Sweet Angel Dry Cleaners

Attitude. Attitude. Attitude. With the original caring owners long absent from the day to day, the current «staff» is nothing more than being transactional, typically stern and occasionally rude. Not to mention more expensive than other near-​by dry cleaners. And the «smell» of the dry cleaned clothes is no longer pleasant but mechanical /​machine like. Not worth the convenience. No longer sweet at all …

Do Not Go to this Tailor, they don’t know how to run a business. I’m actually surprised they can still afford rent in the neighborhood with the way they treat customers.
I dropped off over $ 150 worth of alterations. One of my brand new shirts came back with the shoulder stitching compeltely undone. The manager told me to come in that he would take care of it. When I got there they told me I would have to pay to have my brand new shirt fixed when clearly this was done by them.
Instead of sewing a shirt that maybe would take them 5 minutes and cost less than $ 1 to keep a loyal customer happy they get a negative Unilocal review, a disputed credit card charge and one less customer.
I’m sure it will be real tough to find another tailor/​dry cleaner in the West Village…

I am officially done with this place. I never write Unilocal reviews but feel the need to because I am so upset and disappointed.
I have always gone to Sweet Angel because it was conveniently the closest launderer to my apartment. That is the only reason I’ve continued to but I am done.
First of all, it is overpriced. Secondly, their hours are so limited — they open at 7:30am and close immediately at 7pm — and people like me with real jobs have a hard time getting home by or before then to pick up laundry; plus they are not open on Sundays. Anytime I’d get it delivered, they actually told me flat out that I need to tip the delivery guy every time. One time I didn’t have cash and told the guy I would take care of him the next time (I go there or get pick-​up/​delivery service at least every week so they know me well and should appreciate my constant business), and the next time I called the gentleman who answered told me sternly not to forget to tip).
Once last summer, they burned and destroyed an entire load of my laundry. Apparently it was the only time this ever happened that the machine malfunctioned, and yes they apologized, but they completely ruined all of my clothes and didn’t reimburse me enough. I stupidly continued to go there because they gave me some reimbursement in cash and some in credit for future laundry, so I needed to use it — but also I kept going because of the convenience factor of the location.
I have had items missing from loads, and I have also had other people’s items in my loads, such as socks and underwear and most recently a little stuffed animal. Anytime I told them they simply said they had no control over it since they send it out elsewhere and didn’t apologize or even pretend to care.
They are very unfriendly and almost act annoyed with me anytime I call or go in — and I promise I am anything but a difficult customer — I am in the service industry and make sure to go out of my way to treat others with extra friendliness and respect.
My very most recent experience is that I dropped off a load for wash & fold and a separate bag for dry cleaning, as I often have done, and two of the items meant for dry cleaning were in the wash & fold. One was a shirt that ended up being fine and the other is one of my favorite dresses that is now faded and shrunken.
I am beyond thrilled that a friend of mine just told me about Fly Cleaners, the app service that picks up & drops off laundry and dry cleaning to and from apartments, with flexible hours and in a timely and reliable fashion. I am excited to try this out and even if I don’t stick with that I will use another place.
So long, Sweet Angel. I should have cut it off long ago.

In my first experience with Sweet Angel, they ruined a brand new $ 300 top. The silk blouse came back shrunken and a different texture, almost as though it had been washed rather than dry cleaned. I asked about it, and they insisted that it was not their fault, and either the blouse was dropped off that way or it was made of poor quality materials. Basically, they insisted that the fault lay with anyone but them. I understand that accidents can happen, but the staff were incredibly rude and aggressive and offered only to credit me for the cleaning, nothing else. Needless to say, I will never go back.

I like this place. You would think it’s easy to find a dry cleaners in the west village, but I’ve had the hardest time. Dry cleaning has been good so far (they listened to «light starch»). Laundry done well with colors separated. Also with dress shirts you should get them washed/​ironed (~$ 2.50/shirt and not dry cleaned (~$ 6/​shirt). They provide a separate laundry and dry cleaning bag, well named (clearly ours). And they do pick/​up delivery.
The negative — price. It is expensive relative to other options. But the real thing that gets me is they charge an extra 10% for same day service. I feel like most places just offer that off the bat if you have your clothing available by 9am.

I will be honest, this is the first review I’ve ever posted, and it’s because I am appalled at the horrible customer service experience I just had.
I live 4 blocks away from this dry cleaner and started to use them because they are familiar with my building. The first four months, things were fine!
On Friday, I dropped off a dress and said that I needed it back by Monday morning. This was a very important piece to me as I use the dress as part of my work (I own a fashion label.) The manager there was nice and said he would have it delivered to me the next day, on Saturday. That didn’t happen. Come Monday, I called Sweet Angel and they told me it wouldn’t be ready until between 10:30am-12noon, which was too late for me (I would have already left my apartment for work.) After a few back and forth conversations with their staff, and being treated very very rudely (I lost my patience as well), I had to travel back from work to pick up the dress.
I called their manager today, and asked for a refund. We yelled at each other a bit, and what I realized is that although the dress cost $ 12.99 to clean, they simply didn’t care enough about me as a customer to offer me a refund. In fact, she told me they don’t process refunds, so all she could give me was 50% back in store credit.
It was a complete waste of my time, disrespectful of the experience I had, and simply horrible customer service. I’ve worked with hospitality professionals for the last 6 years and know when there is an opportunity to delight your customer, at minimal cost ($ 12.99?) The personality and business practice of this dry cleaner, no matter how good their cleaning, is not something that I can stomach. I advise you to go elsewhere.

Rude staff. I called for a price quote over the phone and they told me they don’t quote prices on the phone and then hung up on me!!!

I love this place. They do an excellent job and also have excellent customer service! I had tried other not-​so-​friendly-​and-​organized cleaners (and there are so many within a two-​block radius) and finally have found my place. Hands down, the best in the village!

I love this dry cleaner!!! I’ve been coming here for a couple of years after the folks at Earnest Sewn recommended their tailor. The guys that run the shop are super sweet and professional, especially with any alterations. Also, my clothes come back perfectly pressed and looking fantastic.
The tailor does amazing work. I can’t say enough good things about her (taking in dresses, altering dress shirts, taking in pants – including taking the waistband off to properly gather the excess fabric without it showing).
If you need great dry-​cleaning and alterations, this is the place!
