I came to the Training Institute for Mental Health when I was struggling in college in 2004, and later in 2008, and it is the first place I thought about when I decided I want to get counseling therapy again. Very professional and very capable. The sliding fee scale makes it affordable. The wonderful therapist from here who changed my life in 2004 now charges $ 250/​hour…

I am not embarrassed to say that I go here. Everybody needs help at one time or another but I have been battling life long Major Depressive Disorder so I bounce from therapist to therapist often. I was referred here by a Doctor and it has really made a difference in my life. Therapists can be hard to find in Manhattan, there are a lot of charlatans and quacks. Here you will work with a student but they are very, very highly trained and motivated. The intake is 30 $ and if you decide to continue they will assign you to a therapist for one or two sessions a week. The fee is on a sliding scale, I believe it is 40 $ to 70 $ per session. If for some reason you and your therapist are not a fit, they will assign you another one. Everyone there is super nice. Insurance wise I believe they take Aetna and Value Options. I highly recommend and have nothing negative to say.
