I stopped here quickly with my family on our way out of the city. On the way in everything I saw looked great with a great variety of pizzas. We sat down quickly and this great old school Italian woman waited on us, she was very sweet and very efficient. I had the grandma pizza which was great and we shared an arugula salad which was also great and very fresh. Everything that we had here was very good. I would definitely return to try some of their other items.

I got food poisoning. I had rock shrimp and the sausage and broccoli rabe sandwich. It’s coming out both ends and I have a fever. Definitely this place.

I went in at 530pm and ordered a large, simple pizza for delivery figuring it would be at my door when by the time I got home 30 mins later. Over 90 minutes later no pizza arrived, also no phone call etc. By the time I called THEM they said they never made the pizza and obviously hadn’t sent it yet. They said they would do it in 30 more minutes and then deliver it. A total of 2 hours and 25 minutes later a delivery guy showed up with the wrong, cold order. The girl who picked up the phone both times was extremely rude. WOULDNOTRECOMMENDTOANYONE. It sucks, because they used to be good but it looks like the staff needs retraining now.

I went in for my first New York pizza and was extremely disappointed by the rude staff. I walked in with my girlfriend and nobody would seat us so we went to order at the counter. We ordered and paid, and had to sit at a dirty table because the waitress wouldn’t clean it, and all of the other tables were dirty as well. As we waited the waitress(Carmella?) began to complain that since we didn’t go to first her she wouldn’t serve us. She came back a few times yelling«I am the waitress!» as we waited for the food. Eventually I got up and asked for a refund since the food hadn’t arrived, but the staff continuously refused and said it would be out soon, regardless of the fact that we were treated so poorly by the waitress. Honestly, the pizza was decent but I would never recommend this place due to the terrible customer service.

You get dinner and a show… Carmela is so hard working she’s the only waitress in the place. Does a great job taking orders and putting those obnoxious patrons in there place… doesn’t take any bs. food good but I think we enjoyed watching Carmela in action… Buon Natale…

There are a few reasons why my friends and I will not be returning, all of which relate to the service; food was fine: 1. Carmella rudely crumpled up our receipt when we pointed out to her that the menu said mandatory gratuity of 18% was for parties of 6 or greater(we had a party of 3). 2. She told me «In America, we tip this way.» I kid you not, she then sharply asked, «Are you from Japan? China?» That’s offensive on quite a few levels… 3. I told her I was born in the U.S., and she proceeded to correct my grammar(incorrectly): «You ‘are’ born in the U.S., not ‘was’». 4. Carmella(the staff around us called her that name many times) lied to us and told us her name was Maria. We left a generous tip, but on principle I wanted to note the rude and offensive comments that were made.

A few things you need to know about this place if you decide to go. I think a rating is based on the full experience and not just the food. 1. The food IS good, a bit over priced, but good. My review would be a high 4 stars if it was just based on the food. We got the antipasto salad and prosciutto pizza. The salad didn’t actually include any salad, unlike most antipasto salad’s I’ve had, but the Mozzarella, prosciutto, salami, and provolone were all super fresh and splashed with tasty olive oil. Pizza crust was thin and crunchy and everything was fresh and flavorful. 2. Water is not free. Weather you like to try to reduce your calorie intake, or save a few bucks on drinks, that’s not possible here. Each bottle of water is $ 2. No one tells you this, you just find out when you get a bottle instead of a glass, assume you’re being charged for the bottle and confirm once you receive your bill. 3. We also had Carmella as our server with a similar experience to Angela M. We sat for awhile without getting attention. The table was not set when we arrived. We were given slightly wet plates and utensils to set our self. Her demeanor was hardly welcoming and there was really no conversation besides the few seconds we had to give our order. No small talk, no suggestions, no smile. 4. 18% Gratuity is automatically included on the bill. Now the sub-par service makes sense; why try if you know you’re guaranteed a tip? I thought this was just a thing when the party was larger than 6 people? I just feel a little taken advantage of when it’s automatically included. Isn’t a tip based on service and optional? I know it’s implied or custom, never understood it, and still don’t. I always tip anyway, I just don’t like it when it’s automatically included. How is that even legal? 5. If you have a coupon it probably won’t work on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Our bill came to $ 50.12. I was still somewhat okay knowing I was only going to end up paying $ 35.12 once my $ 15 coupon was taken off. But this place is the first place I’ve came across that weekends were excluded on the coupon in the fine print. Yah, I totally missed that until Carmella pointed that out to us. Unfortunately I don’t think I want to venture back during the week to use it. 6. Every single noise out side can be heard inside. I realize this is NYC, but It was super loud and just not a relaxing ambiance I’d hoped for. My gut told me to leave a few minutes after we sat down, but my hunger blurred my vision. Next time I’ll listen better to my gut. Good food, poor service, a bit over priced.

Great slices to go, we got a wide selection and they were all good. I especially liked the Buffalo chicken pizza, and the pepperoni and sausage combo pizza. Had some laughs with the people working inside, solid pizza, great location, easy in and out, go visit Uncle Mario’s and have yourself some fine NY pizza.

Yum — love the capresa pizza, with the buffalo chicken at a close second. One of the better pizza places in HK. The Italian host adds a bit of authenticity to the experience. Quick and fresh delivery as well.

Service was spectacular with authentic Italian service! Man ja– man ja! Yummy chicken parm, margarita pizza and fruity red sangria. The wine was flowing, and garlic breadsticks complimentary. Glad we found it!

My wife and I one evening had a craving, almost simultaneously, for a plain thin crust pizza. Neither of us felt like cooking(we love to cook) or even going out. We wanted to just chill in the apartment. Oddly, we had no idea where to get a good one. So we took to the internet – me on Unilocal,my wife on Google. Too much of a good thing; there are so many pizza places in our neighborhood, like in all of NYC, all with 4+ stars, so I did the next best thing. I headed to the lobby and asked the guys/gals at the front desk and the doorman. It was unanimous – Go to Uncle Mario’s at the end of our block. Glad we did. I walked over to Uncle Mario’s, ordered a plain pie and sat there watching the food served out from the kitchen. Lots of happy faces on the customers and the staff and ownership are traditional and the real deal. My order was up and I raced home. My-oh-my. So delicious and it was one of those pies where the crust was paper thin and you really tasted every part of it and not just the toppings that traditionally mask the artisan framework beneath. We could have each devoured an entire large pie and not feel weighted down in belly or regret for having done so. This was anything, but plain. The best was that it was one of the least expensive in the neighborhood. So it is now two days later, we are heading up to the American Folk Art Museum for Free Music Fridays(don’t miss this NYC treasure) and my wife says to me, «So? Uncle Mario’s after the music?» We’re there… This is a Brick oven fired pie place. We only tried the thin crust plain pie and that is what this rating is for.

Solid 5 stars. Sat and ordered from Carmela. Ordered the large marguerite and It was delicious. In the top 10of the 100’s of places I’ve eaten pizza. And Crazy Bernie has eaten pizza from Naples to Sicily to Hong Kong. Crisp. Burnt edges. Perfect mix of sauce and cheese blotches. Carmela strolls the floor like a débutante but treats every customer to her carefree yet attentive style of service. Loved this place. Just sorry it’s taken me 55 years to find this gem. Will be back every time I hit the city.

Great Brick Oven Pizza. We’ve only ever ordered delivery from here and we love it. They have great brick oven pizza with crispy burnt edges. House salad is solid basic crispy and fresh. The pies are a little on the small side and a pricier than other places in the neighborhood but one needs to remember while this place looks like a quick take out joint, the food is more sit down restaurant quality. Delivery has been quick — under 30 minutes.

This place is different from any other pizzeria you walk into. Once you walk in, look to your left for all kinds of mouth watering pizzas put on display for you to drool over while they heat the pizza you decide on. The crust is very soft and oily but it’s one of the best ones I have had. The only thing that I didn’t like is the waitress anxiously waiting for people to come in so she come sit them down and eventually get her tip for her«service».

After a long day in the city Uncle Mario’s hit the spot. Had a slice of the chicken Marsala, cheese and caprese. The caprese was excellent. Service was quick. 3 slices, an iced tea and a sangria(which I highly recommend) was $ 26 — not bad for the city in my opinion. Worth a trip — we would go back. Conveniently located on 50th near Broadway, Times Square etc…

Clearly one of the best pizzas in Hell’s Kitchen. This pizzeria has a nice selection of pizzas, pastas n pies. We picked up their Margherita and a tomato & basil topping slice. The square shaped pizza slices were just out of the world. Loaded with moist grilled vegetables like eggplants, tomato, bell peppers n onions, the pizza was quite yum. One thing that I particularly liked about their pizza was that it was not loaded with cheese just to make it appealing. Rather they let their genuine products n flavorful sauce do the work. Honestly, this is ur small voyage to Italy!

Waited an hour for my pizza to arrive. Not only was the pizza cold but it looked like the delivery guy kicked the box around before delivering our pizza. I just moved to the area so I was really hoping to find a good pizza spot close by. Won’t be coming back to this place.

Three of my friends and I were just looking for somewhere to eat dinner, and randomly chose Uncle Mario’s since it was close by. Our first round pizzas came out super quick, and despite being a little surprised by the attitude of our waitress, we were having a pleasant time. The pizza was delicious, the atmosphere of the restaurant was authentic, and the antics of our waitress had become quite amusing. Our second round of pizzas took a while, but the restaurant had gotten more busy in between our orders, and there were clearly more pizzas that needed to be made by the time our second order went in. A word of advice: don’t let the bossy waitress scare you — she’s just a little rough around the edges and takes some getting used to. After reading a few of the Unilocal reviews, my friends and I were prepared for the worst of the worst — and she actually turned out to just be a little bit bold. If you absolutely need your pizza served to you with the utmost grace and courtesy, then maybe try somewhere else. It’s just pizza for goodness sake, though, and here, it’s pretty good pizza at that.

I really love this place. The bossy Italian lady that everyone keeps referring take a minute to get to use but the great food overrides her. I’ve lived in NYC my whole life and this ranks in my top 5 favorite pizzerias. The grandma slices are soooooooo good. I happily walk five blocks from my office and pass several mediocre pizzerias to come here. I generally get the regular Grandma slice or veggie grandma Alice or regular slice. I doesn’t hurt to be called Bella by Camilla either. Just make sure you tip her well.
