I had a good time here with friends about two weeks ago. One of the doormen was rude for no reason, but I’d hate my job too if I made minimum wage.

Stopped in for a beer, mid-day on a Sunday. Very chill, no waiting, decent beer. Ticket system is cool, buy tickets @ $ 9 a piece. Each is good for one beer or food item. Ping pong and foosball tables too! (There’s a full bar too if beer isn’t your thing) Family friendly!

5 stars if you’re under 25 5 stars if you’re a tourist 3 stars if you’re over 25 and there at night 3 stars for the food I guess that makes 4 stars, but I’m going with 3. A few years ago I would have given this place five stars. It was everything I was looking for: In the epicenter of the coolest neighborhood, overflowing with other intoxicated 23ish-year-olds beginning a raucous night out and home to affordable eats and drinks. I’d often run into someone I knew — great if they had a rarified table locked down and fun friends to meet. Even though the place would be filled with 100s of revelers, it never felt overrun. If I came during they day, I could enjoy a little taste of Bavaria. Today, I’m a bit older, much more sedate and don’t take interest in making small talk with frienmies during what’s supposed to be free time. For these reasons, I have largely retired from The Biergarten. It’s very frat boy turned IBanker heavy, so if you’re looking to meet a Bud Fox in training, go there. The Biergarten is, however, a great place to take an out-of-towner and meeting point if you’re going to spend the day in the area and rather not stand on a corner looking aggravated. I LOVE the Standard Hotel and if you’re over 25 suggest spending the evening upstairs at Le Bain or(if you’ve got it like that) The Boom Boom Room, I mean The Top of the Standard.

What a fun place to have a few beers with a special someone or a group of friends. When my husband and I entered the establishment, the place was packed. We decided to sit at the bar. I am so glad we did because we had the pleasure of being served by Curtis, Nick, and Elijah. Curtis and Nick made some delicious concoctions and Elijah was a hoot. Thank you for hiring fun and energetic people that made our drinking experience a memorable one.

3 – 3.5 stars. Not sure what to make of this place. They seem to have a great selection of beer, which is awesome, but the environment reminds me of a massive cafeteria. It’s located right next to the High Line, which is convenient. Seems like a fine enough place to grab a casual beer and chill with a group of friends, but at the same time I’m not sure if it’s something I’d actively seek out when looking to grab a drink. I’m curious enough that if in the area I would try more of their beers!

Finally I got to experience this place myself. I visited Germany and been to a few beer gardens and always loved the concept. I think this place did a good job and recreating that vibe. It definitely gets pretty packed, but I came here on a Friday night with my date and was able to squeeze into a table. I was surprised that there were kids in there, but I’m guessing they were there for the private event that was going on in the side room. There were also ping pong tables and a few smaller round tables off to the side if you want something more intimate. Definitely the draw would be the picnic bench tables where you can sit with other people. You have to buy tickets at this booth for $ 9 a ticket. You do get a decent amount of beer, so it’s not that bad in terms of price. Also, the place was heated and had a really nice ambiance. Haven’t had the chance to try the food or cocktails there yet though.

Ping pong and good beer in a nice but casual beer garden. This used to be one of my favorite spots when I first moved to the city — with its after work crowd– so It brings back memories. It started getting too sceney with long lines so we stopped going but when we came by for a drink with my friend out of town Sunday, there was not a line and if wasn’t crowded. Great beer selection, beer Garden feel with a lot of seating and space — and my favorite draw here — ping pong!

Fine, expensive, busy. BUT, it’s definitely a great place to go with a group of people and have a nice location to sit around with people for an extended amount of time, without worrying about getting kicked out. Also managed to score an awesome parking spot across the street.

Located below the Standard NYC this is a big«hall» with long tables to simulate the feel of a German Beer Hall. Went for a quick beer with friends while in the city. Crowded with lots of tourists and 20somethings trying to act older than they are. Had fun socializing with out of towners who were in NYC for the Jets game.

So apparently my Unilocal friends do not like this place. I’ll be offering a contrasting opinion today because I had an enjoyable experience here last night. That experience was definitely helped by the fact that some random guy gave my friend and I 3 free beer tickets he couldn’t use in his way out. Another bonus was the band that was playing in front of the entrance was quite entertaining. Before I even entered the place I was happy to discover that there was a beer garden in this part of Manhattan. I frequent this area and lacked a good place to grab drinks with friends. Beergarten definitely fills that void. First thing I noticed upon entering was the line to buy beer tickets. I found this to be redundant and annoying. As the night went on I realized this was actually a logical way of handling things. The line for the tickets was only about 3 mins and once you get to the bar you just order and hand the bartender the ticket. This prevents the bar staff from having to count money, swipe cards and other transactional things. This is why I was able to get beer here faster than other beer gardens. I tried a few beers but my favorite was the dark lager(black something) I forgot the name but it was tasty. 4 stars because biergarten provided exactly what I was looked for, a place to drink beer and catch up with a friend in the meat packing dist. I didn’t try any food so I can’t comment on that but I think the place is ran efficiently. As far as all the«douche bags» people are complaining about I didn’t experience any of that. Maybe because I came to interact with my friend and wasn’t really mingling with the crowd. I must say the people that I did interact with were friendly and as mentioned before one of them even gave us free beer. Bonus: Los Tacos No. 1 is around the corner. You might want to skip the sausage and pretzels and go grab some delicious tacos and cons right back and was it down with beer. That’s what I did!

It’s a great, cozy, outdoor location, and fun ambiance. It’s hard to argue the space and selection of beers. It’s a bit pricey, but for a beer garden, it’s pretty standard. It gets very crowded, especially when the weather is nice, which is a negative because it’s draws away from the experience, but at least it’s an open space. Had the pretzels once, they were not worthwhile — but I will be looking to try the sausage soon!

No térreo do The Standard Hotel, embaixo da High Line. Boas opções de cerveja por US$ 8 dólares. Visitei num domingo, lá pelas 20h, e o movimento era ótimo. Ah, ainda há mesas de ping pong pra quem quiser se aventurar.

I got to drink a beer out of a glass boot and play table tennis. At the same time. That alone gets it four stars. I’m not sure if the drinks set up — where you have to go to a booth and buy beer tickets and then go to the bar area and exchange tickets for said boot of beer — is due to some licensing quirk or a homage to German beer halls/festivals back in the fatherland, but I always find this sort of complication a bit annoying. Did I mention the glass boot of beer though?

This is a great place to have a beer and hang out with large groups. The beers come in german size glasses, and they serve some very god german appetizers. The pretzels and the bratwurst are the best options. The service is good. If you come here during weekdays, you can easily find a place to sit. It gets really crowded during weekends. They have a booth where you buy the tickets to buy beer and food. The beer isn’t cheap, but you pay for the environment and the neighborhood.

What a fun place to hang out with friends. I came here with some friends and we truly had a great time. It was a Friday night in summer the place was packed when we found a table to hang out we had a superb time. We played ping pong made friends with the tables around us. Enjoyed sausages and pretzels. It was a great time.

I came here on a Thursday night at 7 and it was already packed full of YUPPies. It’s best to buy drink tickets at the door and pick the beer up at the bar, $ 8/beer. There’s plenty of benches, but it can be hard to find seating, so get ready to do some standing! It’s also pretty loud, so get ready to do some shouting too! I really enjoyed the ambiance, and delicious beer!

Dem bros doe. As far as beer gardens go, it’s not actually that bad, but the best time to go is during the week. Weekends aren’t that bad either, but you’ll definitely have an easier time getting a seat on the weekdays, when it’s a little less crowded. Just gotta keep your expectations in check. If you’re lucky enough, you can snag one of the ping pong tables and play if you’re sober enough to chase after the balls(ha). To get beers at the beer bar, you have to go to the ticket booth and get tickets for about $ 8 each. Pretty expensive, but such is life. The German beers here are all decent, but I would recommend skipping the ticket booth and just go to the side bar with liquor and other beers where you can pay with actual money, and not ticket currency. If you do go with the ticket option, make sure to get a pretzel or one of the sausages as well. The cheese sauces and mustard, with the soft, pillowy pretzel, is a pretty great experience, especially after a few beers. Not really my first choice in the area, but if you’ve got a bigger group, this isn’t a bad option for happy hour if you’re just wandering around and not sure where to go.

War einmal hier für einen Meetup. SEHRLAUTUNDVOLL. Ich fühlte mich wie eine Oma. Das Ticketsystem hat mir leider nicht gefallen. Warum kann man Essen und Getränke nicht normal kaufen wie sonst überall? Und niemand konnte Deutsch! Nein danke. Werde wahrscheinlich nicht zurückkommen.

Great spot to GOON A WEEKNIGHT, NOT on a weekend night. During the week, there are no lines to get in or for tickets or drinks, you can go casual(I was in gym clothes on a Tuesday night), you can actually find a seat and there aren’t a ton of weekend douche bag bro’s there. The large German beers are good, as well as the wurst(sausage) plates and the gigantic pretzels(although I usually rub most of the salt off cause there’s so much). I prefer the basic Bratwurst plate. Like I said, great spot during the week, but if you go on a weekend, it’s a different ball game — long lines for everything, no where to sit, douche-bag-meets-bridge-and-tunnel crowd, etc. So, take my advice and Only go during the Week.

Make friends and meet new people at this highly social Biergarten in #meatpackingdistrict. #nyc #barreview Giant open area with large picnic tables forces you to talk to strangers. The area is heated with overhead lamps, but if it’s winter, you’ll likely still need a coat even«inside.» Other areas have pool tables and additional seating. Even the bathrooms have a shared space, where men and women wash their hands. You need to buy tickets at a separate booth before you can get your beer, but I suppose that’s part of their efficiency system. Menu has what you’d expect– sausages and pretzels. These aren’t show stoppers, but make for a decent snack. If you’re single and ready to mingle, this is your spot. Crowd is about 30 – 40 yrs old average. Fairly mixed demographic, per usual NYC.
