This place is awesome because of the chill vibes up on the roof, but be warned that it gets INSANELY packed in there, so I would suggest going pretty early and reserving a table ahead of time. They pour HEAVY too, so that’s always a plus. ;)

The rooftop was not what i was expecting, there was no music and too dark, and the drinks were not that good and on top of that there was a cover charge ! come on! The first floor was a completely different experience, the drinks were excellent and the music was alive! definitely a place to hang out and turn up

I am giving the Delancey a 2-star because the service was incredibly awful. The bouncer was rude, which was expected. It’s rare to find very happy bouncers at spots as popular as this. What really pissed me off, however, was our server’s attitude. After ordering drinks, we requested water, a pretty normal thing to do I would say. Not only was she very slow at bringing us out water, she told us that she would CHARGEUS for our water if we requested it again. I’m pretty sure it’s illegal to charge for water if you’re serving alcohol. Aside from that, I guess the Delancey is good for birthday parties since you can reserve a table at the rooftop without having to pay a minimum. The only requirement is a $ 10 cash-only cover. The drinks here are pretty bad yet still cost ~ $ 15 each, but what can you expect from a place like this. There’s also no music upstairs, so the plus is that you can have real conversations with friends. If that’s awkward for you, there’s also a club downstairs for you to rage at. Given that there are so many nicer rooftop lounges with real views, I wouldn’t make the trek all the way down to the Lower East Side just to come here unless a special occasion was happening.

Very pretty place and has 3 floors. The rooftop is decorated very tropical like and the first and second floor have music/dancing, but it gets very crowded on weekends. The cocktails are made well and are standard NYC prices. However, there’s a $ 30 minimum on credit cards.

We came here as soon as it opened last Saturday night. The rooftop deck was an oasis. Our group had about 11 – 12 people in in and we took over 2 couch areas. The seating areas were comfortable and the drink prices were reasonable. The only negative was the bartender wasn’t overly friendly, but in his defense he was still setting up his bar when we were trying to order. Worth checking out.

Rude doorman/boucer/greeter, whatever you want to call him. I went here for a group happy hour in their lounge upstairs(second floor), where we had a few tables in the back reserved. The place is tropical and I’m sure would’ve been nice on a warmer day when the roof is actually open. Unfortunately, it was a rainy, dreary day when I went and not only was the roof closed, but it was really dark in here for a Friday afternoon and the place just felt humid and dingy. Did not like the really rowdy crowd that was also having a party up there. The place is kind of hard to get to past Clinton on Delancey to the left of the bridge. It’s easy to miss the entrance if you’re not paying attention. Overall, I wouldn’t go out of your way to go here, there are much better outdoor lounges.

Drinks are well done and the reggae is great. Came here a few times never checked in but I’m here now. Turn up Thursday’s. Came back again with some friend. This time it was a little less turn up but that was the good part about today. Didn’t want to party really. What is crazy is when you do want to dance someone always jumping in front of you. But it’s all good there was always a female to dance with.

Came here with some friends for a birthday celebration. The lower level and the 1st floor had the best music which was a mixture of hip hop and the latest pop music. I enjoyed the décor which consisted of comfortable chairs on the 1st floor followed by a rather long and cool bar set up. I had such a great time and the cocktails were fabolous!

I came here on a Thursday and it was… empty? We basically had the whole place to ourselves(on the first floor). Granted, we got there pretty much right when it opened(around 6), but we had a private area until about 10, and when we left there were only a few people at the bar. Maybe everyone went upstairs? So weird considering all these other reviews said this place is super-crowded. Maybe it’s only on the weekends. Anyway, I was really annoyed when I ordered an old-fashioned and it tasted… gross. Like cough syrup. I asked the bartender if this was an old-fashioned, and HETOOKOUTHISPHONETOSHOWMEHOWANOLD-FASHIONEDISMADE. Very patronizing. I think they used grenadine rather than sugar or simple syrup. I asked for another one without sweetener and it was much better. They have some small plates to order, but nothing was particularly good. The pizza in particular was not good. They did have a good happy hour deal but only for a few beers(and they don’t have drafts at all). There’s one area in the back for a private group, and it was great. Served our needs fine. I’d actually come back given how quiet it was if I just wanted to go to a super-casual place in the area with no cover.

Was here for a friend-of-a-friend’s birthday party with some close friends. Didn’t care for the other people, but my friends and I had a good time. The rooftop was kind of dead and people were mingling/eating/drinking — the real party was downstairs. The music was great and we were having a good time, the crowd was cool, too, and it was an overall nice environment to be in. One thing I need to mention — this drink a bartender made me. I don’t know her name but she was Asian, and she made THE best drink I’d tried. Wanted something with whisky but without the usual kick in the butt that usually comes along, and she made it happen!

Great for birthday parties since you can reserve tables for free. My friend had her party here and it was nice to have a private space upstairs. The only reason it’s four stars is because there was no music upstairs. We heard music on the first floor, but it was crazy packed – could barely squeeze through the crowd.

This review is only for the late night scene here. There are three floors total. Roof top was full of drunk kids; ground floor had pop/top 50 music and drunk people; basement was packed with hip pop music, topped with a super slow bartender… and drunk people. Yup, if you are a 30+ of age and self respecting adult, avoid this place post 11pm.

Good drinks. Great Vibes. Great music. I cam here because a friend of mine through a hip hop event and it turned out to be fantastic! The DJ was amazing and was playing all the jams that made you raise up off of your seat and hit your jig something serious. The drinks were good. The pricing was to be expected. Regular manhattan $ 11 priced drinks. It packed a small little zing… I really should’ve opted for a rum and coke or stronger. I gave the delancy 4 stars because I have yet to see the rooftop yet! So I’ll update as soon as I see what the major hype is about. The pictures of it look marvelous though! If I’m impressed, then surely enough this review will be 5 stars!

I’ve been to this spot now for a total of 3 – 5 times. Upon my last visit here, early to mid January, I got to see what the downstairs area looked like. I don’t know if it’s more spacious down there or if more people just tend to stay upstairs, but I definitely had enough room to dance the night away. The times prior to my last visit, I was always upstairs and it got pretty crowded up there. On Sunday nights, free admission to the downstairs area goes down every weekend. They played trap music and some throwbacks from the Hip-Hop genre. The bar downstairs, you’re not allowed to sit at. You can only order your drinks there and must return to a couch, stool against a wall, stand in the middle of the dance floor as you shimmy with drink in hand or post up against a wall in a dark corner. My choice was mostly to shimmy with drink in hand while in front of a stool. I think I got there around 9 or 10 pm and it was pretty barren of people. I think it was the birthday of someone’s grandmother because some old lady was getting down on that dance floor! In fact, she started it up!!! I love to see people get up and have fun. I wouldn’t say I hate being the only one to dance, Lord knows I don’t give 2 fucks about someone hating on my having fun, but seeing people enjoy themselves makes me smile. Besides, it’s a party, so get your ass up and move!!! No? You don’t want to show off your moves, whether rhythm-less or in sync with the music? Feel free to watch me then because I sure as hell will show off mine!!! If you plan on purchasing drinks at the bar with a card, debit or credit, make sure you have at least $ 30 on it to cover the minimum amount you’re going to be required to spend with it. Why is there a minimum of $ 30 when paying with a card? You’ll have to ask the bartender because finding out that answer wasn’t on my list of priorities while partying. What I can tell you is that the bartender made sure to let me know beforehand, as she did others, and I happily obliged. There’s also a sign behind the bar which informs you of such info also, but some people don’t have good eyesight so I hope the bartender continues to remind everyone. There was a crew of female DJ’s which impressed me just on the fact of their gender. Until that night, I’d never been to a venue where the DJ is a woman. I totally am with the whole Girl-Power movement. Speaking of «Girl Power», I encountered a staff member who had a not so nice attitude. Why was she mad? I don’t know. Maybe because she would rather party than work… jealous much? Maybe she was on her menstrual cycle… hmm…oh well. Luckily another staff member totally made me smile when she came over just to tell me she had been watching me and was really loving all that I did on the dance floor. Yeah, I love you too girl!!!(High Five) Come out and enjoy…

Came here to celebrate a friend’s birthday. It is a little out of the way if you do not live in LES. We got there around 11:30PM on a Saturday night and the party had already started without us! The venue is composed of three levels, all of which have their own bars, so don’t feel compelled to wait the absurdly long time it takes to get a drink on the ground floor. The crowd is fun, ranging from mid 20s to early 30s. No one looked as if they had just turned the legal drinking age, and although it got rowdy, it never got frat-level rowdy. Thankfully. Of all of them, the ground floor is the most crowded and the least fun. It is really narrow and flanked by two ‘private’ party rooms, which leaves very little space to move around, let alone dance. We didn’t stay on this floor for long. The top floor is more loungy — it is a covered roof top and they keep it reeeaaaally toasty during the winter. There isn’t music playing on this floor, which makes it slightly awkward. Even though there is plenty of standing/dancing room, it’s obvious that this floor is more for larger private groups who want a more loungy, less clubby, feel. I loved all the plants though! I’m sure it must look spectacular during the summer/daytime. The basement is where the real dance floor is at! There are ‘reserved’ tables all along the walls, but I didn’t see anyone actually seated at their tables, which allows for girls with sore feet to sit and rest as they like. The bouncers/servers were kind of annoying with their flashlights — which were way too bright for such a dimly lit place. I’m not sure if they were looking for broken glass on the floor or if they were just patrolling the crowd, but I wish they would have done so in a less intrusive manner. Drinks are reasonably price at $ 10 a pop per well drink, but the two we had were pretty weak. There is also $ 30 minimum on credit cards which is kind of ridiculous. Coat check is $ 3, which is also a bit ridiculous. Leave your jackets and bags downstairs behind the couches — it will save you a few bucks and you won’t have to stand in line to grab them later on.

This place is ok. I’ve been a handful of times for one reason or another and it’s never great. Prices are ok, crowd is ok, atmosphere is pretty lackluster and their rooftop is kind of silly. I really only come here if I’m seeing a friends show here(they do live music/performances some nights). There are plenty of other bars that are definitely a lot better than this one

Prior to coming here, I was super excited about the Delancey Rooftop Garden because it looked like such a cool and unique place to hang out. There’s tropical trees, what?! This place turned out exactly what I thought it would be: a spacious, comfy and tropical setting for chilling out. Only flaw was the tropical weather. Why was it so stuffy?! And if only they played music on this floor too, then it would’ve been perfect! The bar and dance floor are both located on the main floor. It was kind of dead when my friends decided to go dance but thank god we were a fun crowd. It was also a friend’s birthday so we really wanted to show her good time. Soon enough, it changed from us and a couple of people dancing to a lot more people throwing off some moves on the dance floor. The music also gradually changed from throwbacks to the current hits. The energy in the room exploded, which was great. As for the drinks, they were a tad expensive but some were really good. Bartenders were nice. Bouncers were nice. I had no trouble with the personnel here at all. Overall, I really enjoyed my time here. Had way too much fun and will return for the rooftop lounge since it was basically my favorite part about this place.

I want to love The Delancey, but I don’t. I usually come here for a monthly cocktail mixer, which is hosted upstairs. Had it not been for that, I probably wouldn’t come on my own… ever. It’s just not that great of a place. The upstairs lounge is large and open enough… has a lovely tropical theme. Only issue I have is that it gets uncomfortably warm up there(especially when more people come) and on rainy days, the sunroof leaks and drips on some of the seating. Not fun. Finally, the drinks are overpriced and not very good. I had ordered a dark and stormy, which was horrendous. It was made with ginger ale and so watered down. This deeply hurt my inner lush’s feelings. Their food offerings are beyond tragic– I would not even bother eating there. I won’t even get into the fact that there is a $ 30 minimum on credit cards. Yeeah…no bueno.

I came here for a friend’s 25th birthday around 5:00 pm on a saturday and the place was COMPLETELYDEAD! They made us wait outside for 15 minutes saying that they«were not set up for the night,» when there website indicated that they open at 5 pm with no cover. The guy tried to make us pay cover despite this but we told him we were just here for the upstairs bar for a couple of drinks. We went upstairs, and again the place was dead. Although it was dead, the atmosphere was awesome and tropical! The lounge was surrounded by palm trees and a tropical vibe. Because i have a fun friend group we decided to use the app amp up to self designate ourselves DJ. Yes, the upstairs area did not have music and they refuse to play music.

I don’t understand what all the hype is about Delancey… It’s a normal bar in NYC, tucked away in a corner by the Williiamsburg Bridge. Walk a little too quickly and you may miss it. I came at 7pm on a Friday night for an organization-sponsored event so yes, my review may be a bit bias since I wasn’t here for Saturday night shenanigans. It’s nice inside, has a few floors, and decorated well. The bartenders were great and attentive, and they had a good drink selection. Other than that, there isn’t much else to say other than for NYC, it’s no different than anywhere else.

Ick. I’m only giving 2 stars to this place because I like the fact that it has a rooftop. Not that it’s the best rooftop I’ve been on, but it’s always a bonus when you find one in the LES. This place is ridiculous and there are SO many better spots to venture to in the area. The drinks are way overpriced and watered down($ 10 mixed well drinks; $ 7BOTTLED beer — nothing on draft). I went on a Friday night for a birthday party and the place is littered with bridge & tunnel trolls sporting their fanciest jumpsuits. But seriously — girls were slowly walking down the stairs in stilettos and it looked like they just got out of hip replacement surgery a few days ago. Overall, really terrible spot with a terrible clientele, terrible music, terrible bartenders, terribly long lines to the bar & bathrooms, terrible décor, and terrible everything. I recommend only if you’re a terrible person who’s into terrible douchey things.

I have been here many times over the past couple of years, most recently April 2015. Ambience: First floor is where the dancing takes place. They have a semi private room in the back that you can reserve. Crowd is mostly in their 20s. The second floor is the rooftop which has a retractable roof. You don’t really get a grew view but it is nice. It is super spacious and very cool to chill, although you can’t really hear the music, so if you want to dance, go downstairs. Music: Music has always been good and includes top 40s and sometimes old school hip hop and reggae. Drinks: Decent prices $ 8 – 12. Overall, cool spot if you are in the area.

The three stars are for the ambiance, but I couldn’t get over the fact that there’s no music – at all, ever upstairs on the roof. I consider the rooftop to be the best part of this place with the scenic greenery, intimate couches and the option to reserve a couch for your group without buying bottle service. But no music?! I felt like putting in my headphones. Downstairs, there is definitely music and I appreciated that it was hip-hop/pop that I could dance to with my friends. I was there around 11:30 on a Friday and there weren’t many people there. Maybe more showed up after I left – who knows. The drinks were fine, but kind of pricey and no happy hour specials at 7:00pm. Not even on National Tequila day?! come onnnn. Maybe i’d return again as a second or third stop of the night.

Rounded down, about a 3.5 star rating honestly. The rooftop area is the best part, book/reserve a table(pretty easy to get one) prior and then you can get a stamp to go upstairs and stand around your own table with your friends. The setting is pretty cool, its not like you get a view from the rooftop, you’re just basically outside. We booked a table from 9 – 12:30 and were promptly asked to leave. You can also only order bottle service from the ‘menu’ at the table. Or the waitress will take your drink order. It got REALLY packed, we’re talking grossly packed by about midnight. Couldn’t move… the dancefloor downstairs plays great music, but you can barely move around, much less dance. The crowd is mid-twenties and the dress ranged from barf-y cargo pants to girls in full on club attire. The drinks were stupid expensive. I bought a round of tequila shots(6) and it was $ 60. $ 10 tequila shots is kind of ridiculous when I asked for well drinks(classy). Needless to say I didn’t get any more drinks that night. Overall, not a bad option, but wouldn’t be back again unless they bought the place next door and doubled in size.

I’ve had a pleasant time here during weekdays and on weekends before, say, 11PM. Not the greatest bar in the LES, but decent drinks, cool vibe, and a rooftop area that’s really chill. However, the crowd starts to suck as the night drags on — it’s almost like at exactly 11PM a line of d-bags line up outside the place to crowd it up and ruin the vibe. But that’s understandable, this isn’t the only place in the city with that issue. What pisses me off is the bouncer saying I had a fake ID, when I made the mistake of trying to arrive after midnight. I don’t look anything like someone who is underaged, and I have never once been questioned about my ID in all my life. I keep a photocopy of my passport on my phone as well, because hey, it doesn’t hurt to have it on you. One bouncer seemed convinced that there was no reason to not let me in and told the other bouncer that I seemed good, but he still refused. The only thing I could think of is that I’m one male arriving at a club filled with douchebros, and any more guys would easily ruin the pristine image of the club. My fault for arriving after all my friends(the majority of which were women) had arrived. Oh yeah, my friend arrived once for a reserved birthday party, but wasn’t allowed in because he didn’t want to pay for a mandatory all-you-can-drink wristband(he can’t drink alcohol because of a health condition). This was around 6 or 7PM in the afternoon. No sympathy, just pay the money or get the hell out of here. Real cool guys. They made a big deal about the wristbands, yet they couldn’t enforce random people from coming over to our private section and messing with our shit. This became a problem when the bar became crowded as shit.

The service is horrible, bartenders are rude, and I found a mysterious charge on my account for $ 50. I called the establishment 4 times. One time I spoke to a manager who told me the charge would clear, and if it didn’t by the following week to call back. The charge never cleared 4 weeks later… I called back 3 other times over the course of the following week and left a message with an employee for manager to call me back each time. Never heard back. Thanks for stealing my money. Take your money elsewhere. Oh and whoever decided to use wooden planks on the rooftop was retarded, especially in New York City where women wear HEELS everywhere. My heels kept getting caught between the planks and I almost fell many times.

One of my favorite places to go for birthday parties! The Delancey is great for large groups because you can reserve a table(without having to buy bottles or pay a minimum like at some other places) and they will reserve you a spot on the roof with couches and a nice area for your group. It also has something for everyone: for people who want a more chill and relaxed atmosphere, the rooftop is great, has comfortable seating and is quiet enough to talk; for those who want to dance, there is a dance floor with GREAT music and is tons of fun! I have come here a couple times for birthdays in groups of over 20 and have had great experiences! Definitely my go-to spot for birthday parties.

This venue is really cool! You certainly cannot get bored with the three storey venue in the heart of the buzzing Lower East Side. Here we go and watching bands in the basement, dancing on the first floor to some genius and some not so … DJ mixes, hanging out on the beautiful roof garden(the interior is created by palm trees bamboo furniture & super comfortable sofas). The roof is perfect for groups and events. I celebrated my birthday here and we had an amazing times. Super nice and professional service and management,(which really added to my birthday party) as they made us feel very welcome and special. My friend Chris Barnett from London showcased one of his bands«Flowers» in the basement and was impressed with the authentic Lower East Side venue. Yes, I recommend this venue for visitors from outside NY, for dates, groups, birthday party’s, gatherings and watching bands in the making. Have fun!!! By the way the margaritas and vegetarian sandwiches are delicious !!!
