I thought the food here wasn’t so great. The alcohol was super potent but not delicious, jalapeño martini in particular. The prices don’t add up to the kind of food. And the waitress seemed annoyed that we needed more time to order. If you were to go there be super aware because these guys don’t have a name board and are the same as Diego’s, some confusion on that front. This place didn’t make an impression.

REALLY good food and who can beat a two for one margarita special!!! I wish it were a little bit cheaper and a little less noisy(hence only 4 stars instead of 5) … but I’ll be back for sure!

Ta Cocina is the best Mexican I’ve found in Hell’s Kitchen. I’ve ordered the chimichangas there three times, and they’re consistently amazing. I took a few of my friends to Ta Cocina recently and we got a frozen margarita pitcher, which was both great and pretty potent. I’ve brought several people there, they’ve always enjoyed it. It’s actually fairly inexpensive too, and it’s well decorated(the glass-top tables with Mexican food ingredients displayed below is a nice touch). All in all, I’ve got nothing but praise for this place. Highly recommended.

Ordered from here yesterday. Fast delivery(I’m in Midtown and that’snot always easy), guacamole was fresh and delicious, fajitas, quesadilla and refried beans were really delicious. If anything, they could have thrown another spoon of rice in the dish, the bean/rice ratio was way off. Aside from that I will definitely be ordering again!

I don’t know why this place is so under the radar. I live right by it, but I’d never heard of it before! I was pleasantly surprised when I stopped in for a drink. I ended up ordering the guacamole instead. The medium was super spicy and delicious! It was a generous, freshly made portion served with ample chips and complimentary salsa. It was hands down the best guacamole I’ve ever had(and this is coming from the girl who previously said that all guac tastes the same.) The bartender here was also very friendly. He chatted with us for awhile and apologized profusely when we said the guac was spicy. But, of course, we assured him that was the way we wanted it!

So, this place has actually been here for years and was a staple on my mexican food rotation. Let’s face it, Mexican food in NYC leaves a lot to be desired. But, in most cases, I am mostly focused on the margaritas and chips and salsa anyway. The main thing with Ta Cocina is its great drinks specials with Happy hour 7 days a week. Margaritas are 2×1 Sunday through Wednesday all day. And $ 5 on Thursday-Saturday from 4pm — 8pm. And, they are DELICIOUS! I also enjoy their salsa though the chips are not freshly made. They also have enchiladas mole(not on the menu) which is pretty good. But, after years of being a semi-loyal customer mostly out of pure laziness, I am officially crossing this one off the list. The prices are just way to high for what it is. $ 18 enchiladas… seriously?! There are couple other mexican spots along 9th avenue that have similar prices, but better food or cheaper prices and worse food. Depends on what you are looking for.
