I had a really nice Provencal Omelette here for brunch. It was surprisingly empty at 10am, but it picked up around noon although it never got full. The service left a little to be desired.

We came here for brunch on Sunday because all the other restaurants around it were full(what? honesty is important). It was good but I honestly can’t remember what I had other than the bacon. And bacon is hard to mess up. So I probably wouldn’t come here again, but that really doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try it.

We were on the hunt for Sunday brunch on the UWS and there were waits absolutely everywhere, and it was wayyyy too cold to hang outside and wait. The French Coast had no wait so we took a table immediately. We had standard brunch fare, omelets, waffles, and a nutella/strawberry crêpe to finish with. it seems they don’t have a full liquor license, so no bloody mary’s(they did serve mimosas for $ 5 though!) My waffle was fine, nothing to write home about but not bad. The whipped cream was amazing! My friends enjoyed their egg dishes and we were super excited for the crêpe… it came out lukewarm so we were not thaat impressed. Overall, a decent spot in the neighborhood but probably wouldn’t run back.

I think I have just found a new restaurant that could be in my NYC top 10. Everything is perfect and delicious. We ate and drank a ton and were glad to stay $ 350 later. How can you spend $ 350 at a place where most items are under $ 14? 5 bottles of sensational wine later. Duck Liver Truffle and Mushroom Mousse. 5 stars. A generous serving of pâté that came with toast, fig jelly and I believe little pickles on top of something else. Everything by itself, brilliant. Everything combined together, brilliant. Escargot. 5 Stars One of the best I have ever had. The snails were not smothered in a cream sauce or garlic, but a very light garlic and green sauce so that you can taste the imported snail. Feta Stuffed Meatballs 4.5 Stars I am a strict and true believer that Italian meatballs are the only meatballs. These have changed my mind. A good sized meatball with some very good ingredients. You get three. Octopus and Chorizo was not on par with the others. Both ingredients were over cooked and not to my liking of some of my favorite ingredients. Still good. So we were only going to have one bottle of fine. Then my friend came. Bergerac– 9⁄10 Grand Ardeche– 8.3÷10 Josèphine Dubois Chablis 7.5÷10 Mâcon Village Côte d’Or 9.5÷10 Dopff and Irion Pinot Gris 8.5÷10

Highly recommend the octopus appetizer, which was excellent and the wine was good but was not the biggest fan of my lamb pasta. The outdoor seating area is nice in the summer though so I would come back for just drinks and snacks.

The tuna was just ok. But everyone else had some spinach scramble which they said was really good. Def would come back, there a lot more interesting breakfast dishes Id love to try.

Brunch at the French Coast has become a ritual for us. We reminisce about our life-changing trip to Provence and the Côte d’Azur and feel l’amour. Unlike the usual soggy eggs benedict served ad hoc at every restaurant in town, the French Coast serves perfect crêpes, salads, and croques. Like any good French restaurant worth its weight in sel de mer, there is fine espresso, as well as a lovely selection of wines. The dinner is also delicious. I’ve had beautiful tuna tartare and succulent, buttery salmon. The dining room itself is certainly more intimate than booming, but the size of the space and the dishes remind me of a cozy brasserie in Provence. Absolutely delightful and thoroughly French. Un, deux, trois, quatre, cinq étoiles!

The duck confit was so good we decided to stay for dinner. Potato soup, ½ chicken and steak frites.

I didn’t actually eat food at The French Coast but rather just sat on the patio to have a drink with my fiancée’ and dog. The French Coast has a pretty decent wine list and some unique beers that I have not seen elsewhere. They were extremely friendly towards my dog and even brought him his own bowl of water. Even though I didn’t eat that day, I would go back just because of their attitude towards my dog(other dog owners will understand).

Great neighborhood French restaurant. Great presentation of the food and good service. I had the octopus app and the scallops, Brussel sprouts, and salad for the main meal. My friend had the beat salad and lamb burger. I had to be gluten free, corn free, and mustard free and they were able to accommodate me. Very tasty meals. Very affordable meals too on the UWS. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Came here just to grab a glass of wine before dinner nearby. I had a French Pinot Noir which hit the spot. Chill spot. Outdoor seating. Friendly staff. My review is solely based on the above.

Really it gets 4.5 stars. I docked it half a star for the nutella crêpe being a little to chocolate-y and the mimosa’s are a tad pricey at 10 dollars. It starts to add up after 3 mimosa’s. I had the provencial eggs that was absolutely divine, as did my friend. The goat cheese was delicious. Not too much, not too little and a bit on the milder side when it comes to cheese sharpness. Definately would recommend. I can’t wait to have a reason to go back for a croque monsier… My french spelling is obviously not the best…

Tried this restaurant the other night with a France native and I really enjoyed it. For an appetizer we ordered the fresh yellow fin tuna tartare topped with wasabi caviar and lavash chips. It was delicious. If you like sushi, you will probably enjoy this appetizer. For an entrée I ordered the Lamb Ragout with thyme and rosemary fettucini. It was hearty and tasted homemade, so I definitely enjoyed it. I tried a bite of the salmon with green beans which was very fresh and very good as well. The atmosphere was nice and I am glad to have this French restaurant in the neighborhood.

French Coast has yet to disappoint — love their oysters, scallops and risotto. Tasty wine selection and attentive service! Lovely little neighborhood spot!

The French Coast feels very intimate the moment you walk through the door. A smaller restaurant, you walk in to a lowly lit room decorated by bottles of wine and french artwork, tables immediately to your left and right. We were seated to the left in a booth, with a good distance between ourselves and the other parties around us. We were given bread while we made our selection which was nice. Food: Appetizer: Had the escargots – not bad! A little too saturated in garlic, masking the taste, but this is common. Dinner: Scallions and asparagus w/salad – good, not sure if I would get them again, especially if you are looking for a lot of food. Drink: Bottle of wine Great experience, looking for more flavors in the food for next time. Would definitely come again

More like a 3.5! Came here after church on a Sunday morning for brunch. It’s a very small restaurant(as is a lot of other NY restaurants), but very charming and quaint. Menu is quite short and simple, and I’m grateful that it does not serve the cookie cutter, standard brunch fare that every other restaurant seems to have. This sort of bothered my husband because he fancied some egg yolk, but I liked it. It seems each meal you order comes with a side salad that was surprisingly really delicious, and some bread(unless you already ordered a sandwich). My husband’s scramble seemed less substantial, but it was OK. I had the ham & gruyère sandwich which I thoroughly enjoyed. Overall, an enjoyable experience. The meals are quite healthy and made me feel all good inside! Definitely would go back.

Not sure how much has changed since this spot was called Café Deux Margot maybe six months ago. Prices remain exceptionally fair, ambiance traditionally bistro-casual, and some of the items on the menu(mussels, spinach with tomato confit) remain. Best of all, the quality is intact, not eye-poppping but nonetheless an impressive value for the neighborhood. I’m not filet mignon fan, but my wife ordered it($ 25), and the preparation was just about flawless — nicely charred outside, dark pink inside when ordered medium, with lovely sides of mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach as well as a red wine sauce that was reasonably bold but not overwhelming. Also had the duck confit salad with pears($ 12) — I was picturing shreds of duck, and this was more of a diced presentation, but the protein was abundant and properly done, crisp yet moist and deliciously fatty. Wine price points run generally about $ 40 per bottle, plus or minus, and the staff was honest with recommendations, advising that there was little difference besides consistency/mouthfeel between the $ 37 and $ 45 bottles. So that was nice. Four stars, for sure.

Very nice. Cozy(read: TINY) space, good food and prices are reasonable. I plan to go back. Can’t stop thinking about the duck mousse. So delicious! The duck confit salad was just eh. Someone recommended brunch. Perhaps in the spring. Service was pretty good, but had to wait a while to get a second glass of wine.

Came here for brunch on Sunday, was seated outside. Received my coffee in a lipstick stained cup. Was a little grossed out(got a new cup of course haha). Asked for milk, never got it. Service was rather inattentive & food was just ok. Oh, and it was 11AM and they ran out of CREPES… and side potatoes. What??? It’s a cute looking place but disappointing.

Great location. Fast and attentive service… But something was missing. Going to a French place for brunch I expected«more». Maybe a basket of some bread to start off with… maybe something to go with my dish other than a small salad. Now the prices are very reasonable and maybe that is why my dish was simple. My spinach and feta crêpe was just… what it was. It didn’t taste out of this world. Overall, the experience was meh. But the server was great.
