Came for weekend brunch. The Brook Trout was properly seared, but I personally prefer it to be slightly less cooked to preserve the moisture in the fish. Gorgonzola grits patties didn’t do much for me. Maybe I am just not a grit’s person? Overall, it is a rather pleasant space, and will definitely come back and try other items on the menu.

What a delightful place! One of the best waitstaff in NYC. Alex(bartender) set the tone and everyone followed suit. Mimosas and Bloody Mary’s were great! We got the huevos rancheros, the breakfast skillet and the pan dish w the poached eggs(my personal fave). Def recommend! They do not take reservations tho.

I don’t know if I’m just lucky, or if I just have good taste. Everywhere I go lately is a 5 star experience. Today was no different. We showed up around 1:30pm and expected a pretty hefty wait line. It actually only was around 30 – 45 minutes(which isn’t too bad for Sunday brunch in NYC) but we saw some open spots at the bar. They are first come first serve so we plopped ourselves there and were greeted by the friendliest of baristas/bartenders/servers. Didn’t catch his name, but he had a solid pony tail going. Between the three of us we had the French toast, huevos rancheros, and the flapjack special. Of course being a group of 3 girls we all tried each other’s and they were DE-LIC-IOUS. The atmosphere is great, cozy and southern feeling and it’s very clean. Don’t forget to check in, by 1 mimosa get the second 50% off. If you are lucky like we were, you may get an extra on the house! Highly recommend.

Our experience here was average I would say. I ordered the breakfast skillet and it was quite oily but it did have good flavor. I also ordered the homemade chai tea and it was SO watery. They recommended I add sugar to it, but I never add sugar to my chai tea and I usually love it. The service was spectacular though and the place is really cute.

The server had issues remembering our order but I must give them credit for trying to make up for it. My poor friend had awful coffee and that ruined her meal. They didn’t even have gingerale for her upset stomach and she couldnt finish her meal. I ordered their farmers brunch plate. It was okay. This is just another casual brunch spot. Happy I tried but I don’t think I need to have it again.

Writing a review because the 3.5 star average is actually quite misleading. The item I ordered was fantastic and as good as the best brunch places in the city. My entrée was more lunch than brunch, but my friend had the eggs and had no complaints. I ordered the brook trout and grits. It was delicious! Can’t go wrong when the server recommends it. Light frisee salad with a lemon/mustard dressing next to two fillets of brook trout over grit pancakes(that didn’t taste too buttery). Also ordered an iced chai latte(chai not from concentrate — they seep hot water through chai tea leaves — less spicy and less sugar) I would definitely go here again! It was also pretty busy as we walked in at noon, but the line was for the sit down tables. There were a bunch of high top bar seats and the spacing was comfortable enough that I didn’t hear or notice my neighbors. Definitely try out this brunch place in Chelsea for great food!

Mewwwww. We went there for a post yoga work out brunch and was a bit disappointed. I got the salmon bagel and every ingredient came on a plate separately so I had to assemble the bagel myself: for the price, I would expect that my contribution would be limited to eating the bagel. Not sure i would go back. It’s a shame because I went a couple of times several years ago and had much better memories about this place, maybe my expectations went up since…

The food is like 4 or 4.5 out of 5. But I docked a star because their coffee was awfully bitter(almost acidic) and made my friend sick. She couldn’t even finish her food. I ordered the special of the day, smoked salmon over scrambled eggs with cream cheese. It came with their unique shitake mushroom hash(delish) and a side salad. Overall, I enjoyed the food. The service was friendly.

The first time I went here it was great then it has gone downhill from there. The hostess was extremely nice but the 2nd time they sat us by a table basically in the kitchen by the wall. It was extremely loud– the waitress was never able to found and they forgot 2 dishes that we ordered. We had to take them off the bill at the end since they never came. The food was average but service and ambience was poor

Good place to come for brunch near the Flatiron district. Would recommend the Type A Omelette — you can choose 2 ingredient add-ons ranging from Vermont Cheddar Cheese, Manchego, Feta, Gruyère, Goat, Avocado, bacon, ham, crimini mushrooms, peppers & onions, spinach, tomatoes, or pico de gallo. And $ 2 for each additional add-on. Went with spinach inside and avocado on the side — healthy.

I wanted to like this place, especially after reading the reviews. It’s a cute brunch/lunch place currently hidden by construction. I went around 1:40 on a Saturday and didn’t need to wait(party of 4). Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food, and it looked delicious… too bad I wasn’t able to! I didn’t get my food until everyone had finished eating, and it was pretty obvious that my order had been forgotten or lost. I ordered the tbsp omelette and specifically asked for avocados on the side, but when my order FINALLY came out it was folded into the omelette. It’s just a personal pet peeve of mine, I like eating avocado with my brunch/breakfast but not in my food. The waitress didn’t apologize or acknowledge that my food was super late, didn’t offer us more coffee even when our cups were empty and we had the«bottomless coffee», and didn’t check in on me when I was sitting there starving. When I got the omelette, it was just okay. Nothing too special. I’m a big fan of the mushroom hash browns though! I will not be returning. 10⁄10 would not recommend.

Modest 15 minute wait and super nice waitstaff — we stayed so long we ended up being the only ones left(we got there around 2:30 and left around 4?) and nobody rushed us or anything. We just looked up at one point and realized all the other customers had left, but the staff were just doing their thing. My friend had the huevos rancheros, I had the bagel with lox(YAS), we split a side of the shiitake mushroom hash browns(brilliant) and the iced coffee was ace as well. Super cute and super delicious and I would definitely brunch here again.

Service can make or break an experience, and this time it broke mine so hard. By the recommendation of a friend, Sunday brunch at tbsp was happening. My brother arrived earlier and put our name down. He was given a, «25 minute, 35 minutes max» estimate. It took us an hour to get seated. My experience would’ve been much better if the hostess had just estimated a little more accurately. However, she kept telling us things like, «You’re the next party of 3 to be seated,» and«They’ve already paid their check, and they just need to leave.» They ended up asking a table to leave in order to seat us. If we had actually waited for someone to get up, it would’ve been another 20 minutes at least. If tbsp had just opened, it would’ve been a different story. But they’ve been around for a bit, so they should know the behavior of their customers. If you know people like to stick around after paying their bill, include that into your estimate. Also, don’t use«max» waiting time unless you can guarantee it. The only reason why we stayed was because we were on a time crunch, and we kept convincing ourselves we’d be seated here first than if we were to restart the process at another restaurant. A lot of other parties that came in after us left before getting seated. Our server was also no help. I asked if there was any way to expedite our order because we were in a rush and had been waiting for an hour. Her response? «What I’m going to do is put your order in now versus later, that’s all I can do.» She didn’t refill our water pitcher once, and she served everything with a cold greeting. On top of all this, my eggs españa weren’t even that great. The bread was so burnt that it was hard to cut through. The cheese had hardened by the time my dish was served, and all-in-all, it was hard to enjoy with all the hard textures, slicing difficulty, and poor service. It stinks Flatiron doesn’t have that many brunch options, but I definitely won’t be back to tbsp. It’s too bad because I’ve had multiple friends speak highly of it. Oh well.

3.5÷5 for me here We came in around 4pm on a Sunday evening as we were looking for a caffeine pick-me-up and walked into this joint. It is conveniently located off the always action-packed 5th avenue so it is a good location for a little retreat. They seem to have a full menu as there are tables with wait staff in the back, but we just did a couple of coffees. Service was friendly but they did initially forget to make my cappucino before catching it and making one quickly. I also had a sweet tooth for something and they even threw in another cookie for us(even though I ordered 1) as there were 2 of us which I thought was nice. The cappuccino I ordered was ok and the coffee my gf got was good but not as strong as she had hoped. Overall a good and quiet experience if you are looking to sit down for a little before getting back into some shopping down the block.

In my daily travels to my workplace I have always passed by this brunch site until one fine day I was summoned to stop in. In scanning their wall menu and pastry counter I opt for what appeared Challah French Toast brioche almond nuts topped with confectionery sugar. The pastry was somewhat stale as it was not fresh. I also requested one hot Green Tea. Table Spoon has a good selection of espresso, Latte and other coffee related drinks for the coffeeolics. While service is warm, attentive and personal I did not like the quality of pastries. There were no condiment table for customers to attain sugar, honey or milk in their tea or coffee. Napkins are available by request only to prevent over-grabbing a large amount. Décor is very home-like and rustic country without the cookie cutter commerical business space. Seating is limited. Their brunch sandwich is very inviting for a return visit. Their eggs are fresh from a farm. The chocolate chip cookie(without nuts) $ 1.25 each is very enticing for a return visit.

I just had a great meal at tbsp! The vibe here is American and cozy, and the food is definitely for comfort. Four of us enjoyed all of our meals. I had the skillet: Herbed Shitake mushroom, potato hash, seasoned pork sausage, spinach, and eggs all covered with a nice burnt & brown Parmesan crust. It was hearty and delicious. I loved this meal so much, but the next time I come I think it’ll definitely have to be the huevos rancheros. I was totally drooling over my friend’s plate which she wiped clean. How gluttonous. The portion sizes are huge here and the presentation with all of our meals were so colorful and vibrant. Whip out yo’ instagramz. These meals are nice picture prompts, but they also taste REALLY good.

We waited about 30 minutes to be seated alone. Another 20 minutes for the food to come out and noticed that all in the mean time another table of two was served their food before our table.(We were a table of 3) Let’s just say, we were very hungry and getting impatient. The waiter only stopped by to take our order, bring us our drinks, and serve our food. Actually, I don’t even know if he was the one that served us our food. Another lady was the one that came by to clear our table and give us our check. I got the tbsp omelette and I have to say, it was too much eggs. The mushrooms were clumped up on one side and then next was the spinach. After I finished eating through that, I still had about half the omelette left which was just the egg. I did like the mixed greens and hashbrown to accompany the omelette, but I wish I had more filling.

Came here for Sunday brunch, but we came at the later end of brunch hours(around 3pm) so it was fairly empty. The restaurant definitely tries to give off a rustic, barn-y kind of vibe, down to the flowers in the mason jars on the table. No boozy brunch here — definitely more family oriented. The staff is very polite and were extremely nice and accommodating. The brunch menu is also awesome — the food fit in perfectly with the vibe, definitely along the lines of comfort food. The pancakes were massive and fluffy — definitely lived up to their cake name. I had the eggs espagne, which were honestly just okay — it was weird to see the mixture of toasted bread(a little too hard) with very soft, runny egg. Kind of hard to eat. The huevos rancheros came with heaps of everything — definitely massive portions. The skillet also looked delicious, on a bed of mushroom potato hash. One thing that got me was that a lot of their food have interesting twists — their hash browns, for instance, all have shiitake mushroom in them. I’m not fond of mushrooms so it was kind of annoying to have everything with a mushroomy taste to it. Otherwise, really enjoyed my experience and would definitely return.
