So happy I found this place via the Unilocal reviews. This place reminds me of my old favorite in Hell’s Kitchen. Fast, cheap and good. Fast: I ordered at 9:09pm and it was at my door by 9:25pm. Seriously?! That’s amazing Cheap: Ordered an entrée, soup and dumplings. $ 17. Yeah. That’s cheap. Good: the egg drop was great, not salty(which a lot of places make that mistake). The steamed dumplings are a meal in itself. They’re huge. The pork ribs with pork fried rice was enough to feed three. Well. Probably two since I already had the soup and dumplings. And every item was pretty damn good. That’s all. Hope everyone’s experience was as good as mine.

Delicious. The best Chinese take out I’ve had in stuy town. Delivery was quick. Drinks cold, food very hot. Really really good pork fried rice with combo(can’t stand that yellow stuff myself), the boneless ribs weren’t very saucy but they were very yummy. Egg roll had more flavor than most. Only con was the scallion pancakes — very thick, doughy. Not the thin flaky I’m used to. Overall, bravo! Hope this place has an A rating. (Update: Felt kinda sick after here. Not sure if directly related but strong suspicion. Minus two stars)

I have been a patron of this take out place for many many years. I didn’t realize how good it was until I strayed, and ordered from other take outs in the neighborhood. I went running back to tasty king. The food is always standard solid cooking and very edible, and fresh. I especially like that they have seaweed soup which has no corn starch(to my perception) in it. Also their other soups are not overly thick, starchy and pasty like in other restaurants. I like their spare ribs(which I order with no extra sauce) and I also recommend the beef chow fun — is very good. This is a take out but there is seating up to six people. I doubt there is a public restroom, never asked.

This is my favorite place for delivery chinese. They have all the lunch/dinner deals one hopes for from cheap takeout chinese place, but their food quality is above average. The chicken in their sesame/general tso’s dishes are large chunks instead of mostly bread pieces and not very greasy. If you’re hoping for cheap chinese food that aims to provide high class chinese food, this is your restaurant.

Just moved to the area and I found that it is your all American generic Chinese food. But for what it is, it taste pretty good and the portions are great for the price. My only problem was that I ordered delivery one afternoon after having an extremely bad day; and while the delivery came within 15 minutes I couldn’t find the man anywhere. I gave him my room number but he stayed in the lobby and never came up. I don’t understand that. Plus it took me nearly 20 minutes to find him because he spoke zero English. I’m from the south, so I still have a hard time understanding thick accents. Needless to say he spoke nearly no English. So you imagine the ridiculousness. Felt like a dumbass standing in the lobby in my pjs yelling«I can’t understand you, where are you?» I got my food but it took almost an hour for me to actually eat what I ordered.

What happened to the OLDTASTYKING – well, apparently the rats(check out the nyc health department inspection) have taken over and have feasted on the ingredients(house fried rice was empty). Nary a shrimp, shred of pork or snippet of chicken. Really pathetic! The NEWTASTYKING does feel that inexplicably raising their prices is okay. $ 20.00 for a quart of fried rice and an order of steamed green beans? You have got to be kidding! Price gouging is so NOT okay. PLEASEGOELSEWHERE :(

Super sub par experience. I should have turned around when i didn’t see an ‘A’ in the window! But unfortunately I had already placed my order 23MINUTESPRIOR, and they still hadnt even started preparing it. The food wasn’t much to speak of. Fryer oil temperature is too low;saturated greasy food. «Extra spicy» General Tso’s taste and looked like sweet and sour chicken… Ill find another place in the neighborhood. :(

I tried Tasty King because of all the Unilocal!reviews and it was well worth the try. People are extra nice there, I ordered moo shoo pork and the cook told me the pancakes were breaking and asked me if I wanted to change my order. I said it was fine and they gave me $ 2 back.($ 9.50 moo shoo pork $ 1.60HUGE egg roll). I appreciated the gesture. Really BIG dishes, excellent wrapping(ordered take out), fast service. I even bumped into the delivery guy and he was riding his bicycle singing at 10pm. I’ll definitely go back again!

You know what sets this one apart from all the other Americanized Chinese take-outs? Not just the quick delivery or the cheap prices or the consistently decent food. If you go in, they have the sweetest pictures on the wall, drawn by the owners’ 5 year old little girl. It’s good standard fare for Chinese take-out — the food won’t let you down. But there’s a 5 year old out there who can spell delivery and that’s kinda cool.

Since moving to the East Village this has hands down become my favorite Chinese place. Delivery is quick and orders have always been correct. My favorite is the shrimp mei fun and the steamed shrimp dumplings. Excellent staples including General Tso’s chicken(free when you order a certain amount!) and delicious moo shu anything!

If you live in Stuyvesant Town or Peter Cooper Village and you like greasy Americanized Chinese food, this is place to get it. You might think that’s a negative connotation but seriously you cannot beat the price and you know exactly what you’re getting with this. Sometimes, greasy Chinese food is what you want, and they have it down to a science. Instead of ordering Chinese from Seamless, we end up always ordering pickup from here because it ends up being cheaper, and we’ve never been let down. All the prices include tax and are often rounded off so calculations when splitting between people are easy. I often order pickup, so then you don’t need to tip. Ultimate cheapskate, but that’s what it is. My roommate always gets the General Tso’s Combo with egg roll and pork-fried rice. I usually go for the dumplings, which are huge and are big enough for a meal in themselves. If not, I usually get the Singapore Mei Fun, which is spicy and loaded with veggies and pork. We often order at least $ 15, which gets us a free egg roll or soda. Come/order from here for the price and quantity, maybe not the quality.

Food: 3 stars(see below) service: 5 stars Convenience: 5 stars The East Village is sorely lacking in decent Chinese take out places, this is the only good Cantonese one that I’ve found that hasn’t closed down(I miss Tina’s). While you can find better in Chinatown, I don’t happen to live within delivery range. So this is my go-to Chinese take out restaurant, fast delivery and reliably good food for the neighborhood. As most typical Cantonese take out places do, there are plenty of Americanized Chinese dishes on the menu to choose from like General Tso’s chicken, sesame beef, sweet and sour pork, etc… However this place also does a pretty good beef ho fun/chow fun, mu shu pork, beef with scallions– when they’re not insanely busy that is. I’ve found that their americanized dishes can be a bit overly-sauced, but you can ask them to go easy on the sauce when you place your order on the phone if you like your general tso’s dryer and less soggy. I would recommend doing that if you’re the type who doesn’t like certain dishes swimming in sauce. If they’re not deluged by orders during prime-take out times(friday, saturday, and sunday nights along with holidays) the food they produce is actually very good for a humble take-out joint. But if you order when they’re busy you may notice the flavor declines a bit. I would give them 4 stars for the food if they were more consistent– so they range from a 3 to a 4 depending on the day and the number of orders they’re dealing with. Sadly their appetizers aren’t made to order(dumplings are not home made, and the shrimp toast is pre-frozen), but for the price point they charge that is to be expected so it’s not necessarily a negative(just don’t anticipate being wowed by their appetizers). That said I still like their shrimp toast– greasy delight as it is– I don’t know why. Other dishes I’ve ordered from them that are consistent are their black bean chicken with veg, chicken chow mein, shrimp with eggplant, and while I normally get plain steamed rice I will admit that I like their pork fried rice too. Their soups are pretty standard and in line with other take out places, only Tasty King doesn’t water down their soups to save money. When you’re home sick and don’t feel like cooking, nothing hits the spot like wonton soup. I can’t tell you how many times the crew at Tasty King kept me well fed whenever I was sick at home. Unless they’re extremely bogged down with orders I’ve found delivery to be very quick(I live 3 blocks away so I’m sure that has something to do with it). I also tip the delivery guy very well and I’m sure they know me by my address. So if you tip well and order often, I think your delivery might get expedited. Just a hunch!

So yeah, I get take-out from here on an embarrassingly frequent basis. Not the greatest Chinese food, but it’ll do for the price point and convenience to Stuyvesant Town. I usually get the Kung Pao chicken. It honestly tastes almost exactly like my old stand-by Chinese place in Harlem(Good Taste).

This little hole in the wall is a hidden gem for Chinese food. Food is really good, cheap, and the front desk lady is nice. Also, they give you lots of sauces. I only use soy sauce so I tell them to hold off the other sauces. You should do the same if you are not going to use the other sauces. Tasty King has a thorough vegetarian menu and I wish they never go out of business like most family owned businesses in the East Village.

I just got takeout here for the 1st time and it was good standard Chinese takeout. I have to say I normally hate the egg foo young my boyfriend gets at other places, but I liked it here because their gravy sauce was much more flavorful. The chow fun was good and so was the beef with broccoli. I’m a little peeved though because after we got the order I noticed they forgot our beef with broccoli, so I had to call them to come back and deliver it. This place is much better than that nasty No. 1 Chinese restaurant on 1st ave. That is by Far the worst takeout I ever had. I’m going to stick to Tasty now.

I tried tasty King for the first time last night. They serve purpose perfectly. Small store front with zero to no ambiance, but delicious food, big portions, and not wallet robbing. Big question is do they deliver??? I will be finding out soon no doubt. As soon as I have more love for my couch. We had chicken chow fun which was very well done, sesame chicken, mongolian beef and kung pao chicken. To my taste the mongolian beef and kung pao could have been more spicy. then again, I eat sriracha in my cottage cheese for breakfast… so maybe i’m not a fair judge? good place, will definitely be back :)

One of my default choices for Chinese take-out. Their menu is pretty basic, offering what every other take-out spot has. I usually go with the chicken and broccoli or General Tso’s and they always cook it right. Not too much breading on the General Tso’s and they really pack in a lot into the containers. The lunch(~$ 6) and combo(~$ 7) special also come with an eggroll, spring roll, shrimp roll, or soda, so it’s pretty cheap. Their delivery man is funny and cheers me up when he comes to me door. The workers are usually nice, especially the ladies that take your order. However, today there was a woman working there today that I haven’t seen before. She had a bad attitude and was even yelling at a young boy today for«wasting her time.» Her actions were totally uncalled for and I hope she doesn’t stick around for long because it will definately take away from their business.
