Great place to work, spend time in. Big con though: music is terribly loud and of very poor taste — almost like they put it on purpose to make people leave quickly… Sitting there on a Sunday morning; we were forced to listed to a loud Living la Vida Local(R. Martin). I would say this is poor music choice for almost all places; but a café, I cannot begin to understand the why(why this and why so loud??)… Decent place though.

This is hands-down my favourite coffee joint. Comfy, inviting, with great coffee and a really wonderful staff. I will go out of my way to hit up The Bean.

I enjoy the coffee and tea. Its high quality. The service could be better. The employees coukd show more interest in customers. They are not completly rude but could be more friendly.

I actually live in California, however every time I make it to NY I always make sure to stop at The Bean. It’s my favorite place and the employees are always very welcoming. I highly recommend their iced chai tea lattes and everything bagels. It’s my go-to order every time I visit! I usually visit NY during my school year so it’s especially convenient if I need to work on any homework during my trip because they also offer complementary wifi and printing. Great service, food/drinks, and also a great location!

A great coffee shop — the coffee is good and the atmosphere is relaxed. It’s a dream spot for anyone who wants to visit with a friend or work on their laptop without getting side eye from the staff.

Love this spot. Always good for a laid back place to get work done. WiFi can be spotty but there is a printer!

Pros: the employees are always friendly and there are a lot of tables to do work Cons: the music can be a bit too loud if you’re trying to work and they occasionally blast the AC(especially in the summer months)

For the most part I like the bean. However, don’t love their savory food and the matcha is not that good. Ty their vanilla chai!

Love this location, atmosphere is really cute. I recommend the Vanilla Mona Lisa! Really good, friendly staff. Shoutout to Danny for helping out with my drink tonight. Really good!

Tea was fine. Coffee was adequate. Macarrons were very nice. But the service was terrible. The staff behind the counter were completely uninterested in taking our orders or serving us. Clearly they would rather have been doing almost anything else.

I probably wouldn’t have made it through college without The Bean. A wonderful little community hangout in the East Village with coffee that is superior to Starbucks, Think, and other local spots. A few favorites: Regular hot coffee, cold brew, the doctor is in tea, and the BEST chai latte anywhere around. Seriously. The staff is always friendly and accommodating – and quick! As others have said, sometimes it’s difficult to grab a seat but they can’t help that everyone wants to work there ;)

Best. Chai. Latte. Ever. I don’t know how they make it, but it’s the creamiest in the city. Seating is limited but if you are lucky enough to snag a seat, it’s a nice cozy place to work with Wifi, with a local east village vibe. I haven’t tried the food, but I’d prob stick to the pastries.

Great coffee, but the service leaves something to be desired. I come here often, and my order is forgotten or incorrect more times than not. Also, the $ 5 «avocado spread» is just guacamole. Really disappointing. Great drinks though!

Coffee smoothie, wow, this was such a treat for my taste buds :) The coffee shop was really cosy but the bathroom was really dirty.

Cute little café with lots of fun pastries and friendly service. I also love the system for leaving a tip. Try the fruity pebble bar with some milk. Not the best café in the world but if you just want something simple and fast in the morning it’ll do.

Lots of great options for food and drinks! Vegan and gluten-free friendly. «The doctor is in» tea is AMAZING. I get it almost every time I’m there. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is that a couple times some of the employees have been rude to me. But we all have our days, don’t we?!

Internet café. Coffee lounge. Bakery. Pastries. Coffee. Without internet access for 2.5 weeks now(still ongoing) I was left in the dark by NetZero DSL, that I searched in Unilocal for a coffee house with internet access and found The Bean. Prices for internet usage time is very reasonable for ample time as I was online for 70 minutes of $ 10.00. Printing fee is deducted from your internet usage time. Their prints STINK! Low ink toner and I was missing pages from my printouts. With a friend I zoomed freely without disruption as he sipped his non-alcoholic beverage. Staff is somewhat attentive and permitted us to sit in peace and stillness without disturbance for as long as we desired. Despite the staff being attentive they were not not very warm nor welcoming as the vibe emitted. One uni-sex facility is available on the premise. Background music varies as my friend was twirling me to do the hustle dance.

I used to work here, and I am still an active customer even though I am no longer employed with this company. That’s how you know it’s good. I can tell you first hand that the pastries are fresh, as employees throw out all items that they feel are going stale every night. That’s more then most bakeries do! Their chai latte’s are really what I go for, though. Half caf, dirty skim vanilla chai latte, extra sweet. That’s my order, hot or iced. It sounds complicated and it is a little annoying, especially making it iced, but it’s consistent every time. Their juice bar is also, of course, on point. Cashiers are ALWAYS friendly and you can linger there for hours as long as you are an actively paying customer. I honestly do believe this is one of the best cafes ever. I do wish they played better music, though.
