i used to love this place when i lived in nyc, all of the taste without the added calories. but in the advent of newer frozen yogourt, frozen custard, and gelato shoppes, i regret to say that tasti d-lite no longer excites my taste buds. for old times sake, i decided to get a small cup of french vanilla and chocolate covered strawberry. i could definitely taste the vanilla and the strawberry and the chocolate, but the flavours weren’t very bold. unfortunately, the price had increased since i was last here, much to my dismay. note: you can only have 1 sample/taste per customer; not 1 sample of each flavour, but 1 taste(of any flavour).

Low calories + low fat= no flavor. I guess it’s good if your looking for a flavorless lite snack, but other than that I didn’t like it.

i yearn for the days when there were tasti d’s on every NYC corner! this was my go-to location for YEARS — it’s a smaller one, but everyone is always really nice, the toppings are always super fresh, and they’re open LATE during the summer. anyone who doesn’t love tasti d is crazy. just kidding! but i could eat tasti d EVERYDAY(and by ‘could’ i mean ‘used to’ and ‘still would’ if i still lived around the corner from one.)(time to launch campaign, bring tasti d to astoria).

Was craving some soft serve the other day and stopped in to grab a cone. I got the french vanilla with the chocolate crunchies. I’ve been to other Tasti D Lites in the city and they usually hook it up pretty good. This time I was disappointed, there wasn’t much ice cream on the cone and the chocolate crunchies weren’t exactly crunchy. Maybe the guy was new, and hadn’t yet mastered that swirling action to make a great soft serve cone. Mine just looked like a round lump on top, instead of the ideal cone shape. It’s all in the wrist. Anyway, I would’ve been better off going to the Mister Softee truck that was parked two blocks away, better and cheaper too.

Yum. I love the peanut butter and the cake batter flavors. Today I tried the nutella. To be frank, they all kind of taste the same to me, which is delicious! Of note: A little pricey, but they let you taste a flavor before settling on one for purchase! Just one tasting flavor, though so choose wisely!

The only thing I liked about this place was that they let you try the flavors before you select one. Sure Super Low-Cal is a big plus, but the price is ridiculous. Especially for the size. Most likely won’t go in there again.

When it comes to truth in advertising this place is a brutal lie. Being neither«Tasti» nor a «D-Lite» I really can’t grasp the appeal of this place. I know it’s super low-cal, better for you or whatever. My question is where is the flavor? Bland bland bland. Skip it.

I would give this place a –5 stars if I could but since Unilocal has not incorporated incredibly crappy rating, I’ll leave it at one. I came in here to treat my office with some shakes. It was a slow Tuesday night and there were 2 teenage girls behind the counter. I asked them a simple question about one of their flavors and the little tubby spanish girl rolled… yes…ROLLED her eyes at me. When her colleague pointed out that I had seen her she then rolled her eyes AGAIN. I mean, what the flower pot? It wasn’t even like I asked anything complicated. One question. One answer. Super simple. I walked out. End of story. Never to come back. And I’ve talked sh*t about this place to every person I know since. There is no excuse for that kind of service. Not one.

This is the Tasti-D in my neighborhood. I long for the return of warmth when I will wander in here on hot summer nights at 10pm and pig out in a guilt free manner. Love it
