It is very unfortunate that I’m unable to visit this place again but I wanted to leave a review since I didn’t have Unilocal last year. I visited Times Scare during the summer of 2015 and boy oh boy, I had the time of my life! I went there with two former friends and we had no idea what to expect. First, we went in and it was just creepy(in a good way). Skip to where we actually started walking into the spooky area and I could have sworn I had a couple of minor heart attacks. All hell broke loose when the girl with the saw came out and she started running after us. At that moment, the girl I was with dropped to the floor(pulling me with her) and started crying, lmao. It was AMAZING! It’s always hard for me to find something that really scares me. Whether it’s a movie, haunted house, etc. but you guys definitely stole the show. I will never forget my experience and here’s to open they give you guys another chance! I really wanted to visit again but it doesn’t look like that’s happening :(Thanks for being part of my summer ’15

I’ve been here three times and I enjoy it-or I’m just easy going. The happy hour is great too. Beer is like $ 3 and absinthe is an option on the menu. The haunted house takes about 10 to 15 minutes but it’s actually pretty scary. It’s a good time with friends or a significant other but definitely keep an open mind and don’t have such high expectations of enduring an hour long thriller movie or anything.

Came here on a Friday night at 7 pm to see Miles Thorn perform some magic. The magic was cool but quite frankly the space was really not. Times Scare is a fairly small space that tries to do a bunch things at once: it’s part haunted house, part bar, and part show venue. I can’t speak for the haunted house part but I was definitely not a fan of the show/bar combo. Halfway through the magic show, the bar just outside(literally separated only by a curtain) got really loud and completely distracted from the show. I was highly impressed that the magician could even focus in the middle of all of that noise. The background noise would have been a lot more appropriate for a comedy show perhaps, but certainty not a magic react that at times relied on creating tension and suspense in the room. If ambiance were better I bet shows here would be more packed!

Times Scare you were exactly like those comedy movies that make fun of other horror movies. Meaning you were more funny than scary. I’ve always wanted to check this place out. Had I paid the original price, I would have been even more disappointed. Thank goodness my best friend checked out groupon and scored us a great $ 15 dollars off. The staff is pretty awesome though. But, I just expected an amazing spooky experience. I wanted Jason scary instead I got Scream(movie references) yikes! Get it? There are undeniable big differences in those movies. It had some good parts so I can’t entirely say that I didn’t enjoy it. But definitely was not the experience I expected.

A great place to go for a unique evening out in the city. An unusual and unexpected novelty in a neighborhood that is littered with corporate flagship retail presences. The décor is cool and creepy. The haunt is understaffed, but still pretty good for what it is. I went during the week before Halloween and expected a larger cast in the haunted walk-through. Be aware that there is much more to this place than just the haunted house. There is a cool cocktail bar inside, a theater, performance space and they even serve food.

Actually went to the Elektra theater in times scare building. Saw a show called hells belles. Musical review that was pretty funny. Met the director before the show and she was awesome. They do lots of different shows here. Not a big fan of the people in headsets trying to get you to stop in.

Few cool scenes but not but a tourist trap Reminds me of one I went to in Vegas… Only like 8 – 10 minutes. When it was done the whole group was like«that’s it?» Maybe 10 people inside or it

I was really really scared. Lets just say I ran for my life, I saw my friends true colors when they pushed me out the way(out of fear for their own lives, lol) and I laughed so hard when it was all said and done, truly bonding with my friends. I had genuine fun! You basically get chased and see some scary realistic things. Not recommended for anyone under age 16.

I agree this is not worth the price. The total experience is maybe 20 mins tops… Including the 5 mins getting in. A lot of it is just dark narrow hallways. The rooms and scenery is boring and not that creative. Nothing really scary or that you haven’t seen before.

I visited this event last night. I agree with a few of the others on the price tag versus what you actually got. Must be because it is in the high rent district. They did a nice job of designing the place, but there were very few actors there on a Tuesday night. Those that were there did a fine job. So, not sure what other haunts are in town, but this is worth a look at if you get the Groupon.

Most definitely a tourist trap. We spent more time waiting in line than we did in the Haunted House. The entire walk through takes about 10 minutes. There are lots of times where you are walking in the pitch black and not sure if you’re going the right way. For $ 30 we expected some element of scariness. The scariest part was when they make you go through a metal detector just to get in! what?! The haunted house attendant had a horrible attitude and was super rude to us. The actors in the house all seemed tired and worn out. You can tell they’ve done this 10,000 times. I mean, I’d probably act the same way if I worked in a year round haunted house. Save your money and literally do anything else.

I really really enjoyed this. Meaning I got scared lol. Quite a few times. It was me and my partner and they put us in a group of 6 people total but it didnt feel crowded or common. The beginning was kind of wack but it picked up and surprised me. You just walk around different horror rooms. The line to get in was long(25 – 30 min) so I can imagine when it gets closer to Halloween. Other then that I definetly recommend this to anyone. Children not so much lol

Do not waste your money. It cost $ 30 regularly or $ 25 with a student ID. And it only took 10MINUTES to go through the whole thing at a slow walking pace. TENMINUTES. That’s it. I was so so so so disappointed. Furthermore, we were quoted one price at the door, but then at the kiosk 5 feet inside, we were told prices had gone up. The 10 minutes of haunted house itself was okay. There was only one part I found scary, and it involved a little girl. So props to her on a good performance. But I expected a lot more and was incredibly disappointed.

My boyfriend bought us a Groupon for the Haunted House: $ 31 for 2 adult admissions. Across the street we encountered this guy with a painted face– he tried to sell us discounted tickets but we told him he already bought a groupon so he tried to persuade our friend to buy it from him. After a while my friend said yes and he walked us over across the street. When we reached the ticket booth and when it was time to pay, my friend changed her mind last minute. Now I can understand his frustration after a few minutes of continuously trying to persuade my friend again but when she insisted that her mind has changed he just stormed out! He didn’t say a word but she was mid sentence and he literally just walked away from her! Minus two stars for that. When we got inside we were told that the actors just got on break and it would be like a 15 – 20 minute wait. We said it was okay and we would wait. We waited around 35 – 40 minutes. When we did get into the haunted house however, we went in with three others which was very comforting because I was really terrified about going in even though I am a huge horror fan! The tour lasted around 5 minutes with lots of banging, loud noises, and darkness. I saw a few things that really creeped me out and I closed my eyes for the first few minutes. We encountered only about 4 actors but all were in character and pretty creepy. They respond to you when you talk which I loved and made me feel more engaged. The last part really scared the crap out of me– even my boyfriend! Overall it was a great time but I suggest finding one of their workers on the street for a discount because $ 27/person for like 10 minutes wouldn’t have been worth it. Also check groupon! It’s worth seeing :)

Dead Sexy is a horror-themed burlesque show that Times Scare hosts every month or so. The event came up on my Facebook news feed, so I figured why not attend? It’s a unique idea for date night, and tickets are only about $ 12 each. It’s held in a small roped off section on the 2nd floor, but there were only about 15 people who came to watch so overcrowding or finding a good seat wasn’t an issue. The«mad scientist» emcee is hilarious and keeps the audience laughing through the whole performance. And while the dancers and costumes were amateur, they looked like they were having so much fun on stage! Drinks are predictably expensive for a tourist attraction. During our brief intermission, they promised $ 5 specials but when the bill came at the end my credit card was charged full price for them. Must knock off a star for that. My friend and I could have stuck around to contest it, but we were in a rush to catch a bus at Port Authority.

Year-round haunts usually are mediocre during the off-peak season due to staffing levels. This was the case. Scenery is a 5, storyline/plot 4, staff, 2. There were 4… maybe 5. However, they did a pretty good job. A few suggestions that may help make your experience better: 1) go with a bigger group. 2) Don’t go in the afternoon, rather the evening 3) have a few drinks first. I’m sure it’ would be a 5 for sure.

I visited with my coworkers and friends to have drinks & karaōke. We all had good time at this place. Just line was too long if you’re going to be sing. We didn’t check out inside yet. It was long line. Maybe next time.

A year-round Haunted House? That’s right up my alley! I personally love attractions like these, so when I saw the Living Social deal, my friend and I jumped on it. For like $ 21 you get admission into Times Scare and a drink from Kill Bar. The creepy hotel setting is a good touch and the actors are definitely committed to bringing that sense of realism to the experience. Other than that though, it seems to fall short. It’s not terrible by any means, but it doesn’t exceed any expectations I had for a haunted house in Times Square. The element of surprise and loud noises are what drive your nerves up the wall for the most part and a good portion of the«tour» is trying to figure out which way to go. I understand lighting must be minimal, but often times I could barely see my own hands. The whole thing lasted about 15 minutes or so. It’s a good attraction in the heart of the city for tourists, but nothing to rave about.

This place is not really scary but a lot of fun! The walk-thru felt very quick. Probably because we were all running! If you don’t move fast enought the creepy characters inside will keep you moving! There are a lot of dark areas where you can’t see you hand in front of you and you’ll have to search for the opening in the small room. Some areas are just TOODARK to even see the«scary» displays so it a kind of a disappointment. We used a discount coupon for two. The full price is too much for only 10 minutes of fun. Tip: There is a bar at the front of the entrance after you go up one flight of stairs. They make good strong drinks.

I purchased a Groupon for Times Scare NYC — Midtown. $ 49 got me two Haunted House visits and dinner for two($ 116.85 Value). Times Scare is NYC’s only year-round haunted house located close to Times Square. The prix-fixe dinner for two includes: one appetizer(up to a $ 12.95 value), two entrees(up to a $ 17.95 value each), and two glasses of wine(up to a $ 7 value each). Times Scare is great fun with decent food. Without the Groupon, it would be a little pricy but with the Groupon, it is highly recommended for a fun evening’s entertainment! See my many pictures!
