My general dentist recommended I go here for an implant as he regularly does with his patients.
I was scared about a painful process. Dr. Rosenberg put me at ease and made me comfortable throughout the process.
He had me return after the crown was put on to be sure it was OK.
The staff was very helpful. He just moved to E 60^th street and the office is beautiful, making you feel comfortable.

I had my wisdom teeth removed (all four at once and they were impacted!) by Dr. Rosenberg and he could not have done a better job!!! He was great in explaining the procedure and alerting me of what to expect during the recovery process. It’s only been a week and I feel and look great (no bruises and the swelling is completely gone). He was always readily available to answer my questions and meet with me for follow up visits at my convenience. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a great oral surgeon!

DONT GO TO HIM! HE DOESNT RESPOND TO EMERGENCIES! My daughter had 4 wisdom teeth pulled on a Tuesday. She was very swollen and in pain and called the doctors office over the weekend. She called 4 times and no one called back. Her call was finally answered on Monday morning and she has to go back to the office to be checked. When the office was questioned about why they had not responded to the calls over the weekend, they had no answer and said they would get back to us. They didn’t even follow-​up for a few days. They said their answering service wasn’t working. That is not an answer. Dr. Rosenberg never even called to apologize. Why would anyone go to an oral surgeon who doesn’t respond to emergencies.

I shouldve checked these reviews first! Im not surprised by the other reviews at all now that we had such a negative experience… First I called to get an idea of how much wisdom teeth removal would cost and I was told $ 400 to $ 700 a tooth depending on how impacted they were… and that’s all that was said. I made the decision that I could barely afford it but wanted to get it done before the school year started but our family also has college tuition due now as well for my other child.
A) They charged us $ 725 a tooth (more than quoted) and a whole bunch of additional charges totaling $ 2165.00. I fault their receptionist for this since that was who I talked to. I was expecting maximum $ 1500 and we do not have insurance so we’re screwed. Don’t know how we are going to pay college tuition now. I would’ve waited a few months had the been honest and forthright about the REALTORS costs.
B) The experience was very rushed and recovery was being discarded into a far room with absolutely no one checking in on us, even though they said they would. The only attention we recieved was when someone finally walked in and was surprised we were there but she just walks away. I thought that would bring someone by but no one came by for over an hour. I had to go up to the front to find out what was up. Due to me asking the receptionist comes back and says you can go. She rattles off a bunch of stuff that I can hardly understand because she is talking so fast. Says she’s going to give us a goodie bag… some gauze, an ice pack that lasted 5 minutes, and a pamphlet… woohoo! We leave then I realize wait we didn’t get any info on pain maintainance, or antibiotics or anything so I had to call back and ask. She seemed annoyed to give me any info telling me that the pharmacy would explain the four medications to me.
The only reason I’m giving them 2 stars is the doctor was nice — ish and the office was clean.

I would not recommend this office. I was referred by my endodontist only for a cone beam scan, and in fairness, I never actually saw Dr. Rosenberg, who apparently reviewed my scan and decided that he could just refer me back to my endo for her to evaluate it.
The reception area was cramped, and the six or so chairs in the cramped reception area were insufficient for the patient waiting. The staff is of uneven caliber: the technician who assisted me was very pleasant, professional and efficient, but the reception and billing staff were a bit lacking in professionalism and efficiency.
Also, I wasn’t happy to discover that what had been quoted as the fee for my procedure (which I expected to be at least partially covered by insurance), was only the amount charged directly to me — the «balance» of their fee would then be submitted to insurance. I don’t think what I paid could actually really be considered a «co-​pay», since that is determined by the insurance provider. This struck me more like some borderline sketchy way to charge a separate fee directly to the patient to compensate for the insurance companies’ relentless depression of fee reimbursements. I understand the providers’ frustrations, but it strikes me as being akin to an underpaid worker falsifying his time sheets.
Anyway, Dr. Rosenberg himself may be a fine dentist, but since he didn’t feel it necessary to spend 30 seconds with me, I couldn’t begin to say. Not impressed with his operation, though.

Just a heads up — be ON TOP of their billing department. They initially mistakenly charged me twice in one month (two payments on $ 665). eventually I was reimbursed for the second payment. When I requested to split up my final payment into two payments of $ 330, they never called me back and charged me the full payment. Put a damper on my overall experience

I had an amazingly positive experience with Dr. Rosenberg and his staff. I cannot imagine anyone being less than thrilled with his professionalism and bedside manner. I had a molar extracted. He totally put me at ease, explained everything about the procedure in great detail, gave me options for sedation/​anesthesia and had a warm, calming disposition before, during and after the extraction. I give him and his staff my highest recommendation.

Dishonest dentist. Overcharges and also charges for things he doesn’t perform. Surrounds himself with women who are covering for his dishonesty, but taking no accountability.
There are so many honest dentists in NYC — DON’T USE THIS ONE!

Professional, cordial and caring, 5 star. Not sure about the negative comments but they are self — explanatory. His staff was courteous and answered all of my questions, as did the doctor. Definitely recommended.

I agree with some of the other reviewers here. I was satisfied with Dr. Rosenberg’s work, but the stress and time I had to take to straighten out my bills made the whole experience nightmarish. Just as others have written, the quoted price (with in-​network dental insurance) bore no relationship to what I was charged. I asked specifically for the total charges and what they told me verbally (one day before the surgery) was ¹⁄₃ of what they told me it would be. I had to pay what they said was due on the day of the surgery, doped up as I was. They repeatedly did not send the paperwork into the insurance and when they finally did, it was not accurate. After many more weeks and many phone calls, they kept on telling me that they had sent it in and that the insurance company had not paid them their portion. Many more weeks went by before the insurance company told me they had sent a check to the office to cover additional fees they made me pay. It took two more months to get reimbursed for this because although they deposited the check (which they disputed, but which the insurance company finally insisted that they had done), they credited another patient’s account for the payment. I heard two different patients in the tiny waiting room arguing about the same issues. It cannot always be just a coincidence that these endless «mistakes» always put more money in the dentist’s office and take more from you. DO NOT GO HERE.

I went to Dr Rosenberg for a consultation on removing my wisdom teeth (3 teeth.) They took an initial 360 scan, which is the practice standard for this type of operation, but then proceeded to tell me how I required a Cat-​Scan because the roots of my lower left wisdom tooth were too close to the nerve. I thought this was great because he actually cares… wrong. From past experiences and sports injuries, I know that C-​Scans are not cheap and so I requested a quote on how much it would cost. Dr. R left the room and spoke with a nurse who then came in and proceeded to try and hard sell me on this scan. She repeated 3 times «Well, this scan will cost $ 800, however, if you pay $ 400 out of pocket, insurance can cover the other $ 400.» After saying no several times, the nurse persisted on trying to have me say yes. She then gave in, looked out the door, and gave the «I tried!» gesture, because it was clear Dr. R was standing outside of the door gesturing for her to continue pushing for the C-​Scan sell. This obviously left a bitter taste in my mouth and after reluctantly playing for the initial 360 scan, I called a family friend for a second opinion. He couldn’t believe that they were considering a C-​Scan because it was clear that the tooth was fine for pulling and there wouldn’t be any complications. So after the fact, Dr Rosenberg’s office was 100% trying to scam me into paying them for something I clearly didn’t need.
Avoid, but if you have to go, bring your A game and don’t agree to anything until you have a second opinion.

Simply put… Dr. Rosenberg is the BEST! Thank you for making what I thought was going to be a horrible experience at the dentist to a VERY VERY SMOOTH AND EASY visit.
Dr. Rosenberg helped me take out my wisdom tooth that was badly chipped with a big cavity. It was catching food from anything that I put in my mouth. I was initially sedated and then next thing I could remember I was done (I think everything happened in literally 2 seconds). I think I woke up and asked Dr. Rosenberg and his nurse (at least twice) if I’m REALLY done… lol.
IFFFFF I had to do this again, no doubt… it would be with Dr. Rosenberg. Friendly guy with tip top service and little to no pain.
THANK YOUUUU! All the other dentists should also THANK YOUUUUU for changing my perspective of dentists… They are not as scary as I once thought growing up. :)

Dr. Rosenberg was very nice and made me feel at ease when he pulled one of my wisdom teeth and not to mention… I had no swelling! It was a great experience and completely painless. It was a completely different experience from a previous time I had my wisdom teeth pulled (both were badly impacted)-I got «chipmunk cheeks» and had a hard time eating.
By the 2^nd day I was already eating more solid foods and barely had to take any pain killers.
All the staff at the office were extremely helpful and they were very thorough when it came to explaining the costs and all my insurance questions. Jessica called me to inform me not to eat the night before the surgery and helped with all the paperwork. I would definitely recommend Dr. Rosenberg.

I have a similar 1 star experience to corroborate a fellow reviewer’s experience with Dr. Rosenberg. It is no consolation to me that my experience has been shared by others.
I went to Dr. Rosenberg to have my lower wisdom teeth extracted. Dr. Rosenberg himself was very friendly and competent, and did a very excellent job on the removal of my teeth. The reason for my 1 star rating was not based on his work, but how his business was run. For this extraction I diligently contacted my insurance and got a quote from his office staff that the procedure would cost less than $ 700, and that no xrays would need to be taken.
Upon my arrival for the surgery, I was promptly brought in for the xrays, all the while asking about insurance and billing issues that were not addressed at the front desk. I was hurried through the preparation, and told that all billing issues were fine and would be handled after the surgery. After waking up and preparing to leave, I was presented a bill of over $ 2700 (that’s 4 times the original price for those keep score at home), while I was dizzy from anaesthesia and drooling blood. I refused to put the payment on my credit card and was treated very scornfully for someone who just underwent surgery, and my only explanation for the increased bill was that all this was necessary and the waiver I signed gave him permission to perform any additional surgery that was deemed necessary. Apparently, $ 2000 worth. My wounds healed fine and I have no problem with my teeth, but the way I was rushed through the procedure and my questions hushed, then finally hit with an unexpected bill made my experience miserable.
The surgery was fine, but I cannot trust someone who would run their business this way to have the patient’s interest as his top priority. I recommend finding another surgeon if available.

April 25, 2010, and empty socket (ex-​tooth) #18 still hurts right down the middle every day. It’s a persistent, gnawing type of pain that comes on regularly, like it runs on its own schedule. It is the identical pain caused when Dr. Fidel, an outside dentist I hired to place a crown on his implant, twisted a miniature garden hoe-​like instrument that had two moving plates, into the socket drilled by Rosenberg, just before the final stage in her placing a crown on his implant, causing intense pain. That is the same pain I would later experience — when Rosenberg pressed a chrome instrument, that came to a point at the end of a half-​circle, directly down onto the center of the flesh he had «regenerated» on the surface of the now-​empty socket #18. He made me jump with pain three or four times in quick succession as his female personal assistant looked on intently — grinning. She is the same assistant that wiped feces on the sleeve of my (washable, luckily) jacket. And it was the secondary assistant, a white female, that had stuffed the filthy, blood-​soaked gauze (someone else’s) in my mouth, stealthily, from behind. But how does one prove such things? It’s impossible, like the fact that he (Rosenberg) had left the operating room for ten minutes after shooting me with novacaine. I had almost gotten up to look for him, but decided to relax instead, floating in space, enjoying the moment. In comes the blue-​green-​clad little-​old-​lady assistant from the recovery room who pushes a drill into my mouth, then down into the jaw. It hurt like a freshly broken tooth hurts. Somehow it was the right spot, however, as if she’d been schooled. His personal assistant then came in and grinned that grin as she scraped the surface of all my teeth with the tip of the brushed aluminum suction device, pushing that tip purposefully down hard against that same surface of, yes, that same, silly, object of everyone’s attention: SOCKET #18!!! Then, while his main personal assistant sat there and wiped her mouth with her surgical mask, in prances Rosenberg himself. He stares into my open mouth with shock and awe, his wide-​eyed countenance nevertheless revealing a post-​ecstatic look of fulfillment, and proceeds to push a screw into the hole that was once the forlorn (and, unfortunately, not forgotten) tooth #18. The screw pops out three or four times, then he gets out his special screwdriver, twisting and twisting to no effect. Finally, the screw grabs and Herr Rosennberg shouts, as he’s running away, «It should stay tight two weeks.»
The screw popped out before I got to the elevator.
I feared calling for five days. If I told him what the ratty females did, he would always respond, «I’m sorry you feel that way, Andy.»
He would later deny he had that look on his face.
An inexplicable charge for $ 450 mysteriously appeared on my credit card later on, to go along with his unprovable assaults and telltale taunts.
When I’d first visited his office, he wouldn’t tell me that 2 tooth roots were cracked, as came out by him — as a taunt, in the subsequent small claims suit that I lost along with my $ 5000 for installation and removal of his implant. An «implant» is merely a screw pushed deeply into the jaw — and I, unfortunately, had signed a legal liability-​release at the same time I was trying to get him to remove that painful screw from my lower jaw, which had become completely infected. But, previously, Rosennberg had sent me to Dr. Zicarelli of NYC Endodontists, who relieved me of $ 1000 in three visits. And Dr. Fidel of Greenpoint, also his associate, wouldn’t return my $ 1700 after she removed her loose crown that had worsened the infection she’d caused when installing it. Her office is in her home. Dr. Clifford Salm, who was the initial person I saw with my 2 broken roots in Rosenberg’s office, charged me $ 360 for x-​rays, refusing to say if they were broken; instead, scraping along the outline of my gums, making them bleed. Then, he grinned.

I don’t write many 5 star reviews unless I feel strongly about them. Same with 1 star. Places earning either extreme must tap into an emotion.
1 star and 5 star reviews should make the reader seem skeptical. 5 means best of the best while 1 means means the absolute worst. All being said– they do occur, but must be taken in context.
Reviewers with 1 review should also raise a red flag– these reviews are usually written under the influence of strong emotion– and while they may be informative– a well-​versed Unilocalers opine should be valued higher as they can better scope the situation in terms of ranking.
OK, enough explanations– Basically I had a great experience with Dr. Rosenberg. I have been to many many dentists (lack of enamel passed down paternally leads to cavities, root canals and utter unrest) and can say that Dr. Steve was one of the best.
I understand billing can be confusing with any doctors and itemization can seem like its a infinite nickel and dime process but– that’s the way doctors work. Some people are always going to accuse doctors of malpractice, maladvice and lack of sensitivity because– but this is not due to their supposed sophistry– more to the lack of perceived value… this is all in my opinion and Dr. Rosenberg’s office is more than fair and will take time to explain if you have the patience to listen.
Anyway I think this place was great, especially for a Manhattan operation where everyone seems to slip into the cavities of doctors offices up and downtown. I walked in with pain, lots of pain and walked out with– less pain, a smile for the first time in a few days, and with a pleasantly expedited appointment later– a prescription that will yield a painless weekend and a prognosis negative for my Tooth Root.

Going to Steven N. Rosenberg, D.D.S., P.C. was one of the low points in my life, so far.
I had two loose molars, and my dentist told me to get them removed as soon as possible. Traumatizing enough. She referred me to Rosenberg, whose office I called, somewhat shellshocked, right after leaving the dentist.
I asked the receptionist how much I had to pay for this operation, and she told me in her warm, sing-​songy voice that each extraction would cost $ 400 each. I would have to pay $ 400 upfront, and then could pay the other $ 400 on a plan. Well, that certainly was hideous — but it was doable.
Life was looking grim. I went in, and within half an hour, the doctor had drugged me, drilled the teeth out with pyrotechnic bits of enamel flying everywhere, and I was shuttered off into a side room with a cold compress to hold around my bulging cheek. In and out in less than ten minutes. Figuring I could suffer alone at home, I went out to the same receptionist who talked to me on the phone, to sign the paperwork and get out of Kafkaland. Or not.
The bill came to $ 2165.00.
I went ballistic, drugged up, and feeling that sense of vulnerability that comes with a stranger in surgical gloves rummaging through your mouth. I felt totally taken advantage of, and said there must be some mistake. In the same robotic, sing-​songy voice, she said there was no mistake: Yes, the extractions were $ 400 each, but there was also a limited oral evaluation ($ 35), 2 «guided tissue regenerations» (huh?) ($ 350 a piece), two bone replacement grafts ($ 450 a piece) and my requested nitrous oxide ($ 100). Perhaps I am being paranoid… but isn’t this basically a classic bait and switch?
I stormed out of the office and said I wouldn’t pay any of it ($ 800 had seemed reasonable for an out-​of-​network oral surgeon, but not this). They soon sicced their personal collection agent on me… a woman who sounds, judging by her voice on the telephone, like she has been around since the advent of fire and is none the kinder for it.
Deliberately throwing her voice to an irritating frequency that sounds as though a can of cat food is being opened across the telephone wires, she threatens, nags, pleads, and does pretty much anything she can to get you to send the money, including threatening lawsuits, calling you abusive (which I was, I admit), hanging up on you only to call back, sounding hurt, and just making an overall nuisance of herself. She’s either 12 or 112, I can’t tell.
But she was also persuasive. I finally felt bad and agreed to pay $ 50 every two weeks, provided they took the money out on the day I got paid. Even this hasn’t worked out. The receptionist would forget for two weeks and then withdraw $ 100, and once they «accidentally» withdrew $ 150 (finally putting $ 100 of it back a week later after I screamed at them). Now, I just don’t know what to do. I still owe them over $ 600 but I’m just so tired of these people and so broke that it pains me to part with more cash. This is my idea of hell.
It’s my fault, and it was my own naïveté. But, of course, the receptionist knew to undersell in order to get me in there, and not show me the fine print until after I’d gotten my teeth yanked out. Is that even up for debate? But I imagine this is what happens in dental offices everyday, so there’s nothing special about Dr. Rosenberg’s office or the minions who work there. The humanistic element is gone.
In order to avoid this happening to you, ask questions before undergoing surgery like this, ask what you are going to be charged, and don’t let them take you by surprise. Nervous, scared, and creeped-​out in the face of extractions, you make yourself vulnerable to thieves. And these fools will gladly make you suffer.
