A sizeable pie for a good price at the Chelsea Market. One of the great savoury options in a sea of sweet and bakery shops. Had the traditional beef pie, which was stuffed to the brim full of hot perfectly-seasoned beef. The pastry is on the harder dense side with a hint of sweetness, but it pairs up beautifully to the filling. I split a pie with a friend which made the perfect treat, but it would be a filling meal for one.

This is my first time trying Aussie meat pies and I have no point of reference to consult. With that said, I absolutely loved the Traditional Beef Meat Pie at Tuck Shop. It was my first stop at Chelsea Market and I was more than happy with this decision, as this meat pie was such a wonderful treat. The ground beef was savory ate almost like a sweeter beef chili. There was a nice serving of onions in the meat and along with the sweet puff pastry shell, this was such hearty treat. I really, really enjoyed — 10⁄10 would crave again. On a new mission find the best Aussie meat pies in LA! Taking recommendations :)

Kind of weird that I came here on a busy Saturday night, every food place in Chelsea market was rocking, but Tucks was empty. But i had it in my head to try a meat pie so went for it. First the one sole person serving the pies had no idea what was in them and had to get out a binder just to show me the ingredients. Second there was no cooking going on here, these were made somewhere else(Australia?!) and were sitting in a booth waiting to be sold. None too appetizing and clearly no vibe here at all. But I did buy two pies for $ 6 each. The veggie and lentil tasted like soap but the BBQ pork was really good. That one gets the 2 stars. Nothing else to rate here. Pretty disappointing and will not be back. I had meat pies in Australia and these, in comparison, were pretty poor. Aussies stay away!

One of the best kale salads around. Light, finely chopped. Simple, yet delicious. One salad is enough for two lunches.

This was my second visit to this shop located within Chelsea Market. Although I do not remember what I had the last time, I remember that it was good. This shop specializes in individual pot pies with different fillings. The food here is affordable and delicious which is not always a common pairing in NYC. On this visit I chose the steak and mushroom pie. I purchased it with the purpose of taking it on the plane to eat for dinner on my way home. This pie was hearty and well balanced in flavor. This shop has definitely solidified itself as a Chelsea Market fave for me and a staple when I come to NYC in the future.

Fake pies. Fake sausage rolls. Will never order from here again. The pastry is all kinds of wrong & don’t even think about catering unless you want to be modified in front of your guests by the lack of meat in the party size pies. Truly an embarrassment to the Australian name.

You’ll be hard-pressed to put something more delicious in your mouth than a Tuck Shop traditional beef Aussie pie. They’re the stuff dreams are made of. I sorely miss their St. Mark’s outpost, and I don’t go to their remaining 1st St location as much as I should(shame on me). But I definitely make sure to hit them up whenever I’m in Chelsea Market(or to pay Chelsea Market a visit just to get my fix). Be forewarned, sometimes they run out of the beef pies if you go late in the day(sad face) but the chicken pot pie or the Mac and Cheese pie are decent alternatives. The sides are also fun to try! Best of all, you’ll be served with a smile by a friendly gent with a great accent most of the time. What’s not to love? For anyone mourning the extinction of Pie Face in NYC, fear not. Tuck Shop is here to save the day.

Great pie! Lamb shank pie was thick with gravy and slightly peppery. Prefect size for a lunch on the go. Unfortunately, no home made sodas — as advertised on their wall — were available. Plenty of napkins provided for the gravy messiness that ensued.

I like to come with friends, so you can get so many kinds of favors. Mac & Cheese favor is really interesting, but a bit doughy. BBQ beef is spicy with big chunk of meat, Beef & mushroom is a bit water down, Lamb is flavorful with mild spicy, chicken pot pie is so so like what you will expect. The crust is a hard, but pairs good with the pie.

I absolutely love pies, sweet or savory. I ordered the lamb shank & veg pie and it looked gorgeous but once I cut into it I was so disappointed to find a soup-y filling inside. It was very off putting. The flavor of the filling was okay but there wasn’t that much lamb. The meat was a little overcooked too. The crust also wasn’t very flaky and it was on the harder and drier side. The staff was really friendly though. At $ 6 it was a little pricey but given that it’s in Chelsea Market, it was understandable. Their other pies did sound yummy though and I’d be willing to come back and give them another chance to try the other flavors that they have.

The customer service I received at this location yesterday was extraordinary! I knew the pies would not disappoint(I got lamb and mac n cheese), but I was blown away by the courtesy and care shown. The Lamb pie was delicious much like a chicken pot pie, but better since it was lamb. The mac n cheese wAs good for what it was, but I do like my meat!

These guys do it right. Their traditional ground beef is awesome and their pulled pork is twice as good. Usually not a crust eater but I dig their crust. It’s just right and doesnt let any of the pie substance escape. Ready right away. The kale salad everyone writes about, is not a big deal. I’d add a lot more acidity to it. lemon/vinegar — something!

Got the Guiness Steak and mushroom pot pie. It was so delicious! But instead of steak it tasted more like beef stew with mushrooms. A litle bit spicy but nothing a girl who can’t handle spicy foods can’t bear. It was pretty filling and I’m pretty sure the employees here are from Aussie. Pretty standard prices expected of the Chelsea area. So this went for about $ 7 – 8 bucks? Its located near the donut shop so you linda have to look for this place a bit but you won’t regret it! After finishing the stew in the middle of the pie then you can eat the outer layer which has absorbed the flavors of the stew. I also sampled my friend’s green curry thai chicken and MAN was that spicy!

Very friendly service from the woman working there last night()thursday may 28th). I asked her to recite the pies twice because my memory is terrible and she was patient in helping me choose which pies to go with, although it was like 5 minutes to closing time(8:30). There was also no line so that was another plus of going so late. I got the thai curry chicken?, vegetable and vegetable chili pies to go. So far I’ve just had my chicken and it was hearty, kind of spicy(I love spicy food) and pretty yummy. I had it at home completely heated up with a side of my homemade cole slaw(no mayo) and it didn’t need any sauce or anything additional to make it palatable. The pie was $ 6 and some change and although they look tiny are pretty filling. It’s not the lightest food you can eat(it’s probably pretty high calorie) but it’s one of the only things that attracts me out of all the vendors at chelsea market.

I got their beef pie for $ 6.35, I believe. There was no line when I went, probably because their service is efficient and fast-paced. There are all sorts of flavors such as green chicken curry, lamb, chicken pot pie. I went with the beef pie because it was my first time there and I thought you can’t really screw up a beef pie and I was right. I thought their pie was really delicious. The crust was crispy and the pie was cooked all the way through without any burnt marks which is a plus in my book. The meat inside is similar to a sloppy joe but it’s not sweet. The consistency is of a sloppy joe but the combo of the beef and pie was delicious. It was a delicious and scrumptious pie!

I walked by this place so many times in the market and always wanted to try it. Smells amazing. finally got it for lunch today and it was just okay. I got a vegetable pie. It has mushroom, potato and butternut squash in it. The crust was ok. Held together well, which is important. But it wasn’t flaky and didn’t have much flavor. The veggies were also just ok. Fresh. decent. But not much flavor. Needs some herbs or something in it. And at $ 6, there really wasn’t much to it. And the pie was only about half full. It was decent. But didn’t meet the bar of awesomeness I had created for it over the last couple months of walking by,

Came for a pretty late dinner with my boyfriend– though I’d eaten earlier I tried everything he got. The guy working behind the counter was amazing, so friendly, super helpful. He was the whole enchilada, but he didn’t have an Australian accent. We ordered a beef and cheese pie(so yum!) and a sage sausage roll thing(?) — also delicious and tasted just like Thanksgiving. Because it was the very end of the day and because the guy working was so friendly, he gave us free cole slaw, a kale salad, AND a piece of cake on my way out. The kale was delish.

Tuck Shop came to our office through Fooda(a neat service that brings vendors to your office so lazy/cold employees don’t have to leave the building). So take this review with a grain of salt. I had the Thai curry chicken pie with a side of kale salad. Maybe it was because it wasn’t fresh, but the pie crust was a bit too rubbery. The insides were nice and warm, and the curry was rich and thick. Pretty delicious, especially with a little ketchup. The kale salad was pretty humongous. It had pine nuts, raisins and I think cranberries. Lightly sauced. Pretty good deal for $ 10 and for not having to leave the office in the winter.

Warning: This review may be a biased opinion of an individual who last consumed a delicious meat pie four years ago in Australia. Now that you’ve been warned I’ll tell you another reason why this place is so great. It is owned and operated by Aussies. Therefore, you know you’re getting legit stuff. I came searching for a traditional beef meat pie since I was obsessed with them during my study abroad in Australia. I was having a bad craving and figured there HAD to be a place in NY with Aussie meat pies and then there was Tuck Shop. It is located inside the Chelsea market. Pies are $ 6 for a really decent sized portion. They were a lot bigger than the ones I used to buy at bakeries on the mainland. You could easily eat one and have a full meal or split one and keep trying different things around the market. Let me tell you, it didn’t disappoint. Tasted just like the meat pies in Oz. It might have even been better because the seasoning was phenomenal. There was a bit of spicyness to it. My cousin and I could not stop talking about it for the rest of the day. Can’t wait to go back! I’ll be buying some to take back with me to CT.

I came here during a Chelsea Market food tour and was blown away by not just the food, but the customer service was out of this world. I highly recommend coming here to get a great taste of authentic Australian food!
