Wow. If I could give a review of «zero stars» I totally would. An acquaintance of mine is a «promoter» of this club and knew(someone who shall not be named) who could«get us in.» Great. A nightclub? I’m down. HOWEVER… We are greeted by said(person, guy in Tokya embroidered beanie) who walked out of the club and exclaimed to all of us 3 girls and 3 guys«Are you guys on crack!?» He laughs, pointing to the guys(I’m assuming for the girl/guy ratio) and then walks away. We too, walked away. Thanks for representing your club in the light that it should be shown in: superficial and unnecessary.

Good but quiet place. Service is average — I am disappointed that they add 20% tip if you have more than $ 60 of a bill, which is about 3 drinks; so expect to overpay and overtip for a place that is average and dead even on Friday or Saturday night.

Great place! Sushi is so fresh and delicious. Recommend the Avocado salad, salmon tartar etc! All of the signature rolls are insanely good! Spicy yellowtail, spicy tuna, hard 8. Wow! Best sashimi I ever had. And a must try is Mochi green tea ice-cream. Yummmmm After a great meal you can enjoy the party in a great club. Very good music, amazing atmosphare and cool people. The place to be!

Mediocre all around. The lady at the door sucks at life. The club is pretty small but I like that they have two levels. Bottle service was good though, very nice and sweet girls. Just a weird layout overall though, and the DJ played no hip hop.

I was deeply disappointed by this location. I ended up going with my boyfriend to this place since we wanted some Friday sushi, and with a gift certificate, it seemed like a good idea. We were mostly wrong. Pros: –Nice interior and selection of atmosphere –Very good drinks, which complemented the food well Cons: –Pricing: The sushi was«meh» at best, and grossly overpriced for what we received. With the above gift certificate, we ended up paying around $ 30. Frankly, for the quality of what we received, I would think that was very fair. The $ 70 we’d have paid otherwise is simply absurd. –On the sushi’s taste proper: the very basic sushis were good, but they made the more complicated rolls in such a way that they fell apart easily, and didn’t work well at all. –The waitresses were incredibly slow, especially given there were no more than 6 other people in the restaurant at that time. They gave an ugly look when they realized we were using a coupon. Overall, it was mediocre at best. Short of a miracle, I won’t be returning.

This place is pretty bad. My bf picked this place and if this was our first date there definitely wouldn’t have been a second. The food is super expensive for the tiniest portions ever(they think they can charge Lavo & Tao prices). The tuna tartare is the size of a half dollar coin — seriously for $ 18 and I think it was pre-made in the fridge cause it came out in 2 mins. We also ordered 2 spicy tuna rolls for $ 8 each. These were the smallest rolls I’ve ever seen, you basically need a magnifying glass to see them. The tables you sit at are like couch cushions and you are hunched over trying to eat or drink. I need a chiropractor after that. Thank god he had a $ 50 coupon for this place but with that it was still not worth it. Not to mention we were the only diners in the place at 8:30pm on a Friday!

Came here for dinner tonight and had a great experience. Everything we ordered was delicious. The Tuna Tataki and the Hard 8 roll were both ridiculous; the Miso Cod, Habanero Salmon and Kazan rolls were great as well. Pretty much liked everything. Great flavors and the fish tasted really fresh. Tokya has a really cool atmosphere as well. I was really digging the décor with the Japanese art and time lapsed video playing on the walls. Service was great too. Our waitress was really sweet and helpful. Definitely will be coming back.

This place was terrible for a «club» the back room was so unbelievably unorganized I waited for an hr for«bottle service» as everyone sat around and stared at each other. It felt like a slow start to a school dance with awkward teenagers waiting to be asked to dance. I was promised bottles on bottles, and got 2 sky bottles with an overbearing group of people attempting to get just one drink. The array of people was trash, and the music was even worse. I will never again return to Tokya.

This review is covering the restaurant experience at Tokya’s lounge. I haven’t been to the club part when I visited. I arrived at 10.30PM on a Thursday, and was welcomed by friendly doormen. I mentioned the table I was joining, and was let in without issues. The owner Roee Nahmani came up to me once I was seated to say ‘hi’. He recognized me from the Hamptons 3 years ago. Roee remained present all night, ensuring that the dining experience was up to par with the expectations of Tokya’s guests. The restaurant had a cool crowd. Chill people, with a fair share of bottles & models. Everybody was well dressed. Tokya’s main attraction is its giant wrap around screen, displaying 3D art on the walls. It was impressive and really stood out, since the restaurant itself and the furniture is quite dark. The Japanese inspired visual art and patterns on the walls changed from time to time. I had never seen something like this before. It really was a pleasure to the eyes. I experienced it without the 3D glasses. I wonder what it’s like if you do wear the glasses. A live DJ was present all night, spinning excellent, chill deep house. Not too loud, not too distracting, just perfect. The sounds, the lighting, the art, the restaurants’ layout, the couch & table setting and interior design altogether give an intimate feel to our comfortable dining experience. Food was great. What else should I expect when Chef Eiji Takase is heading the menu? Japanese fusion style. Recommendations, based on what my friends & I unanimously LOVED: **Miso Marinade Black Cod: Get it! To Die For. **Jabenanero Salmon” & «Hard 8» signature rolls: You’ll love them. **Green tea mochi ice cream: Don’t leave without it! Edamame could have been served more hot that’s all. Bottom line: Cool restaurant, nice ambiance, great food. Worth a try.

I had a chance to pop into Tokya last night for a media-related preview of their new dinner service. In the sake of transparency, I shelled out little more than a tip for several delectable nibbles from chef Eiji Takase and was quite pleased by the gustatory experience. It’s a sushi lounge to compliment the nightclub that’s been operating for a hot minute, so as you’d expect, the menu is dotted with light seafood bites meant to accentuate a chic Midtown hang. It’s an economical menu that doesn’t go overboard on selections. Sashimi, a few rolls, some nice starters, a couple of signature cocktails, and a dessert or two. You won’t have to worry about paralysis by analysis, as it’s pretty straightforward and there’s something for everyone. Of the items I was able to indulge in, the miso marinated black cod was my favorite. Seared perfectly, flaky, and dusted with a sweet glaze that didn’t overpower the protein, but added a whimsical touch. I’d come back for this alone. The prices are competitive for the block(Tao and Lavo are neighbors), so if you’re doing date night(and want to do it right), you should expect to become well-acquainted with Benjamin Franklin.

Very nice décor. A little tiny but it has a charm. The balcony is very nice since you can lean on it as well as set your drink down without fear of harming anyone below you. Maybe a bit small for having a fashion show(I was here attending one) but no problems in my experience. I’d come back here for an event.

Cool spot, its a bit tight, but has a nice sound system & light show. Crowd was not bad, & the djs were on point specializing in their own genres. I spent my time eyeing the dancefloor from my perch on the mezzanine. I think I have to go by a few times to really feel out the vibe. The décor was cool in a Japanese theme. The place should do ok with its busy nearby neighbors.

Sad to say — nothing interesting going on in this small space. The doormen should be friendly and not snobby. I would guess the bartender thinks being snobby makes sense at these prices. Called ahead and told no tickets or list at door — guess what the first thing the doorman asked, was I on list. I doubt the bottles could be more expensive, do not expect this place to last

I have to start with fact that a) I went during a friends party which I happened to enjoy a lot, but other than that b) I dont work for the venue, so this review will be from the heart: I agree with the other reviewer that the bouncers and staff were really awesome. Super friendly, too. One bouncer took himself a little bit seriously inside, but I caught him smiling and grinning a few times at cool shit that went down, so he aint so bad after all. I do admit the place is small, but as a former promoter, I’m all about this because on non-busy nights, you can still make the place look good. I think the overlooking balcony is a nice touch. In regardless to dancing, I dunno what«rule» there is about that, but I was with two dancers(Cookie & Yolanda) and we tore up that downstairs to the point that the empty dancer floor was packed a short while later(yes, we got that party started!) I will say that the bartender was kind of lost, the coat check is expensive($ 5), and the side room is on the cramped side(however, it does look like an awesome scene out of a modern hip-hop video when it’s packed.) Overall, I wouldnt be a regular here if not for my friends working a particular party. I would, however, take a date here because youre guaranteed to get cozy. Lots of little nooks and crannies to get busy… dancing, of course. ;) I hope the door folk get it together a little better, because they seemed inexperienced. I still appreciate how nice they were outside, though. A lot more pleasant that other neighboring venues. Due to the fact that LAVO turns away a lot of folks and that TAO ends its bar at a certain time, if these guys play their cards right, they’ll kill it financially. Lots of easy work without real need for promo teams. Good luck!

Get to the Chase: Grand Opening night… with EC Twins Pros: 1) If you like models and paying for bottles then this is your sweet spot 2) Average height of 6 ft tall with statuesque girls coming with guys 3x their age 3) Pretty great DJ’s 4) Bouncers and staff surprisingly have pleasant personalities 5) Has a separate VIP lounge area with its own speaker system with changing LED’s upstairs Cons: 1) Really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately… how do you say… it sucked 2) Way too small, could maybe fit a good 80 people(maybe better for private parties) 3) Nobody dances 4) No dancing allowed on the balcony level 5) There were more waiters and staff than clubbers 6) Confetti fell… but while it fell, waiters holding shovels, brushes and brooms clean the floor WHILE you attempt to dance… wth…the confetti must have been hazardous to our health if they had to clean it up quicker than a CDCSARS outbreak 7) This was by far the most irritating: called their number was told there was no guest list, emailed and no response about tickets… show up and they ask whether I purchased tickets or was on the guest list… get your stuff straight 8) No pat downs 9) No matter how big the dj, don’t try to get in at 10 pm… they’ll say they’re open, but at the door they’ll let you know they’re not open until 11 pm. 10) Right across Lavo and next to Tao club… stick with them, as this place is a sad impression of those 2. 11) The 360 image projection on the walls sounds impressive, but was far more underwhelming than advertised
