Someplace I discovered when I was working nearby. I went there twice with different experience but both are great. Food is great and they have a cocktail called sunset which looks amazing in every girl’s hand. Would go back.

I came to the hurricane club for the first time on my 21st birthday. My friends and I came dressed to the nines, however that didn’t last long. Apparently none of us read the forecast that day because when we got off the LIRR it was POURING rain! It took us 20 freaking minutes to hail a cab down… but I digress. When we finally got to the restaurant no one seemed to mind that we were soaked! Which was fine by me. Once inside there was relatively no wait at all so, we were seated right away. The only food I actually remember having(because it was the best thing I had all night) was the chicken shumai. Everything else was pretty unmemorable. There were 4 of us so, we decided to get the watermelon drink that everyone raves about on Instagram. Silly me! Should have checked with my fellow viners first. The drink was 80% ice, 15% syrup/juice, and 3% alcohol. The other 2% was liquified sorrow and disappointment. We ended up around the corner at San Domenico a half hour later wasted off the fuzzy navels. Overall, the food wasn’t so bad, but the drinks were watered down. If you do decide to come here beware that what you’re really paying for is to take pictures with the watermelon. Why? Because Instagram, that’s why!

The Brazilian bowl is dangerous! Very dangerous! ! Just kidding! It was very delicious actually and it is a great drink to share when you are here with a group of fun and young folks! We came here just to get their bowls of concoctions and it hit the spot. At ~$ 60/bowl, you get a flamed lime with your mix if tropical juices and alcohol mix. We looked around the room and every table had one of those big bowl and had a good time. One different thing is most people were there for food too which I wished we had. Few more things to note, nice and clean restroom and there is a private room downstairs by the restroom if you are interested. Thats all folks, my memory of this place got a little blurry after 2 bowls… ;)

I’ve been meaning to write this review for a while. I took my best friend here for dinner for her birthday and it was fantastic. The food was to die for. We ordered the Pu Pu platter and it was amazing all the food was absolutely delectable. It’s Asian food with a Hawaiian twist. The drinks were well made and delicious and the service was decent. I base my ratings on taste of food and that is right on the money! The best part was when the show starts after 10 pm. I didn’t know that it turned into a club which made it that Much more interesting!

This place is beautiful. The minute you come in you are greeted by two really nice hostesses. I really loved the décor of this restaurant, I felt like I was transported to another place. I didn’t get to try their fun cocktails since I was in the mood for wine but they did look good and interesting. I ordered the Hurricane Roll, Hawaiian fried rice and the scallops. All three were delicious but my favorite was the rice, it was too die for. I will be coming here again.

There is nothing more fulfilling than scoring a reservation within less than 30 minutes of dinner time at one of New York’s most sleek, lavish, and stylish restaurants in Midtown East. My first time around at the Hurricane Club, I was impressed by the gargantuan tiger prawns and hospitable service by the staff. My trip here also occurred during lunch, so I was looking forward to dinner and what exactly was in store. Upon my second venture, the quality of service was nothing but immaculate similar to my first visit. The attentiveness of the hostess, the ability for her to modify dishes to cater to my party, and care that can be seen placed into every meal that was served was overly exquisite. THEGOOD: Tall, strong drinks full of whiskey, lime and other delectable ingredients that you can’t say no to. Tuna tartare drizzled with mustard that was very fresh and scrumptious. THEBAD: You might want to make a reservation because by 9 pm(mine was booked for 7:30), this place was packed. All walk-ins definitely had to wait. THEUGLY: Having another tall whiskey tiki drink to wash down a chocolate crumb, topped with caramel and hazelnut mousse dessert with gluttonous delight. WINNING!!! Feeling fancy for an evening out or looking to impress the Madame/Sir for a special night, The Hurricane Club is sure to not disappoint.

I’ve been here twice… once for drinks and apps at the bar and another time for dinner. The restaurant is gorgeous. It’s just stunning and rather large. The food is very good. Had the fiery bbq dumplings, which were fantastic. Also had the spicy garlic noodles. Definitely a ton of heat. I enjoyed the food and the ambiance is very nice. I’d like to come back and try a few other dishes on their menu and their dessert options. Definitely would consider a return visit. Edited this one to upgrade to 4 stars… the ambiance and the service justify it!

I would’ve added an extra star if the staff wasnt so rude an unaccomodating. Came in with a party of 10 at 5:45pm on a Thursday when the restaurant was totally empty. We were forced to order off of a pre-fixed menu since our group was larger than 9. Best way to describe their pre-fixed menu would be «a great way to ensure guests will never return». I understand the reason for forcing larger parties to use the pre-fix menu but how«slammed» would the kitchen really be when we were the only one’s in the restaurant? We had a vegetarian in our group and we were given an attitude when we asked if she could order off of the full menu since there was only one vegetarian option on the pre-fix menu. The menu came with an appetizer, a 1st course, a main course and a dessert. The appetizers were pretty good so I had high hopes at first. The 1st course was just a choice of a roll. Most of us got the Thai Crab and Avocado roll. It tasted like it had been made at 10am that morning. The main course options were a joke. Most of us opted for the sea bass and that’s all we got. A piece of fish on a plate. Nothing else. Are you kidding me? The desserts were good. I liked the samoan which was layers of angel food cake, caramel and coconut. Unlike the dinner, there was more than enough dessert to go around. The restaurant décor was nice but I dont eat décor so I won’t return.

Went here for a graduation dinner with my mom and sister. I heard about it from a classmate who raved about how magnificent it was. I am still not sure if it has an actual club where people can get their grooves on. In any case, my impression was whoa. what a huge door. The décor is admirable, but the night that we came in, the staff could have been a bit nicer and accommodating. Beautiful people everywhere… including our waiter. I enjoyed his accent but he could have smiled more. Am I asking for too much? I think not since it is expected of this type of restaurant to have friendly people. Heck, isn’t it expected anywhere? What had me dreaming about Hurricane is their Coconut Shrimp. I am not a big fan of coconut-flavored things but my oh my, it was pretty darn good. The steak was nothing out of the ordinary. I think you’re better off going to a steakhouse for steaks. Overall: Pretty décor for those who like to dress up and take pictures. Food was just okay. It’s not a place I’d spend a lot of money in.

3.5 stars I came here for a work event, so we had food and drinks galore. We shared the pu pu platters of King Kamehameha, which had some tasty finger food like prosciutto and peanut butter sandwiches. The big watermelon drinks were fun, but difficult to drink. One guy put his straw into the melon too quickly and the whole thing exploded over our table. The staff were used to it though and promptly cleaned it up. The brazilian drink was way too strong to be enjoyable. However, the drinks made at the bar were delicate and well mixed. We all had a good time here and I would love to come back for one of those nights when they paint your face!

The Hurricane Club was a major disappointment: the décor is not«high end» nor elegant as originally touted by others, the food is definitely below average, and the service is extremely rushed. I wasn’t too hungry when I arrived so I opted out of the Restaurant Week menu. Instead I ordered the Coconut Shrimp from the appetizers and a side of their famed coconut rice. You’d think that together they make a really good pairing as they both have coconut in them, but they both sucked. While the coconut rice is very aromatic in scent, the flavors were not robust at all — definitely not worth that $ 11 price tag. The portion was also very small. As for the Coconut Shrimp, other than being plentiful crispy enough, it lacked in flavor and had an extremely weird texture. The shrimp was not whole pieces, but instead some sort of minced shrimp paste instead(totally weird and fake-tasting). Based on reviews(both Unilocal and through friends), I came up with this image of Hurricane Club as intensely high-class with chandeliers and elegant décor everywhere. They did have all that, but it didn’t look right at all and somehow non-cohesive. For below-average food, a rushed experience and décor that was more of an eyesore than delight to the eyes, our bill came to $ 215 for 5 people. Hurricane Club, if you’re charging prices like the big boys, you really oughta act and play like the big boys, meaning the décor and food should be GOOD to GREAT.

The Hurricane Club is one of the most aesthetically pleasing restaurants I’ve been to in a long time. The restaurant is HUGE. Upon entering, you feel like you are approaching a huge party venue, not a restaurant. The décor is upscale«Tiki bar», if that’s at all possible. Hurricane Club is Quality Meats’ sister restaurant so I had high expectations. The waiter was very patient as we waited for the last person in our party. We started with the infamous #77 drink: spiced rum, coconut, cardamom, passion fruit served in a coconut shell. The drink itself was ok, but the presentation makes it so fun. The other drinks sounded really good as well. We knew we wanted to try a little bit of everything so we ordered the King Kamehameh Pupu Platter for 4. It included: The Club’s Coconut Shrimp with sriracha aioli(not very coconuty, the shrimp was masked by A LOT of shredded phyllo dough coating) Samoan Deviled Eggs(terrible, I think it had Taro on it which ruined the bite, in my opinion) PB& Guava«J» prosciutto and thai basil(mostly tasted like peanut butter, I was expecting amazing flavor combinations) Tuna Tartare Cones(these were good) Chicken Skewers(these were good but very basic) Vegetable Spring Rolls(nauseating, they had a potent bitter flavor) At this point we were getting pretty full, but we have to move forward! Luckily we just ordered 2 entrees and 2 sides to split between the 4 of us. We had: Cashew Chicken(which tasted exactly like sesame chicken, it was good but very small portion) Crispy Pekking Pig with sticky pork buns and accompaniments(wouldn’t say they were crispy per se, but they were good) Coconut Rice(served in a coconut(!) but it tasted like rice pudding, a little too sweet for a side dish) Spicy Garlic Noodles(which were neither garlicky nor spicy) We managed to make enough room in our bellies to split dessert-Chocolate Kill Devil’s Food Cake with a side of bruleed bananas. Yummy! Overall this is a great place for drinks and large groups. The food isn’t amazing, but the atmosphere makes up for it.

I cannot believe this restaurant has only 3 ½ stars?! I’ve only been once, but I haven’t stopped talking about it since. I LOVEDTHISPLACE. We started with a huge cocktail that granted, was extremely overpriced, but was presented beautifully(transported us to an island) and really knocked our socks off without tasting like poison. It was in a watermelon with the top sliced off and had a tropical flower in it.(This drink was btwn $ 40-$ 60, but enough for 2 – 3 people). We got shrimp as an app wrapped in what looked like kadaif. Fun and interesting, but not the best thing I ate all night. We got the Wagyu Skirt Steak(this was a little too rare for us, but we were too tanked to send it back and it tasted good anyway); coconut rice(THISWASAMAZZZZZING, but a very small portion); and the Shanghai Cashew Chicken(also excellent). Lots of people around us got the Hawaii fried rice and it looked fantastic. We were too full for dessert, but I’m dying to go back here ASAP. The meal will put you back a pretty penny… or a thousand pennies.

I had a great time at the Hurricane Club. This was a pleasant surprise because the décor was great, the vibe was great, the music was entertaining. There were two main issues that we had… 1) My friend saw a bug in her menu and quickly closed it, she then waved the waiter down to tell him about it and he opened it and flung the bug at her. I KNOWTHISSOUNDSRIDICULOUS! He claims that he couldnt hear her to good and when he opened it he got scared and his reaction was to throw it lol If my friend didnt have patience she would have knocked him out. 2) The drinks were horrible in my opinion. My friends semi liked theres but it was nothing to spend $ 15 on. OVERALL: the food was amazing and we met a few celebrities so its definitely a fun place for dinner. FYI — Reservations required!

It’s as if King Kamehameha prepared this feast just for us during Restaurant Week! Probably one of the best, if not the most plentiful, options to take advantage of during lunchtime. Since I had a summer Friday off we were able to snag a seating on the last day of RW mid day and it was terrific. For only $ 24.07 a person we were amazed at the amount of food we received, on top of the excellent service. We literally rolled out of here — but not before sitting at the bar and getting ripped on some high octane rum tiki drinks after our meal! Now, I love kitschy type places, and The Hurricane Club is no exception yet they do it in a more classy style. The ambiance and décor is spot on beautiful, trendy and chic, with a ton of seating, chandeliers, carved wood worked ceilings, palm plants, dim lighting, and a tiki bar anchoring the main floor. We sat in a semi-private room off to the side that made us feel as if we were in a tiki hut. The waiters and staff here are very attentive, professional, and within minutes had come over to place our orders and set us up with drinks. The menu here for RW had some great offerings and everything we ate was so good we wish we had done this place a few times for lunch! Appetizers — Walnut Tiger Shrimp and Chicken Shumai. The shrimp was made almost crispy popcorn style with a light tangy glaze on it and was full of candied walnuts — YUM! The shumai was stuffed full of chicken and the sauce flavor on top reminded me of eating my Mom’s stuffed peppers she use to make. Quite a unique sensation, but very tasty. Entrees — Cashew Chicken and Honey Glazed Baby Back Ribs. These are lunch portions? Holy cow! The cashew chicken was sweet and savory with a lot of nuts. I love nuts!(Wait — that didn’t sound right) The baby back ribs were coated with sweet delicious honey and the portion is huge and stacked high! I kept dipping the meaty moist ribs in the honey, along with my fingers, and anything else I could shove in my mouth!(Um, wait — that also didn’t sound right) On the plate they also came with crunchy delicious lotus root chips that we could not get enough of. Dessert — as if we were not stuffed enough at this point! Lychee Soft Serve Ice Cream and Chocolate Kill-Devil’s Food Cake. That had to be the most lychee flavored ice cream ever. It was actually juicy and was more like a wet sorbet with coconut shavings on it. The kill-devil’s cake was rich and chocolatey with crispy balls on top, and the inside was filled with a marshmallow cream. It also came with a caramelized banana that we fought over. Overall, a terrific choice and wonderful meal for Restaurant Week. We received more than enough for the lunch deal, and the portions were totally satisfying. As it was a Friday mid-afternoon it was not crowded at all and kind of peaceful. We decided to hang around and high-tailed to the tiki bar where we were entertained by a very affable bartender who mixed a mean drink, or two, or three. I lost count of how many we had, but it must have been happy hour or something as the bill was half what I thought it would be. Man — those Dark & Stormy’s pack a mean punch! I love rum. Rummy, rum, rum. Into my belly.

Uhmazing atmosphere, deliciously fruity and pretty drinks, decent food. Impeccable service! The Hurricane Club will take you by storm, not necessarily because it will blow your palette away… but because the atmosphere, courteous and attentive service and island inspired dishes will have you in an Aloha state of mind. Russell and I walked in to the Hurricane Club and were very impressed with the elegance of the décor. Dark, alluring… if Dracula owned a tiki bar, this would be it. Although I made reservations, when we arrived at around 6 p.m. on Saturday evening, there was plenty of room. We were seated in a large booth, very comfortable and spacious for just two people. We started our evening with some cocktails. Russell got the Tahitian Sangria and I got the Hurricane Mai Tai(very strong, very delicious). For appetizers, we got the fiery pork dumplings(at the recommendation of our waiter) and the tuna tartare cones. The dumplings were okay. They were not really that«fiery» and could have used a bit more filling or spice. The tuna tartare cones… were basically crunchy phyllo cones stuffed with tuna sashimi… Again, could have used a bit more seasoning/spice. For entrees, we shared the honey-glazed baby back ribs. the Cantonese style lobster and the grilled broccoli with ginger raita. The broccoli was delicious. Charred just slightly with a hint of salt. The ginger raita added a cool and refreshing flair to the dish. The perfect side for our heavier meal. The honey-glazed ribs were also divine. After seeing them delivered to a table neighboring ours, I knew that we had to get them as well. Everything on this plate, from the sticky honey BBQ sauce, to the fried lotus root, to the tasty, chewy ribs was delectable. The Cantonese Style lobster was a smaller dish than I had expected(especially for close to $ 40). The dish didn’t even seem to have the meat of a whole lobster. However, the meat tasted as if it was gently fried and the black bean and tofu sauce that accompanied it was also very good. Not worth the price tag though. For dessert we shared the peanut butter and chocolate cream puffs. Insanely rich dessert! Must share… I was disappointed when there was no one downstairs manning the rum fountain… but the bathrooms were quite nice, huge actually. I would love to visit this place again. I think that I’d like to try the pig.

So after my last review, I did say that I would give this restaurant another try because the manager really extended herself and the food waaaas really good. I planned a weekend with my bridesmaids in the city to shop for dresses and it was also the week of my Birthday so I decided to make a reservation here for 6 of us girls. I lost the managers card who invited us back again but I figured that I would run into her at the restaurant or just ask for a really good server/explain that I had a bad experience previously. Upon checking in, the host said that the manager was not there that day as she was sick, but that he would take care of us. We were seated immediately which again, I really liked. Cocktails: We all had different drinks but were taking it easy as we were all going out after dinner so only had one drink each. Some had wine, some whiskey, and some had the oh so fruity cocktails. I had the raspberry martini which was delicious. Food: Must haves here are the spicy lobster diablo noodles(my FAVORITE), coconut shrimp, lobster dumplings, tofu dumplings, and the chicken lettuce wraps. All are extremely tasty! They all have a different unique kick to each dish. These are super good for sharing. There are bigger portioned meals as well. Service: Our server and back server were Steve & Richard. They were both BEYOND friendly and attentive. We had GREAT service. We ordered some things to share for the table and quickly the food started coming. Within like 15⁄20 minutes all of the food that we ordered was on the table and they brought us some complementary items as well. It was extremely nice of them to do that for us. We had a ball. Everyone really enjoyed their food and the overall experience. The ambiance was amazing and it was truly a 5 star dining experience. * Also, the next day after we dined with them, the manager called my cellphone and left a voice message asking me to give her a call back and let her know how our evening went that night. It’s great to feel like the management actually DOES care whether or not you have a good experience or not. This restaurant is extremely well run. We will definitely be back!!!

Wow. I am blown away by the interior design. I expected to see 007 and his swanky tux at a place like this. I came here for happy hour and so glad I did. I personally don’t drink but ordered hot tea. I winced when I placed my order but the bartender completely passed it off as a normal order and didn’t judge!!! The fancy tea was even imported. The drinks themselves were pretty to look at and so are all the bartenders! ;) I didn’t feel crowded and the everyone was more sophisticated and better dressed than what you would find at your average happy hour joint.

The Hurricane Club has been on my radar for a long time now. A beautiful, elegant restaurant with a tropical feel, right here in New York City. My boyfriend & I decided to book our Valentine’s Day dinner here(six weeks in advance), and we found ourselves getting more excited about the venue as the date got closer. On Valentine’s Day, we found ourselves running about ten minutes late, so we called ahead to let them know. And when we arrived, the host thanked us for the call & we were seated in about five minutes. The red-walled back room was set up with about 20 couples’ tables. The lights were low, the tables were candlelit … and there was love in the air. We ordered two glasses of Riesling and the Imperial Pupu Platter, followed by the Honey-Glazed Baby Back Ribs, the Hurricane Rib, and The Hawaiian Fried Rice. The Imperial Pupu Platter was easily the highlight of our meal. The presentation of the six dishes was a creative, beautiful, and fun experience! We had a great time trying each dish together. It’s so cliché, but each one we tried was truly better than the last! Looking back, that part of the meal was exceptional. I would definitely recommend the Imperial for couples on a date or first-timers to the Hurricane Club. Our entrées arrived shortly after we finished the Imperial. The plating of our dishes was truly stunning. And once we tasted the food, we knew that we made the right choice by choosing the Hurricane Club for our special night. They really pay attention to not only the taste of the food, but the presentation as well. Both rib dishes were delicious. The Hurricane Rib, recommended by our waiter, was a huge fall-off-the-bone beef rib with some kind of sweet carmelized sauce on top & a tangy citrus dip(with a little kick) on the side. The meat was amazingly tender and juicy. The Honey-Glazed ribs were artfully stacked and decorated with crunchy lotus-root chips. The rib meat was perfect and the glaze was finger-licking delicious — thank goodness it was a dimly-lit table! The reason I decided to give the Hurricane Club four stars was due to two factors: slow service and an unclear menu. I was actually going to excuse the slow service due to the fact that we were dining at 8pm on what is probably one of the restaurant’s busiest days, but even when some of the tables cleared out we were still waiting to catch a glimpse of our waiter to ask for the check. But for me, the lack of description on the menu was inexcusable because it led to me ordering something that I couldn’t eat! The Hawaiian Fried Rice dish was sooo spicy. I can’t handle spicy food, and it would have never occurred to me to ask if rice was spicy! Our waiter even asked if we were okay with the bacon in the rice, but never thought to mention the spiciness. I couldn’t take more than two bites, which was really disappointing. We were too full to have dessert, but we capped off our evening with a couple of delicious Cappuccinos, which were served in these cute little tiki mugs! I loved them. Despite the spice mishap, our overall experience at the Hurricane Club was fun and amazing. It was everything I hoped it would be. The food and attention to detail my boyfriend loves, coupled with the décor and ambiance I adore. We both felt that the cost of our meal was very fair and reflected the experience and attention to detail at the Hurricane Club. This was the perfect restaurant for our romantic, elegant, and special evening.

My birthday party was held at the Hurricane Club this year. All guests were impressed by their specialty tropical cocktails served in the unique utensils, and the beautiful indoor décor of this place. Group drinks were incredibly fun and delicious! So are the pu pu platter and chicken wings. Service in the Hurricane Club is always FIVE-star, perfectly matching with the classiness and up-scale atmosphere. I love their waiters and waitresses-warm, welcome, sincere, and full of characters. In sum, Hurricane is a top-notch dear to my heart. cannot love you more.
