One day I am walking around fine and dandy, well minus the aches and pains of old age, and the next thing I know my knee is hurting something awful. Enter Doc Hershon. I saw him at his Manhasset office which is Very busy but moves really quickly due in large part to the staff that works like a well oiled machine. Efficient AND friendly. Hands on exam. Consult. «Sounds like it might be a torn meniscus.» Straight off the bat. Xray…need MRI. K… follow-up visit. Yup… torn meniscus. Surgery(gulp!)? Some people live with a torn meniscus and no biggie… others not so much. «If it effects your quality of life…» No pushing of surgery. Just your options. 6 weeks later I’m scheduling surgery. Cut to North Shore Hospital(upcoming review), Doctor Hershon is calm, cool, collected and five minutes with him, so am I. Let’s do this. I see him right after in recovery. «Looks good» «See you in a week.» Stitches are tiny. Iced the swelling into oblivion. Six weeks physical therapy(doc’s orders). Final consult. I’m good to go! My recoup time was excellent and this was the Best«I wish I didn’t have to do this» experience ever. Doctor Hershon exudes experience. I wouldn’t go to anyone else. He ain’t the Yankee doctor for nothin’.
