Having the budoir photography experience with Dan Milas absolutely made my year. When I approached Dan with the idea of setting up a budoir photography experience, he invited me to his work studio in Long Island City. After a warm welcome, I looked through samples of the photographs Dan had taken over the years. His beautiful collection captivated my attention and inspired me to learn more about his work. We had an easy and relaxed conversation about the kind of photography experience I had hoped for. With no sense of hurry at all, Dan and I talked for a while about… me… and it was all in an effort to get to get to know me in order to provide the best possible photography experience. Dan and I worked together to decide clothing, the hair styling, makeup, poses, and shoot location. Naturally, he had many great suggestions and ideas(i.e. stilettos! and a background prop of my favorite bottle of scotch) yet he strived to make sure that all of the choices represented who I am and what I wanted to express through photography. (Side note: Dan was on time, if not early, for all of our appointments). I booked the session at a beautiful, hip hotel in Manhattan. I had so much fun, especially with the music(which I originally picked but it was terrible — thankfully, the makeup/hair artist and Dan chose something much better). The makeup/hair artist was excellent and also had me cracking up at points — that helped me warm up a bit, too. I received the final product — a luxurious collection of finished photographs, 20 in all — a couple of weeks ago. I love them! The photographs were created with great care to preserve their physical integrity and Dan’s creativity and good eye are apparent in each and every photograph. I am absolutely delighted with the photographs, the budoir photo session, and everything in-between. This has been a wonderful experience that I will always remember. There is no doubt that I will have another photography experience with Dan. He’s an extremely talented, personable, unique, and skilled artist who I enthusiastically recommend to any woman wishing to have the budoir photography experience.

Let me start of by saying that I have never had make-up done professionally before and the few professional photos I had taken of me were wonderful, but all taken in a very casual setting. Naturally, I didn’t quite know what to expect, and brought about half of my closet with me. Dan met me downstairs, got himself acquainted with my wardrobe options, and introduced me to Amanda who was going to do my make-up. Amanda was wonderfully warm and patiently explained to me everything she was doing since as someone who isn’t using make-up much on a day to day basis, I was curious about her work. And then I saw my eyes… Oh, man! The drrrrrama! On one hand, I was still able to recognize myself, on the other hand, the magic of the smokey eye make-up and the fake eyelashes made my face quite a bit brighter and the natural inclination to bat eyelashes that much battier. Then my hair had acquired few more curls and the volume that seeming came from the thin air. After Amanda was done having her way with me, it was Dan who put the clothing options in order, and went on to direct me to place way on this foot, scoot that way, arch this way, look that way, and make tiny smiles with eyes only. Not an easy fit to accomplish with a gal that has never had to pose before. Also hard when it’s done in such a fashion that a gal can’t stop giggling, laughing out loud, and otherwise not being serious. And then a couple of weeks later I saw the photos… Well… I am a drastically gorgeous girl, what else can I say? Thank you, Dan and Amanda!
