I have been going to do my hair at this salon since I was a a teen and it has never let me down. The ladies here are very friendly and caring. Sometimes I have tried to go to other places, but I always come back because my the stylist here are very professional and know what to do whenever I change my look. They are truly like a family and I love that I can go and relax because they understand how hectic New York can be. This spot is definitely the best in the city and has the lowest prices with amazing quality. I recommend it for any type of hair or style to go and give these dominican ladies a visit. And like the others, I am always getting compliments about my hair.

Best Dominican salon in town. Very professional, doesnt burn your hair. Since i started going my hair has grown. Mari the owner is the best. All the ladies are friendly, if you feel heartbroken or need some girl time. Go there. The girls will make you feel like home.

Best salon ever. For me the most important thing a beauty salon must have, it’s the love for their client and the client’s hair. My hair have been growing since I got here. I have to go back to DC in a few weeks and I’m crying already. I’ve never seen my hair healthier. If you go there ask for mari, she is the one that do my hair.

I decided to write a review because the past reviews were outdated and not a true reflection of what I experience when I went to this salon yesterday. I am a student living in the UWS and was traveling an hour every weekend to get my hair done at my friend’s salon in Brooklyn. I decided to check out this salon because I was unable to go to make it to Brooklyn and was in desperate need of a blow out. I have natural curly hair and it takes some time to maintain it during the week, so I prefer to go to the salon. So I went on Unilocal and found that this was only 10 blocks from campus. When I called to ask for the salon’s hours, the receptionist was very friendly and encouraged me to come in that day to get my hair done. When I got to the salon, there was only a five minute waiting period. The salon was clean and full of laughter and smiling faces. Because I went into the salon at one of their peak hours, I was in the salon for 2 hours, but it was totally worth it. My hair looked very shiny, soft, and healthy. I like to look polished for my work week and on weekends. And this salon got it right! The only reason why I did not give this salon 5 stars is because while I was sitting underneath the hairdryer, my ear burned(but I could have told the stylist about the problem) and also because the stylist was eating while blowing out my hair. She cleaned her hands in between eating and doing my hair so it was not a big problem. Best $ 25(plus tax) ever spent. I will be coming back. :) You can only pay in cash, so either bring cash or use the ATM next door.

The first time I went to Tatimar Salon Unisex, I actually had a pretty good experience where I got a bang trim for $ 5. However, I tried to get a bang trim again and this time they told me it was $ 10. A price doubling increase in just a few weeks? Seems like they were trying to rip me off even after I told them I paid $ 5 last time. The staff woman was also not really that nice about it. It was a weird situation and I unfortunately don’t plan to go back.

Worst salon ever — stay away, dirty salon space and nasty unprofessional stylists with bad attitudes. The salon itself is very dirty and the person who does the hair washes change with every visit. It seems, they pull someone from the streets to wash hair as many seem very inexperienced. You can count on someone picking up garbage or mopping the floor then come wash your hair without washing their hands. They get upset, but I always ask them to wash their hands. I find myself going to this salon in the past when I was desperate and all other salons were closed, but no more. I’ve tortured myself enough! As for the prices, seems they would change with every visit — I’m pretty sure they charge their fellow dominicans a cheaper price than other people, like myself. As with many other dominican salons, they also talk in spanish behind the client’s back — I understand a little to know they talk about me. My advice is to stay away from this place. There are better and cleaner salons for the money.
