A nice hotel bar in the depths of Lucifer’s tourist netherworld that is Herald Square. We found ourselves here after a nice dinner due to the interesting name. heh. We didn’t feel quite right going to a hotel bar, but we quickly got over that since it was close by and also freezing outside. Anyways, there’s a pretty nice loungey vibe, and given that it’s relatively new, everything seems pretty well-kept. It’s actually pretty nice for a small group outing, and maybe a date, although you’d have to be okay with the place being more or less empty. Went with my usual old-fashioned, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well it was made. Not too sweet, plenty of rye, and a good ice cube ratio, which I’ve found is key in the making of an old-fashioned. I was also able to try the dirtiest martini I’ve probably ever tasted, which was actually pretty good. Those olives doe. Bartender was legit excellent, and very knowledgeable and really great about explaining the menu. We were being kinda annoying with the special requests but all was taken care of in the end. I know that it helped that there were just about no other people around, but it was just nice to be waited on. Prices were pretty expensive for the cocktails, although it seems like the happy hour pricing isn’t too bad($ 4 cans of RR and $ 6 wine). I can’t say I’ll be back here with any regularity, but it’s not a bad place for people to escape and just hang out for a little bit in the Herald Square area. It seems like the space can open up when it’s warm outside, so perhaps it’s not a bad place to have a summer drink.

I really enjoyed my experience here. It’s relatively new, and definitely feels that way. It has a homey charm about it, feeling more like a lounge or a salon than a bar with the couches and fireplace next to it. The décor looks like an Instagram worthy photo, both classic and modern. The bar tender was incredibly nice to talk to as I waited for my friend to meet me. Their happy hour deals include $ 6 wine and $ 4 rolling rock. The wine itself is pretty good too and they poured a «healthy» portion in my glass. My friend was very late, so the fact that the bar tender and staff were so nice, put me in a better mood and I was enjoying being there even on my own. I enjoyed coming here and told many friends about it afterwards. This is ideal for meeting after work, catching up with a friend, or a low key date location that still feels intimate.

Nice cozy bar. Caught it before midnight on a Sunday. I had the Ginger Bootlegger and he was a smooth gentlemen. Jenna had an Old Fashioned & loved it. Then tequila happened. Good service from a kind bartender tolerant of hysterical cackling.

A lovely little bar off hotel lobby. Wine list is small but varied. Nice specialty cocktails. A few bar snacks available and may offer meals in the future. Chuck, the barkeep, is pleasant and knowledgeable. 8 single malts offered but Chuck says they will be expending the list. 6 local beers .Stop by as a break from shopping in Herald Square. Next time I will try the Hemingway Daiquiri.
