The best place in an around Madison square park for cheap and hot Chinese food. Ordered a General Tso along with Vegetable fried rice and Hot and sour soup all for $ 7.50. It was very tasty and they have given a large quantity of food. Freshly prepared and they also have choose any 3 options for $ 7.00

I work around the area and this was the first place I thought of trying. Honestly their really fast and very nice delivery people. This is my second time ordering from them and never failed to come quick. My order always takes only 20mins at most. And today I’ve ordered a general two chicken with wonton soup which very warm knowing how cold it is outside and the food tasted and smelled great.(would’ve taken a pic but it was finshed already. Would definitely keep ordering here in the future and try more food. But if you want something fast, cheap and good definitely this is the place.

If I could give this location negative stars I would give it –5 stars… From the moment I walked it was a mess. Food was all over the floor the last who handled my food did not have not a hair net or a hat on her head. When I asked for yellow rice they started to Fry«white rice» on top of that they made me feel like I was wrong for wanting extra sauce on my order… When I finally got my food and got back to my room it tasted HORRIBLE never in my 28 years have I ever had such a disappointment when it comes to Chinese food smh. I have live in NY for 7 years and I can HONESTLY say this is THEWORSTCHINESERESTAURANTINTHESTATEOFNEWYORK!!! I WOULDN’T feed my WORST enemy this food smh…

Completely unprofessional experience. My order took way longer than I was told and I was lied to countless times when I called to inquire. Never ordering from here again. Also my order was incorrect when it finally came after literally 2.5 hours.

Pepper steak and chicken/broccoli were catastrophically awful. Ruined my week, probably even ruined all of Chinese food for me. May god have mercy on your souls

I went here based on the reviews on Unilocal, however I would not return. I ordered the General Tso lunch special and although well-priced, it was not good. The chicken was flavorless and it tasted strange. It also had a strange smell to it. I probably ate half of my food(maybe even less) and threw the rest away. I would not recommend coming here.

I was in the mood for some cheap Chinese food and Unilocal pointed me to Taste Good! Only a few blocks from my office, I was pleased to find a down and dirty Chinese restaurant packed with Chinese customers, which is always a good sign. I ordered the General Tso lunch special which came with fried rice(white or brown are also options) and a Vegetable Roll(Hot & Sour or Egg Drop Soup are alternative choices). The General Tso was excellent and had a bit of a spicy kick to it. They also packed a lot of food into our container. I think I have at least three meals in there! Anyway, if you’re looking for something cheap and tasty, Taste Good is a great option!

Open since 1995 for a reason. Despite their unoriginal name, this is a great takeout place for inexpensive and yet very good Chinese food.

What more could you ask for, for the price? They take care of my vegetarian dishes just the way I ask for it. Responsive and reliable! Taste good! No, really!

I ordered from here for delivery and it took an hour and 45 minutes to get to me. That wasn’t even the biggest issue. When I called to cancel my order 2 times, she said she’d call the delivery guy and hung up on me. The third time I called, she finally said she’d cancel my order. THEN the delivery guy still showed up, didn’t know English, so we fought with him about the order until he made me speak to someone he had called on his phone, and I also had to contact Eat24 to cancel my order myself. I usually give the benefit of the doubt and I don’t usually get angry over things like this but I will never order from here again.

Should be called Taste Not So Good. All the dishes I tried were mediocre. Not horrible, but not great enough to return. All the dishes cheapend with way too many vegetables and not enough meat. It’s NOT called Broccoli with chicken! (And I like Broccoli, but this was too much!) And all the dishes were watery! Soup was bad too. I feel for the small businessman but I won’t be coming back.

If you like low cost Chinese food for lunch then this is it — they give you a big size. I would recommend the buffet style lunch if you can. I recently ordered beef and bok choy, they ran out of bok choy instead using mustard greens it was not good. However my other experiences have been very good. They give you a lot and its very affordable for Manhattan, you cannot lose if you like Chinese food. The seating is cramped so I recommend to go.

OMG wut?! Before you ask, I’ll answer: my meal did taste good. Perhaps not great, but plenty good enough. Or, as we used to say… good enough for government work. And that’s a beautiful thing. When I proclaimed that I had a hankering for some honest-to-goodness terrible-amazing(ter-mazing? amaze-ible?) American Chinese food(you know… the Panda Express kind), my colleague informed me that she knew just the place I had to go, then linked me to Taste Good. First, how is it that I worked for nearly a year near Madison Square Park and never knew this existed? Second, how is it that such a bastion of antiquated hole-in-the-wall quick and dirty fresh-off-the-boat-y American Chinese food has survived the posh-ification of Flatiron without being evicted by way of jacked rent? Regardless, I’m so glad to have found Taste Good! Upon walking in the door, I was immediately assailed by a sense of déjà vu. In fact, I had to look down and ensure that I wasn’t wearing a bruise-colored suit and tie, because the place reminded me so powerfully of one of the first such obscure hidden gem Panda Express-nots from my earliest experiences in NYC, back when I was still doing technology consulting! Nope, Taste Good is not, in fact, Mr. Zheng’s… [ although you’d be hard-pressed to tell the difference. There’s the same bench style seating, the same Chinese-speaking staff(albeit Canto instead of Mando), the same open kitchen with jetting flames and clanking woks, and virtually the same pricing. And, yes. If you must know… I did obtain the extremely generic-tasting shrimp lo mein that I was craving. It only cost me $ 7 for an absurdly huge portion of the stuff, filled to the brim in a styrofoam take-out container. I was full halfway through the dish. It literally took me the entire rest of the afternoon to finish. I was worried that I wouldn’t have any appetite to consume barbecue and beer after three hours of climbing!

Such delicious and reasonably priced food, and their lunch specials are seriously something to talk about. I love their chicken with cashew lunch special. Just ordered delivery and it took way less time than I expected it to. Delicious and timely, who could ask for more! Highly recommended!

I’m a fan. Work around the corner so come here often. Lunch special with 3 selections over rice for $ 7 is a great deal. Staff are friendly and helpful. Food seems authentic and quality is good for the price, though a bit greasy. But that’s to be expected I suppose. I like the atmosphere too — tad dingy but that adds to it IMHO. Usually crowded during lunch with mix of Chinese folks and/or blue and white collar folks who work in the area. So not the best Chinese I’ve ever had but great value for the price.

As a semi-broke college student, I’m very conscious of my spendings especially when it comes to food. I want something that’s going to fill me up, taste great and most importantly AFFORDABLE. Taste Good restaurant is the perfect epitome for great tasting food at an inexpensive price. There’s a huge selection of dishes to choose from on the menu, but I usually order the 3-toppings combo over rice with a soda on the side. For the 3-toppings combo, there’s a variety of toppings to choose from as well. This includes vegetable, tofu, fish, fried sunny side eggs, and my personal favorite general tso chicken, and etc. Not to mention, the service is quick, and the workers are nice. You should definitely check out this restaurant if you’re looking for quality food that’s not worth your arms and legs.

Dependable Chinese takeout with reasonable lunch specials. Order a la carte, or pick from behind the counter[1]. I’m partial to MSG’d Chinese when the mood strikes, so if you are too, go for their beef and broccoli or their pepper steak lunch combos. You too can be fed and happy for minimal dinero. Service has always been speedy and friendly, in my experience. They take credit(Visa and Mastercard, at least) AND they don’t sport spend minimum which is totally awesome though I doubt they’d be thrilled if you walked in and bought just a can of Coke. [1] I realllllllly wish they had lights to highlight the food — everything looks brown without lamp lighting.

Taste Good is decent for what it is. I’m a big fan of Jimmy’s House lunch/dinner buffet and was expecting something similar with Taste Good. If you come by for lunch, you get to choose 3 items with rice for $ 6.50(cash only). There’s about 10 dishes for you to choose from but the turnover in the restaurant wasn’t that fast and some items look like they have been sitting out for a bit. I order the beef w/turnip, fried pork chops and kung pao chicken. Tasted legit, and I didn’t get a stomachache(although I was scared!) Taste Good can benefit from better lighting, the cost savings from turning on only half the lights in the restaurant is probably costing them an infinite amount more from the customers turned away from the fear of the grungy, dark resto. Shoot, the buffet wasn’t even lit, so I couldn’t really tell what I was ordering! If I’m lazy, I would consider coming back to Taste Good but now that the weather is nice I’m going to take the extra 5 min walk and head over to Jimmy’s House.
