The food was not bad — though a bit pricey. The handle-less coffee cups are not a revelation. They are annoying. You get coffee but can’t drink it unless you pour a generous amount of cream in it or stir constantly to dissipate the heat. Yes, it’s artsy. But I just want coffee. Now! :)

Note: This is my first review, ever. And, if this experience wasn’t as good as it came out to be, I wouldn’t have posted my first ever review. I decided to google«Best Breakfasts in Manhattan», and this place came up. The menu looked great — and I’m a stickler for steak, so skirt steak it was. I have a hobby of eating at a lot of fine dining restaurants around NYC(Betony, Quality Meats, One57, etc), and I can definitely say these people can make your taste buds sing. Cook up a perfect steak, and to your order? Check! Medium Rare? On spot!(which is very hit or miss everywhere you go) Everything from the poached eggs, beans, tomatoes, and sour cream, down to the little crisps that layered the plate, created an amazing mixture of taste, with every bite. The baguettes were perfectly crunchy, but not too crunchy(depending on how you like your baguettes), served with multiple types of jam and warm butter. The mimosas were of perfect mixture, and the atmosphere was relaxing, and elegant. You can most certainly tell they put a lot of work in creating the perfect décor for what they wanted. The service was phenomenal. The hostess came to me right away, even though I walked in at 6:31AM, only a minute after they opened. The server was very upbeat, professional, smiling, and«knew his stuff» in reference to where they bought their local produce from. Food was served hot, just 15 minutes after ordering, and in a very well put-together chic way. Growing up in a military family, and having served myself, you can say, I love to eat… big portions. This place left my stomach full to the brim! Honestly, I was full about 85% through the meal, but the tastes are what made me continue. I walked out the door smiling ear to ear, so much, I was kind of embarrassed to smile so good. I would more than recommend this place, I urge you to go. *100% honest review from a NYC native*

Ate here on a Saturday morning for brunch. Very nice atmosphere on 5th Ave. Wasn’t overly crowded and service was prompt. We ordered the French Toast and also the Feather Ridge Eggs. I really like the eggs in the cast iron skillet. My partner would’ve preferred less toppings on top of the French toast. All in all, it was a great meal. I would come again. Also, the food came really quick which was great since I was starving.

Overpriced breakfast, but lovely ambiance and a nice place to spend your morning eating decent food. We ordered the mushroom and asparagus omelet and a sesame bagel with gravlax. The bagel and lox was quite tasty, but the omelet was a little overcooked and pretty unexciting.

Wanted to give more stars !!! I wanted to check out the library but decided to grab a quick bite to eat, when I entered I was greeted by a beautiful woman whom I assumed was the host but later found out she was the manager she said her name was cat! The food was delicious and the service is what made me want for more! You don’t meet many managers with such a great and warm feeling to them, it’s like it came natural She was excellent ! I love this spot and I’ll definitely be back again! This is definitely a spot to visit !

Don’t know what experience other people have had at this place but mine was superb. We originally made a res at the bar downstairs but upon learning that the menu posted online and the menu at the restaurant was different, and due to diet restrictions, we decided to head upstairs to The Shop. We were seated immediately and were presented with a far better menu than the bar downstairs. We started with a bottle of wine. Then ordered apps. Started with the baby gem salad and butternut squash soup. We were brought some insane bread and really nice olive oil. The salad was pretty good. Had a nice bleu cheese dressing which was nice and light. The butternut squash soup was also quite well done, poured at the table, beautiful presentation. Our table then did a mixture of entrees. Two had the duck with wild rice pilaf, which they raved about. We also did another bottle of wine which was just as good as the first. My girlfriend and I decided to do a big mixture of small plates. Veal Meatballs — very tender with a nice hearty tomato sauce and slices of toasted baguette. Fig and Goat Cheese Flat Bread — goat cheese and a balsamic reduction. Sooooo good. Perfectly crispy crust. Damn well done. Roasted Beat Salad — goat cheese, mixed greens. Loved it. Baked Brussels and Sweet Potatoes — perfectly broiled, nice and crispy, little butter, yum. Service was awesome. Loved the atmosphere. Ultimately this place provided a great meal and great overall experience. Would definitely return!

The only problem with my crazy diet is that I have work lunches. I’m on a peculiar diet and today’s lunch was literally 2 boiled eggs and a grapefruit. I’ve eaten here a number of times and have always enjoyed my meals especially the generously portioned chicken schnitzel but nothing has pleased me more than today when they accommodated my odd request. Not only did they honor my off menu request, they plated it in a way that didn’t make me look 100% crazy to my colleagues. Today’s weight loss was brought to you by their considerate staff

«For brunch on 5th, great spot without the tourist nonsense» Nice and simple menu. Good selection of breakfast/lunch items. Very nice atmosphere. Connected to a great building for the bathrooms, which in the context of a review for a restaurant is odd, but trust me, if you have to use the thing, you’re going up to a gallery and a museum and its good if you’re finish with brunch. The menu featured lots of fresh ingredients including a grassfed beef burger which I had, and lots of eggs, sausage, bacon, and other options. Pricing is a little high at $ 20 per dish, but for 5th avenue, New York city, I wouldn’t expect it to be a lot less. Not bad at all.

If you’d like to wait for eternity while the disrespectful maitre d and the worthless manager dilly daddle and mindlessly twiddle their thumbs and then eat overpriced food, this is the place for you! The incompetence of the front house is remarkable and the food doesn’t make up for it. Stay away.

Great meal and only reason I did not give it 5 starts is because it took someone 10 minutes to greet us(despite having a reservation) and check us in. Once we were seated, everything was great. Solid service & delicious food. I ordered the shop wedge steak salad, pancetta, avocado, berkshire blue cheese and red wine vinaigrette with a side of brussel sprouts, slab bacon, apple cider, smoked sea salt. Very healthy options & great spot!

This place was on our must try list because we had read somewhere that they had Russ and Daughters gravlox and Ess-a-bagel…however when we got here we noticed menu had zuckers bagels instead. Instead of bagels we decided to try other menu items. 1. Lemon soufflé pancake fresh orange and poppyseed gastrique… One of those dishes that is memorable and you WILL come back for it again! 2. Feather ridge farm poached eggs, spinach, kielbasa, on bread — its well done but not memorable interesting like the lemon pancake. Yummy place, great ambiance!

This meal was a very pleasant one. Usually this restaurant is very busy but I happen to walk in with my family and was seated at a table within a few minutes. The menu is very nice and simple. Each order was easily understood and I would believe each order tastes great but I only tastes 3 of them. The beef pastrami was tender, lobster was sweet, and market fish broth was delicious. The service was also great when they got my side if salad wrong and gave me chips since the immediately added a salad to my order. I appreciated this mean very much and recommend to others.

Located along 5th Ave across NYC Library. Delicious breakfast! Eggs, basil Parmesean and skillet ham with griddle bread. Very crowded though at peak times to also accommodate guests in the Andaz Hotel. Server was kind enough to accommodate our need to eat quickly and food was out in 10 minutes.

I’ve been to the Andaz Hotel a few times just to eat at The Shop. I think the food is excellent and I’ve been for both brunch and weekday lunch. I particularly adore the burger with is a perfectly cooked meat patty topped with shredded short rib and pickles. So unbelievably delicious and it is giant. Truly ginormous. I can typically easily crush a burger but this one really made me work for it. The egg dishes are also always great. Main downside is the prices! They are insane. But I guess that’s to be expected at a hotel restaurant in midtown Manhattan. Don’t come here if you are looking for cheap or even reasonable! Pricey pricey pricey $$$

We had just checked into our hotel at the Andaz and decided to pop in downstairs for a quick bite before heading out on the town. I like the look of this place; like the hotel, its chic. Does not look like a Hyatt hotel or restaurant. But, some of the tables are close together. Upon arrrival, we were greeted and seated immediately without reservations. Server recommended a bottle of the Ascheri 2011 Barbera D’Alba. Very good. We started with the chef’s selection cheese and charcuterie board. This took a bit long to come out, but at least we got our wine right away. I’d say the cheese and charcuterie selection was average. For an entrée I ordered the Hudson Valley Duck Confit Salad w/blood orange, goat cheese & mustard dressing. I thought it was very good. My husband ordered the seared beef strip & braised short rib & creamed Kale. He enjoyed the short ribs; however, the seared beef strip had way too much fat. In fact, it was mostly fat. My husband left the table for a bit and I showed the server. She took it to the manager. They apologized and offered my husband a free dessert. He chose a creamsicle butter cake. He enjoyed it.

This review is just for the coffee shop area, I’ve yet to go to the restaurant but mean to. They brew coffee and espresso from Café Grumpy(one of my Brooklyn favs), thereby making their coffee delicious. At the moment they have Sharapova’s candy line(Sugarpova) for sale as well which is cute. They have a decent selection of typical baked goods available for purchase, I didn’t try them, but they don’t resemble the awful pastries from Starbucks, so I’d say they are worth trying. I’ll be back around 3pm most days I suspect for a caffeine fix!

One of my go to spots when I’m in midtown and need a place to grab a coffee/tea and kill time. Very trendy look and feel with long tables to set up shop with a laptop or just read and relax. Great place to also grab a small breakfast sandwich. The greatest thing about this place are the tables set up along the window. It provides a great spot to people watch on 5th ave while enjoying your coffee or relaxing. It’s usually quiet inside and most times a seat is available. All of this makes Andaz the perfect place in my opinion. Starbucks will always be packed and bit higher intensity than I’d like when I’m trying to relax. Andaz does the trick consistently and will remain one of my go to’s.

A nice spot for a date night dinner. The food is pricy for what it is($ 20 for chicken schnitzel) but you pay for the location and ambience, which is lovely. Good wine selection.
