Some one who actually attended this school 2014 – 2015. An I also worked in the office as a student worker. All I have to say from experience as a student and and employee. stay away from the school.
Student view– As a student it was good for the first 2 semesters. I had actually really good known teachers. Then came my third semester… it was horrible. I had a type teacher who was disgusting. She literally opted out half way in the semester about some crap with family so most of the people in my class failed including myself was due to the fact she left abruptly and the substitute didn’t know what to do because he was advanced type. yet we still had to take her test. Like how you didn’t teach us anything…
I had her a second time and the only reason I passed with an A because that same substitute teacher Mr. masi gave me all his personal work and notes from an advance class. But i had to fight for that A because despite getting all great scores and doing work in advance before it was due the teacher was hell bent on giving me a B. Then after I called her out she quickly turned it to an A when I threatened to go to the head of the school with proof of all my work marked and dated with scores including my tests with 100/​and 95 on the other.
I quickly understood she had an attitude problem and picked favorites. Truly snobby nature for not reason too. Cause I didn’t learn crap from her. So not sure why she was snobby for basically not doing her job and half her class failing. as if that’s a good thing to be proud of. That means you arnt a good teacher.
here I still got great grades A’s and B +‘s. I noticed I did not learn a thing from this school. Then came the concept art teacher who was completely gross. Not only in attitude but get this she taught us nothing. She gave us an assignment and told us to come back with work. no lessons just her complaining about her house bills all day and degrading students who actually know what they were doing. TOTAL IDIOT! yet you needed her to pass. your best bet was doing some half crapped out work and sucking up to her.
As a worker-​… My boss was a sweet heart most people like worked with were sweet and guess what edmc did to them. fired them all without notice because the school was closing down. An they couldn’t afford them. And didn’t need some because they wernt letting any more students in. they legit dropped these people without notice…
this was the last straw… I wasn’t coming back. I left on good terms but still a gross place to both students and employees.

please do not go here… I have friends who got to community college a have no dept and did more than I ever did in Ai. you would get more finding a community or cuny to attend that fits your needs.
Ai only wants your money. I remember sitting 8 hours calling students about signing up for school annoyed because I was hired to be a filer not someone to remind kids to pay when clearly they didn’t want to attend or pay. or couldn’t pay the large sums they were asking for.
Take it from someone who not only worked within EDMC but also attended as a student …

— Career advisors sucks. They are only willing to help you for 6 months after you graduate. There is no career page like how other colleges provide their alumni/​current students with. After you graduate ONE career advisor from each major (I was in fashion marketing) will call you which I find it annoying. Why couldn’t they just provide us with a website on available job offers !!!
–Some students there are idiots. Not serious about their work. Most sleep in class or text in class. During breaks they go out to «smoke». Why the hell would you not take this seriously if you’re paying 60k for a stupid associates degree?!
–EXTREMELY RIDICULOUS tuition. I had to pay about 50k for a stupid associates degree. Interest rate was crazy high.
–The people who works at the office on the third floor are lazy pigs. There’s always a different financial advisor every time you go.
–I Regret ever attending this school but I don’t regret meeting some life long friends there. Also maybe ONE or TWO teachers here will actually CARE about you. But don’t expect much after graduating.
Overall this school sucks. DO NOT attend here. They just want your money. Each credit per class is about 500 $. Freaking redic!

Lol where do I start? I’ll give you a short list so that you aren’t reading into next year.
* Just about 50% of the student body are kids who don’t take their program seriously. Some come to school to play video games in the lounge and smoke with their friends. Talk about getting drunk every weekend. Grow the hell up and stop wasting your parents hard earned money!!!
* In my field of study (Digital Filmmaking), more than half of te professors feed you lies about the process it takes to make it in the industry. I was able to to land a paying internship turned into full time employment right after graduation, but all I’ve heard since day one is that it’s damn near impossible to get a job right after school and that islets almost guaranteed you will be boarderline homeless right after school. (Just because you didn’t/couldn’t make it after school doesn’t mean some of us don’t have a chance).
* ALL ABOUT MONEY!!! It’s so bad, they send the ‘Bounty Hunter’ around, scooping people up in the middle of their classes asking for money. «You owe $ 4,522… Can you get that to us by tomorrow?» WTF??? Is this chick serious??? $ 4,522 by tomorrow??? Smh I almost snapped her neck when she hit me with that. Then, when I consulted my financial aid advisor, he told me I only owed $ 422 for that semester. Where the F*ck did that extra $ 4,000 come from??? Smh.
* ALL ABOUT MONEY… AGAIN! At most schools, if you fail a class more that once, that’s it. And if its a class required for your major, you no longer are in that major. NOT HERE… Why was I taking a class with a dude who failed it THREE ATIMES BEFORE??? Are you serious? And guess what? His ass failed for the fourth time… The only reason they finally stopped taking his money was becaus she got too drunk in the dorms, three up all over the place, fell down a flight of stairs and required 6 paramedics to lift his fat ass out… And of course he didn’t live in the dorms. As long as you can get financial aid, you are a gold mine.

As a current student of the fashion department, I must say that these teachers are as good as it gets. I’ve attended a few different schools and have been around many different teachers. Coming into this school with a BFA and some graduate work done, my skill set was more advanced than other students. The teachers met this with allowing me to take on more work and teaching me advanced techniques. These teachers are required to have a master’s degree and at least 5 years experience in their field. They often also teach at FIT and Parson’s.
The only reason I did not give this school 5 stars is because the administration are pieces of shit. Except for a few people, they are stupid, lazy motherfuckers. Make sure you are taking the right courses and don’t let them bully you. Stay on their asses until they do their jobs. And don’t listen to the bullshit the recruiters tell you.

This is a FOR-​PROFIT school that will put you in debt. I was researching schools in NYC and came across this one. I was VERY surprised to get multiple calls after filling out a simple «more info, please» request on their website. The admissions guy called me all day long, I finally picked up and he went into SALESMAN mode. He was talking about paying application fees the next day when I was very unsure if I wanted to attend.
In short, this school may give you an education, but it’s main purpose is to MAKE MONEY from students. Don’t be fooled.

In my very, very not urgent, not in a hurry, just-​looking search for possible online art courses (let me repeat that: NOT URGENT), I filled out the information they required to receive more information about the online division.
The next day at 9am started a barrage of what ended up being 7 calls to my cell phone, per day, for the next three days. I couldn’t pick up because i was at work, but also, SEVEN TIMES? Am I alone when I think that’s absolutely ridiculous? My MOTHER does not call me that much. I also received an email from the assistant admissions director reaching out to me as well, and told her that I needed to be on the do not call list, because I had wanted information I could look at on my own time, not to be led through with someone who was going to do their absolute best to sell something to me. She seemed understanding and said she would do that for me.
Two days later I start receiving calls again. Picked up angrily this time and told the girl on the other end to put me on the damn list. I have their number saved in my phone so I know who it is. She said she couldn’t find my number, which was very confusing. Four days later (today) I receive ANOTHER call (they started late today — 11:30) and the girl understandably was confused as to why I was so annoyed and wanted to not be contacted anymore. «Didn’t you fill out an application? Do you WANT to go go school?» I said yes, but I was just looking, and didn’t want to constantly be harassed with phone calls. She went on a whole rave about how she was from the Online Division and so was separate from the ground campus, maybe I had mixed up their number with another school, how I had been assigned a personalized team of people to help me, and I said NO. I said I was unsure about this school, I was just looking, I don’t want to be contacted by phone, just send me an email or something.
She also had the audacity to tell me, «Well, we have to know if you’re serious about us, and if we’re wasting our time on you.» Suddenly, I’m the one who wasting THEIR time. This confused me as I was not the one calling 100 times a day every minute on the minute, nor was I the one who requested this much attention, really. I held my tongue and my temper and repeated my request, after which she got huffy and hung up on me.
Safe to say after that experience alone, not even after any open houses or further research: no.

I am a grad of Ai, when I started there it was the New York Restaurant School. The changed names and kept all of the faculty, I had the honor of taking classes with the chefs and being their office bitch for awhile. I have nothing bad to say about them, its because of this school that I was placed in the job where I started my future. I became a sous chef at 23 with them and an executive chef at 28, they did as much as they could for me as well as other students. Sadly they do not offer culinary anymore, but for all the stuck up CIA kids, you dont need to pay double the price to get a good education, and I’m proof of this and so are many other chefs i’ve work with and for. We all went to Ai. They can give you so much and its up to you do handle your own business.

Not worth the 100,000 dollar debt I’m in. Go to Fit, SVA or if you can afford it Parsons. You do learn a little in this school but IT IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY. Go get an in depth education @ a real school with credibility to its name. I went to this school for 3 years for and Associates in Occupational Studies. It’s a crappy degree that doesn’t allow you to transfer credits. Most people drop out because they cant afford to stay in the school. It’s owned by a bank they always find a way to screw you. Still not convinced about how much this school sucks watch this

Hi i am really interested in attending a film school in NY, can any one help me out i haven’t taken the SAT an i don’t think i’m going to i live in Charlotte, NC an i would require student housing also Can someone please give me some good places to look at. I am really attempting to get this message out to everyone before they ruin their life with this bullshit school.
I attended this school for a year. PLEASE DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME GOING THERE! I AM CURRENTLY IN $ 20K DEBT FOR NON TRANSFERABLE CREDITS BECAUSE OF AI. And I wouldn’t feel so bad about it if maybe I actually learned something there, but most of the teachers there aren’t professional and don’t really care how you do as long as they get paid. Students who attend this school aren’t «Filtered» because it doesn’t take much to get accepted into Ai, therefore the school is filled with ghetto thugs and junkies as well as immature assholes. Please If you can save yourself from going there… DO. I know they bribe people with fancy equipement and the nice look of the school, but Ai IS A SCAM. I REPEAT… Ai IS A SCAM!!! And I’m still having to pay of my $ 20,000 for NOTHING!!!

I share thee SAME experience, after being tossed left and right… no no wait. let me tell you the whole story. See, i packed up my WHOLE life to attend school in NYC, i was told my financial aid went through and that everything would be great. It was NOT… i was asked to try and start my classes earlier than i anticipated, but since i wanted to go to school i figured… wth, lets go for it. I gave my boss my notice, left my life, packed my things, paid an extra almost $ 500 just to get to NYC and meet with the people there at the office. To only be told i had no housing, my papers did NOT go through and all i got was «oops, im so sorry». So i decided to make monthly payments in an effort to still get my education. I found an apartment and was flying back and forth from miami, orlando, and nyc to get all my things here –i started school a little late, there was a bomb scare of some sort and my train took me somewhere else, i was lost for hours, flew in the night before, scared to death and then – told with an attitude that i did not WANT to go to school bad enough, and that it would be taken up with their «head» people to see if they even WANTED me there but they didnt think they wanted me to attend after all the effort THEY MADE to get me into school (yeaaa sure).I was told that «anyone could find their way around-​that i would be laughed out of the school for getting lost (never lived here-​dont got google maps on my phone, i was given wrong directions, and just flew in the night before… hmm) I thought i was just going to school are we serious!!! I moved out here by myself, on MY savings, im out here ALONE in an attempt to assist YOUR school and i dont want it «bad enough» gotta be joking… after thousands of dollars wasted, misinformation given (i was given wrong dates, prices, and wrong room numbers-​rooms that didn’t even exist – idk where anyones head was), and a severe pain in the ass and waste of my time – i have never ever, delt with more unprofessional people in my entire life and decided i wouldnt even attempt to convince these «people» how badly i wanted to attend their school. I only have one praise to give and it is to the wonderful, wonderful lady who works in financial aid who works her ass off and you can tell. She tries any way possible to help you-​shes a saint. I truly do NOT recommend this school, take your dreams, effort and especially money else where. Now im stuck in the middle of new york, looking for a school with no one out here – thanks art institute of new york. and no… im not bitter…

I would strongly urge anyone to think twice or maybe three times before deciding on going to this school. While the teachers are great, the people in the offices have no clue what is going on in the other. I was told one thing and another thing was the actual case on numerous occasions. Wrong info for Loans, problems with transcripts, and little contact until it was too late. Seriously if you want a school that cares about you, go to another one. Over Priced, and Underwhelmed.
