Tasty picks deserves 4.5 stars overall, it’s probably the best«, healthiest stock quick pick up grocer/sand which shop around. The staff is really friendly. And I love how all prices are just rounded to whatever makes sense.

I’ve lived on gunhill for over 3 years and never knew about this place. My GF found it last night on her way home from the gym. She was looking for a place that has healthy smoothies. I told her GOODLUCK because I’ve never seen anything around here. And boom she finds this place! It’s awesome. She got herself a smoothie and salad and got me a turkey sandwich. Today we ordered a chicken and rice platter! Soooooo good! We never know what to get when we are home and lazy to cook because ordering pizza all the time is not what we want. At least it’s 24 hours. This will deff be out to go to spot going forward.

This place sucks !!! I ordered a cold-cut sandwich by phone from my job walked into this place 5 minutes later & my sandwich wasn’t even beginning to be prepared… there was one guy on the grill, another guy tending the register, & another guy cutting up vegetables… I just walked out… never again.

I am not a fan of Delis, but Tasty Picks is in a league of its own. Given the area where this is located, makes this definitely 5 stars. Most urban areas I have lived in or visited don’t have places with this selection. Any of us who have lived in quite urban areas knows the selection of Fried Chicken spots/Liquour stores vs Healthy food options is like 10 to 1 lol What makes place so great? Location, Price, service or Well take a look at the pics and here’s a breakdown. You can just about have them make any type of sandwich for you with almost any type of toppings, dressings, maybe bread(didn’t check the bread options). I mean it beats mickey Ds, Dunkin, blimpies, and your 50 fried chicken spots. You can any type of smoothie with fresh fruits and vegetables. They even have weigh protein, chia seeds, and other supplements if you wanna add them in. Fresh deserts lol. I mean that is a bad thing, but it’s a nice option to have. :) The way everything is displayed here is great. Everything kind of pops, especially the smoothie section where they have the Vegtables and fruits it’s so Vibrant. The staff here are friendly and welcoming. There is a reason why this place gets packed and I definitely would say this is cleanest option in the area.

Great corner store they have such a variety of products that regular«grocery» stores around the neighborhood don’t carry. Good salad and juice bar. Great place to go if your looking for quick healthy options for a fair price.

As someone who works at the Montefiore Hospital right across the street, I am glad I finally discovered this place! Great prices for great/simple food! I got the chicken and lamb combo over rice for just $ 6 and it was delicious. I recommend asking for extra white sauce. I would also CAUTIOUSLY recommend asking for extra red sauce. The red sauce was surprisingly spicy! and i’m pretty good at spicy foods. So… when i got the double red sauce. my mouth was pleasantly on fire, but still bearable. If you can’t take the heat, don’t risk it. their rice was a bit wet and I didn’t like their white sauce as much when compared to The Halal Guys. but this is so far the best chicken/lamb and rice in the bronx i’ve found! they also have a great selection of other foods as well. the inside is also very pristine(unlike most other corner food shops /food trucks like these) I’ll be back!

Awesome place to have in my neighborhood with healthy delicious food. Try the Peanut Butter Lovers shake. Probably the best shake I have ever had. One of the only gourmet food spots in this area located near Montefiore Hospital. It stays busy and the food is fresh. I go here at least once a week.

Great place to get healthy food within two to four blocks. Probably even more because they are serious about their business. I’m here every day, and it’s because I’m conscious on what goes into my body more than ever. They still have items like Coke and sprite that aren’t favorable but they have ALOT of stuff that’s organic. They are the first of its kind in this area, and I will miss it when I move on.

So I had to house/animal sit while my cousin went on vacation. I live in Queens so I’m not familiar with the area at all but I can tell you I was OVER Chinese, mc Donald’s, pizza, and Spanish so when I went on Unilocal to find something that spark my interest I was ecstatic when I found this place. The place itself is small and could very easily be mistake for another bodega(which it’s not). Don’t expect to eat there it’s a «order your delicious food and go home» type of place. The place itself is Pretty clean and the staff is friendly with fair prices. They also accept credit card of $ 8 or more. It’s a couple blocks from the hospital and it’s open 24-hours yes a healthy place open 24 hours(amazing) As far as the food Goes they have omelettes, wraps, salads, smoothies, fresh fruit, parfaits, healthy chips and candy. I got the chicken salad(chicken pieces, avocado, egg, tomatoes, sliced almonds which I substituted for carrots) I also added cheese and corn. In my opinion it was perfect however the chicken was a little spicy so if spice isn’t your thing ask if they have it completely plain. I also got the orange sunrise smoothie(orange juice, strawberry, banana, and pineapple) which was delicious. They have a big dessert case full of individual pies, cupcakes, cheesecake, muffins, Danishes, etc. They placed it right where u pay so course it was calling my name. The red velvet cupcake seem to be a tad hard but decent not the best I ever had but certainly not the worst. Next time I go I think I will ask how long it’s been sitting. I also got cut up watermelon and chips. Everything together was $ 20 which I think was pretty decent for that type of food. I would definitely go back and recommend to others for a healthy alternative.

Finally, a semi-healthy deli/bodega in my hood! Tasty Picks is much nicer than a lot of other neighborhood competition, and I plan to go back there more and try some of the sandwiches and salads that they offer. The shop is clean, organized, and best of all it carries products that few or no other places in this area have. I picked up a Bruce Cost ginger ale, but also saw that they have Harmless Harvest coconut water, Bai 5, and even Blueprint juices. For being on the healthier side, a lot of it is still junk food(potato chips, cookies) and they also have a gigantic dessert case at the counter with lots of unhealthy indulgences(tiramisu, cannoli, eclairs). On the other hand, they serve juice and smoothies, and they’re actually more affordable than many places($ 3.95 for a 12oz). I’ve yet to try them out but am looking forward to it soon! Tonight I picked up a falafel platter: $ 5.99 for falafel a with salad, pita and choice of hummus or baba ghanoush). It took the counter guy a little long, as he was helping put together another order that the other counter guy was struggling with, but he was very sweet and even threw in both dipping sauces for my patience. Maybe I just have a way with deli guys, but I always love getting service with a smile :) My dinner was good, and I got a lot of food for the price I paid. I wouldn’t say Tasty Picks is outstanding in any way, but for Bronx standards, it’s a welcome addition to my usual rotation of bodegas. I’m looking forward to picking up some juice next time I’m there!

Er… cheap is not alway safe. Tasty Picks prices’ may seem unreasonable for some, for example the smoothies however this is not your average deli. They have a large selection of natural and organic products stemming from nuts, seeds, to fruits and juices. Additionally their salad options are endless. I have had the opportunity to witness the employees restocking and not by choice. Coming from a skeptical germaphobic introvert they are great with cleanliness and handling food. I do not tolerate when toppings are not kept segregated. It just looks sloppy and tasteless. I prefer my cucumber to taste like cucumber and not beets. I do not want to stereotype but the owners appear to be Middle Eastern so perhaps it has something to do with the upkeep. They are awfully cool and understanding too. During the summer season Tasty Picks has a large selection of gelato’s to choose from. When they first opened it was a self service cart but they have a totally new system and consumers are no longer allowed to served themselves. Again it says a lot about their cleanliness. I have worked in the area, the hospital to be exact, for over eight years and most of the stores in this vicinity do not compare. Unless you visit Tita’s for shakes and smoothies, not to mention their hospitality. Well at least the men responsible for making the sandwiches and smoothies — they never let down. To say the least the few stores in this vicinity are either dark, crowded with ex-drug abusers or also known as a «loosie» spot. I may have spelled that incorrectly but then again I do not have the slightest craving for nicotine. Okay enough digression, this review is for Tasty Picks after all. Aside from all the stuff that is good for you, again that which you cannot find in your regular deli, Tasty Picks has a large selection of pretty, delicate desserts that just happen to stare at you considering they are near the front counter when you come in. Or as you are leaving prior to paying for your items. Either way they are unavoidable and I am convinced they were placed there to taunt me. Suffice to say unless you work or live within the geographical location Tasty Picks may not be for you, especially if you prefer stale chips, shopping in dark and dusty shelves. But then again who the heck travels miles yonder for a deli store. Pros: everything. Cons: smoothies on a broke day and crowds during lunchtime.

Great little deli across from the hospital. Very cramped, but the food, smoothies, and juices are very good. I had the lamb gyro with a touch of hot sauce. The pita was toasted and warm with a salty(but not too salty) bite to it. The meat was really good as well– loved the white sauce and the spices it was seasoned with. The only thing I wasn’t a huge fan of was the chunks of cucumber… I might go without them next time. My fiancé got the heart attack(lol what a name for a sandwich). Fried chicken, curly fries, «pink sauce»… The works haha. It was pretty great I have to say. The berry smoothie was really good– the fruit is very fresh and the smoothie was blended really well. There was even some left over and they have us the extra in a little cup! I got their green juice. I’ve never had one before so I thought I’d try some veggies in my drink. This one had apples, lemon, ginger, kale, spinach, and parsley. It was sour from the lemon but it tasted really fresh… I just realized that maybe green juices aren’t necessarily my cup of tea haha. Lots of good snacks there too! Great place to have so easily accessible to the hospital.

My favorite juice bar. The selection is incredible and the guy making the drinks is really knowledgeable about health benefits of certain foods. Would travel to this venue any time to get my natural drinks.

Er… ok? I came here after a walk through Van Cortlandt Park since I had been craving juice or a smoothie for ages. It came up on my trusty Unilocal app. The reviews were stellar and I was expecting something great! It was… alright. To me, Tasty Picks is not all that different from any other deli, especially around the hospitals in Norwood. Something like this would be nice on the other side of the Bronx where the closest thing we have to smoothies or salads is the overpriced Panera. I ordered a smoothie, I forgot what it was called. It tasted okay. It was also really small for the price of $ 3.99. If you work at the hospital this is cool beans but it’s defintely not worth a trip. You can get similar smoothies at Samcity down by the D train.

This place is the love child of Whole Foods and 7 Eleven. So no one would know, they snuck it away in the Bronx(also, conveniently next to a hospital, probably where it was delivered). Food is excellent, always fresh ingredients, great selection for everyone, from your bearded hipster with his ridiculously over-sized glasses, peacoat, and outrageously colored skinny jeans to your«I grew up in the School of Hard Knocks. Got a problem with that?», «Gurrrl oh no you didn’t» urbanite. They’ve got everything from Hi-Chews to the New York Post to Joe Tea to Kombucha(fermented fruit juice, I think… no, it doesn’t get you drunk, I tried). Staff is excellent, everyone’s got personality, and they’re über friendly too – I think the cashier/owner speaks 4 languages. Everyone loves their salads with endless selection of toppings(idk wtf is tabouli, but they have it) and smoothies, but I love their paninis and sandwiches(yeaaa now you know who I am, don’t you owners? ;). Prices are a bit high for the area, but I’m Indian, so, you know… and it can take a while to get your food around lunch, and sometimes they charge you incorrectly(sometimes in your favor, sometimes in their favor, although now they have a menu at the register), but overall, definitely your best dining option in the area(I’m looking at you VIP Café… No one likes a place with a B from the Department of Health). Go there. Give them your business. Help them grow and gentrify the Bronx(kidding…not really…) –The Gyro King
