffered since UAL went into bankruptcy. I can only relate that the people in these facilities are the finest in the world, and please permit me to tell you why. My father-in-law died suddenly and I was very upset when the hospital called me to break the news to. I was sitting on the phone, telling my dear wife the bad news when one of the United people overheard me. Waiting a respectful distance away, she came to me, expressed her heartfelt sorrow at my loss, and asked what could be done to help. I had to cancel my flight, return to California, collect my wife at home, get tickets to the midwest U.S. at a horrible time to be traveling, especially without reservations. The United agent assured me that she would take care of matters. Time was of the essence that we reach my mother-in-law, who was in poor health and was suddenly alone during some of the worst winter weather to hit the midwest in years. Before my flight was ready to board, this wonderful lady had made a number of telephone calls and had all travel arrangements made for both my wife and me in less than 35 minutes, and handed me two full ticket jackets with the itineraries(less my wife’s ticket to San Francisco). I was charged for a coach class ticket, put up in First Class to San Francisco: United got tickets on a commuter flight from Modesto, CA to San Francisco, had my wife waiting for my flight to arrive in San Francisco, took us both to a private room in the Red Carpet Room until our flight departed for the midwest. The airline asked passengers on the full flight to take a different flight in exchange for some promotional consideration, and when no seats opened up, these fine people issued us upgraded tickets on the flight to Chicago and allowed us to keep our seats to our destination. What I appreciated even more was that in Chicago, a member of United’s staff came out to our flight, boarded the aircraft when the main door was opened, and asked passengers to delay deplaning for just a moment while they asked if we wanted to leave the plane so that we could be alone. My wife was very upset but we remained on the aircraft, and so did the Customer Service Representative. This wasn’t the actions of an airline: it was the result of a number of very nice people committed to passenger service, helping two people who were treated like family. It all started with an wonderful woman who was very reluctant to even give me her name, at the JFK Red Carpet Room.

The best thing about the United Red Carpet Lounge was the presence of Carmen Morillo, who worked there and did not give me one ounce of attitude when I spilled my SNAPPYTOM all over the carpet. She said ‘It happens all the time.” Since I was horrified at my ongoing clumsiness, I really could not believe she was so gracious. Someone came along and cleaned the mess up as I sat there munching on the snacks and did not feel like a total fool. THis is the kind of person we need more of – the snacks were not bad-not elaborate but the staff was in general very very friendly, the view fine and it was a very positive experience, once i got over my horror at dumping liquid all over. It is much much better than a few of the other airlines I’ve reviewed here, so just let it be said that if you want to have a positive experience BEFORE you fly, this is one place it can be had.

Wow, this place is really looking shabby. Crumbs on the carpet, most of the chairs are stained or have bare spots, the coffee is quite bad. Nice staff, but really, youd be better off waiting in a public bar.

Great Pre-flight snacks and drinks, besides the Bloody Mary’s, very bland. The bartenders are completely antisocial. Other than that a great place to hang out before your trip.

Mehhh! Not a fan of United Airlines now that I’ve had Jet Blue… The pilot told us we were going to be 20 minutes early so my ride came a little earlier but we didn’t even get off the plane until 10 – 15AFTER our ETA… Also, baggage claim here is horrid. I was forced to check my luggage in because people were hogging up all the carry on space and I had to wait at baggage claim. First, on the screen it showed our flight information… waited there about 20 minutes THEN they decided WHOOPS go to a different carousel for your luggage. There goes another 10 minutes. Such a time waster! Also, when I was in Burbank departing, the lady was pretty bitchy! She didn’t even give me two boarding passes then she’s gonna say it’s my fault. Get outta here lady, it was all you. Psh

This location is my 2nd most frequented RCC, next to SFO. Decently sized location. Smaller than SFO, ORD, and LAX but its bigger than SEA and others. Friendly staff, and regular assortment of snacks just like every other RCC. The awesome thing is that this RCC is super close to the United gates. A 1 minute walk will get you to your gate.

I’m not a frequent user of United’s Red Carpet Clubs, but I’ve seen my fair share, and I found the JFKRCC to have a more friendly ambiance. It’s tucked behind the security elevators and above the TSA Security Checkpoint. I was in a rush during my last visit, but the club seem medium-ish sized — what i would call quaint — but also seemed more«classy» in that there were several sculptures and artworks that reminded me of UA’s Terminal 3 at SFO. Nevertheless, there were the usual selection of snacks: 3 kinds of cheese and a multitude of crackers, sweet snack mix, salty snack mix, apples, and bananas. I didn’t bother ordering a drink at the bar, but the«house» alcohols are now free, while«premium» drinks have a small«co-pay». I opted for some self-service water from the water cooler. The bathrooms were a bit far from the sitting area, but findable after some hunting. They do provide free internet to members, as well as those traveling on UA’s Premium Service(P.S.) in Business or First Class between SFO/LAX and JFK. I give the place 4 stars because, like I said earlier, it felt warm and welcoming, which is more important to me than the place feeling modern and hip.

Free internet access, but same bad food with less space than the one in LAX. The lounge also seemed a bit too warm to be comfortable. It doesnt feel luxury, but it is certainly better than sitting by the gate.

I’ve been to a few Red Carpet Clubs and the JFK location is definitely not one of the fancier ones. Their selection of snacks were mediocre and I didn’t like the layout of the room. The bathrooms looked clean but not very up-to-date. The cell phone usage stalls were old. The outlet didn’t even work when I was trying to charge my phone while on a call. Anyways, I spent a good 2hrs here and I guess it’s better than sitting outside at the gate.

Not my favorite Red Carpet Club, but certainly not the worst. I’ve gone there a few times now, always before my early morning flight to SFO. They’ve got bananas, individually wrapped apples, and occasionally oranges. The«breakfast towers» are now available at JFK and were always well-stocked. There’s granola and two other cereal choices(I always get the granola, so I can’t remember what the other two choices are…), plus yogurt and milk(whole and skim). My stomach’s always happier after self-serve unit of yogurt and granola and a glass of orange juice. There are to-go mini-cans of juice on the bar(apple, tomato, etc.), plus a giant dispense of orange juice. Numi Tea is a nice touch. Wi-Fi is provided by T-Mobile and is free for members. Ask at the front desk for more information. This RCC is subject to blue laws and doesn’t serve alcohol first thing in the morning. They also don’t give drink chits for use at a later date. :(

Traffic from Midtown to JFK was surprisingly minimal yesterday afternoon at 5pm, so I ended up spending 3+ hours at the RCC waiting for my slightly delayed flight home. Not a bad RCC. There are plenty of seats, and the location is across the way from the United gates at Terminal 7. I agree with John Eric S. that the bathrooms are kind of sketch. Alcoholic beverages are $ 6, but they provide plenty of free snacks(crackers, cheese, fruit, Knots Berry Farm raspberry cookies, potato chips, and Walkers shortbread). They even brought out a plate of mini-sandwiches around 8:30pm . This review was written prior to the supposed Westin renewal of the RCC.

Stopped into the RCC at JFK on my way back to SFO. It was easy to find and close to the terminal. The concierges were very accommodating. The International lounge offered private rooms for cell phone use, plenty of seating, complimentary beverages, snacks and complimentary Wi-Fi(a very nice plus, since the rest of the airport was charging $ 9.95 for daylong T-Mobile wi-fi). Their instant-espresso machine also pumped out a tasty latte. Only downside was their bathroom was a little sketchy and not as nice as other Red Carpets I’ve been to in the past.
