Awesome bar. Prices here are incredible. the bar itself is pretty long so they’ll be enough seats. Ordered a neat makers last night and that glass was about 80% full, go to another bay ridge bar and don’t be surprised when the bartender measures out exactly two tablespoons of whiskey for you. great place to watch a game too, LGR. 5⁄5 will definitely be sticking around.

Cool little bar to always go and relax after work. More upbeat on the weekends and always a great time. Drinks are not crazy at all and they always have good deals. Staff is pretty cool it as well.

Even though The Hide Out isn’t meant to serve as a music venue, one of my friends took me to see some local bands play here last month. The area in the back where they set up the«stage» is quite small, and the rest of the space is long but narrow. It got relatively busy later in the night, but not uncomfortably so. There’s a pool table and jukebox, too. Bartenders gave me grief about closing out my card twice instead of keeping a tab open, mostly because I had no idea how long we were staying. They didn’t have to make a big deal out of it, though. Nothing really special about this place, it’s as plain as a dive bar could get.

I’m definitely a fan of more divey bars, and the Hide Out fits the bill. Strong and cheap drinks, roomy and dark interior, decent selection of both beers and spirits. The real gem of this place is Jen. She is a great bartender, and has always been spot on while creating custom drinks based on what she *thinks* my boyfriend and I will like. Super friendly, too!

If I am visiting The Hide Out, that means my night has followed a very specific equation: i have already visited all my favorite Bay Ridge bars, all my secondary favorites were packed, or everything else was closed. This is because The Hide Out – although seemingly innocuous from the outside, is nothing more than a very mediocre bar. Limited seating, extremely loud music, and an odd crowd that always seems to consist of either young, rambunctious Guidos, or older folk who like to overwhelm the limited seating. The only unique component Of Hideout are perhaps the beerpong and pool tables located in the back, should you feel a little sporty that night. However, these tables are normally where the young, rambunctious guidos congregate and I wish you luck in trying to call dibs.

This place has cleaned up nicely. The new dress code and security really make it a more pleasant place to enjoy your night. The bartenders are friendly and the dj is playing all the best songs.

I love Bar hopping in Bay Ridge theres just so many places to go. I wasn’t so crazy about this place though. It wasn’t clean they’re were empty bottles everywhere and it just had that dirty dive bar feeling. The DJ was pretty good I will say that. A not so ideal environment with good music can work, If I have good music I can vibe out no matter whats going on around me i love music. It was uncomfortable and musty in here as well which I don’t like. The crowd looks really young here, either a fresh 21 or a fake I.D. young. Im not sure but either way Im well over 21 so it definitely wasn’t my scene I doubt I’d go back here.

What an appropriate name for this bar. Almost literally hidden, The Hide Out is surprisingly large inside, with a long bar, a decent amount of seating, and CHEAP drinks. The draft selection was great too. I stopped in on a whim on a Sunday afternoon, expecting it to be empty. There were at least a dozen people there, a good energy, and some great tunes being spun by the drinkers on the bar’s jukebox. Surprise! My lady and I played darts in the back(PLEASE get some new darts; we had to play with only two!) and got a couple rounds. Three draft beers and an Angry Orchard draft with a shot of Fireball ran us a total of $ 17. Seriously. I thought this must be a beautiful mistake, and would have said something, but we instead decided to tip heavily, and stay for a couple more drinks. Our lovely bartender(whose name I should have got) served up another draft beer and Angry Orchard/Fireball mix, only charging us for the beer this time(and mentioning that the other drink was on her). Can’t beat that! So between the generosity of the bartenders, and the happy hour specials(they were explained to me, but the seemingly-complicated description went over my head — the point: drinks were cheap) this place seemed like it could become our new favorite spot. However… we went in again on a Friday evening, and the vibe was completely different. A DJ was playing some techno garbage, the crowd was fist-pumping, and everyone seemed too young to be there. I doubt they were, but it at least looked that way. What the H happened? I’m 26, and I felt OLD there. In the end, it was decided: this would be our new happy hour venue, but like certain other bars in Bay Ridge(*cough* Salty Dog *cough*) when it gets past dinner time, it’s time to bail.

I visited this place during the Christmas holiday, they seem to have standing room at the bar with a happy hour until 7pm. Good atmoshere, too bad the happy is not until 8, would make the rush out of work seem like a breeze.

Pretty Cool Local Joint. Great selection of whiskey, rye and flavored vodkas. Staff is pretty amazing too. A great group of locals who know what people want. Definitely check it out on Sundays for the Best Prices and Duo behind the Bar serving drinks. Its a mix of Boobs and Brawn. I intend to frequient this place often.

It’s a dive bar. (Those of you who expect anything more, keep walking.) Spacious, not overcrowded, locals enjoying their drinks, chat or watching TVs. Music is great. Brandy is good. Beer selection is awesome. What else can you ask for?

Best bar ever. Eloquent. Amazing service. Décor is spectacular. Best liquor selection this side of the Rhine. And if you like bald bartenders your in for a treat. Take your snuggle bunny or your fav family member down to the hideout and get lost in some great times.

I live on the block. While I’m glad to see a business open and thrive, the management hasn’t seen fit to hire a bouncer to control the loud and rowdy drunks that smoke and congregate outside. The noise is pretty bad and I have made 311 noise complaints. They also haven’t hired anyone to clean up after their guests so on my way to work in the morning I am greeted by the grim site of take out food trash, pizza boxes and hundreds of cigarette butts, a chronic littering problem it seems. Tonight as I walked home, I had to step over a few girls who had tables and chairs out on to the sidewalk. They had their feet up. They were wrapped in blankets, smoking cigarettes and eating from tin takeout containers. They were tossing some of their food to a few dogs on the sidewalk. It wasnt easy to pass through. It was pretty disgusting. I called the bar twice but they let their calls go to voicemail. they do not answer phonecalls. I suppose they got exhausted answering all the noise complaints from thier neighbors. The Hideout needs to do a much better job of making friends with their neighbors and becoming a responsible and considerate neighbor. You can party and have fun without littering and causing noise and garbage and making your neighbors unhappy that you ever moved in. Please address these issues.(do you have a sidewalk café license? no? so get your parked patrons off of my sidewalk and ask them to eat inside. thank you.) Please. Thank you. Your neighbor.

Stopped by the Hide Out to catch a few innings of the Yankee Game. Wouldn’t call it your typical sports bar but they did have plenty of TV’s. Good crowd everyone was enjoying themselves. If you’re looking for a place to sit have a beer catch a few innings, the Hide Out is a good place to start. During the night they had a DJ and from what I was told you can listen to a good band. Give it a try you might find yourself a new place to relax.

Heavy drinkers of Bay Ridge! You have been given a new lease on life! Well, somewhat. A new lease on misery, is maybe the better way to say it. You know. when I’m drinking. most of the time I don’t want to look at anybody or anything. I want bare minimum of stimuli. I don’t wants lights in my eyes, loud voices over my shoulder, bad beats in my ear; or horse-play. I want nothing except the next sip or gulp or swig of liquor. Don’t bother me, just leave me alone. Don’t offer me anything. Don’t make me think. This is becoming increasingly hard to find in Bay Ridge bars. Most of them are doing cartwheels to attract more business in these tough times. Arcade games, live music, appetizers, lotto machine, pool tables, free buffet… yada yada yada. A welcome relief to all these shenanigans is the transformation of the old Wicked Monk bar on 5th Ave into a new bar named ‘The Hide Out’. And the name fits. This is a bar you can disappear in(just as when it was still the Monk) and escape the bullchit world out there. This is a bar you come into to get wasted. Its all about the drinking. Bam. Bam. Bam. Bam. Another? Yes please. Whaddya have there buddy. There ya go. Bam. Slam those shots down! All the paraphrenalia of the Monk has been stripped away and while this is poignant(tugs-at-the-heart-strings-of-any-former-Monk-regular) nonetheless, the core of the original bar – the bedrock – has survived. The most important parts. Still present are the slate floor, the narrow dimensions, the low ceiling… but now its raw walls; no frills, no signs, crap or kitsch or memorabilia draped over everything. A clean start! The interior is just a ripped, eviscerated-looking hole; a bare, scraped-down, sterile experience. just bar taps, register, a few chairs. It feels like hanging out, playing hooky, in someone’s basement or garage. And its GREAT. Just like the Monk: shadowy, embracing, and all-enveloping. Plenty of floorspace to weave around in, ledges to slouch your elbow on, and dark corners to go crumble away in. On a Friday and Saturday night, a hulking, bald-headed badass(I believe he’s the new owner) is on duty and he looks like he means business. He is cheerful and smiling and glad to have you ‘breaking in’ his new bar. Seems to be well-known in the neighborhood. But he also looks like no one to mess with. He wants no nonsense. In short, do not come to the Hide-Out to make trouble. Come here to drink – heavily – and leave trouble outside. Keep this place unsupervised, unmonitored, individual-responsibility.ugly, grim, straight-ahead. We need it this way. Yep. I am ecstatic that this legendary, nearly-magical watering-hole has remained in place to service the quiet, skulking, shuffling, drinker such as myself. It has not been turned into another pointless 99-cent store or something. By all means, let the bright shiny new Wicked Monk location on 3rd Ave, cater to bubblegum kids and garage-boy-bands from Mill Basin, swilling Arnold Palmers in mason jars. Good luck with that. The ‘Hide-Out’ will be a bar which dispenses plain unadulterated, personal fate. It will be your enemy only if you make it your enemy, it will be a friend to those who have no friends. It will be a bar which welcomes both ‘old faces’ and ‘new regulars’. A bar where you will embrace your inner child and your secret elder. It will be a bar where you will meet… YOURDESTINY, TAYLOR!
