these people are amazing! I came through on bicycle tour and they were super nice. there is a bike necessities vending machine out front that has items like tubes, hats, locks ect and bike pumps chained up so there is free air to fix a flat right then and there. I got a screen printed patch out of the machine that i still wear to this day that states«love your lane»

What other people have said about it are true. The space is Times Up and the warehouse/Brooklyn Front is also home of the biking collective there. Pretty much every day of the week they have different people who work as mechanics fixing up bikes. Theyre willing to help with any problem that you have. The work and help is free but the parts cost a little usually nothing is over $ 10 unless youre looking for a really nice part or replacing a very large piece of your bike. like the frame… They also offer biking workshops for those who are interested in learning how to repair and maintain your own bike which is pretty important for those who ride them everyday. Once in a while, I believe monthly or bi-weekly depending on the season they offer bike rides with the group and these could happen at parts or in certain open areas of the city which is pretty cool.

TimesUp! is an excellent all-volunteer organization dedicated to bicycle advocacy and education. They host a monthly Critical Mass ride, a much-misunderstood group bike ride designed to call attention to bicycles as viable transportation.(See«We ARE Traffic,» a 50-minute documentary about them. ) Although I’m not a cyclist, I’ve been somewhat involved with them for several years, including going on a «Musical Mass» ride in which a few musicians rode with them in pedicabs and played. They often have themes to the rides, including a Halloween-themed one, and a Halloween party at the See Squat. And every New Year’s Eve there’s a New Year’s Eve ride, naturally, and after-party up at Belvedere Castle in Central Park. Fun times!

This is a non-profit organization that works on probably ever issue out there. But for me the way I found it was because i needed help on my bike. I bike often to work, but i know nothing about how to repair bikes. They have weekly classes and workshops where you can learn how to fix he bike your self with out going to snobby hipster bike store. And it is completely donation based, so you contribute as much as you like. Amazing!
