Had a haircut for the very first time this week. I had been recommended by two people who both have amazing hair, including their kids!
Service via phone was awesome! They have amazing hours and were very accommodating.
Service upon entrance was great. I was taken in immediately and was seen and cut by Ramona. She was lovely, sweet, honest, attentive and gave me a lot of advice.
I am confident that my hair will start to look much better with continued visits to Ramona.
My ONLY negative comment is that the salon DOES NOT accept AMEX nor are you able to add tip to the credit card. For a business that charges about 165 $ for a trim, they should TOTALLY accept AMEX! AND allow tips on credit because who carries enough cash to tip the stylist and the stylists assistance?
Again, had a great experience. Would totally love to get color there but am scared of the prices (). I may try color sometime in the future but for now I will only stick to cuting and styling by Ramona. Definitely a must try!!!

I like the staff here except for the front desk-​every time I call, which is a number of years now, they ask for what type of hair coloring I am receiving and what is my telephone number. This last time the staff member became rude when I complained they do not have a record of my treatment. I asked why they don’t have computerized records.
Found out they are not computerized! How can a supposedly top salon operate today without computers! How old-​fashioned can you be?

While I haven’t been here in a while due to moving out if state… I used to come here about 3 times a year for years to get my hair highlighted and cut. I highly recommend Anthony for color he is excellent and for a cut I would recommend Michael I always left happy with my look!
They are expensive but you get what you pay for!

This is a combined review of this salon. My color was done by Nicolay. I asked
him not to make my single process any darker then my hair was at the time
I saw him. It turns out that he made it 2 shades darker and I was horrified.
I was also scheduled to have highlights with him. I decided to go ahead and
have them done because as the hair was sooo dark the highligts would
probably lighten it up. I asked him not to give me pin stripe highlights. I wanted
the highlights to be slightly chunky. Well he ignored me and gave me
even pin striped highlights — I look like a flag. He told me he would give me
the brow formula so that I could do it at home. Bottom line — when I went
to the cashier she handed me a bottle of color for the brows and wanted me
to actually pay for it. I told her to keep it. I would never recommend this
colorist.
On the otherhand I had my haircut by Kenneth T. I showed him a photo of
the cut and he turned out the most fantastic haircut which made my day.
So the stars are only two because I would have given the colorist a 0
if I could and Kenneth a 5+ I intend to return to this salon for haircuts,
but am searchng for a competent colorist.
The salon is not upgraded — it looks like 1960’s. Most of the staff
is older.

I was greeted at the reception area with all smiles, then to the coat check more smiles, then went to the shampoo /​conditioning room where I was greeted by Ramona Azcona’s assistance which was an absolute doll. Ramona was very sweet, kind, loving, and was right on point with my hair. She knew what I wanted before I even expressed it. I had a trim & blow dry in soft curls. I had an amazing experience, and will be back very soon!
I recommend this salon hands down, anytime! You’ll love it, I loved it, it’s a cool place!

I went here for the first time today. What great service, friendly staff and an all-​around great experience. Sandra was amazing. She listened to my questions and answered them professionally and with the utmost respect!

I have been getting my hair cut by Ramona for a few years now and I couldn’t be happier. I can honestly say that my hair never looked so good. I am a low maintenance kind of girl so I need a cut that can make me look good even if I don’t blow it out every day. I can’t believe how good my hair looks without having to do anything. She has a way of layering my long hair so that it looks styled no matter what I do to it. I’m impressed. And Ramona’s personality is straightforward and real so she’s a pleasure to talk to and deal with. She is the best!

I visited Stephen Knoll salon on a Gilt City certificate and was sooooo pleased and impressed with the service I received. I know some places can be a little snotty to coupon/​voucher customers but this was not the case here. The front desk staff was warm and welcoming; I arrived right on time and was offered a beverage and then seen immediately by Gina who did an amazing brow-​shaping while engaging me in gracious and intelligent chit-​chat — I was then seen briskly, but not brusquely, over to Ken and Kay who were so funny and delightful and engaging that I didn’t even realize until they were done what a really splendid job they did shampooing and transforming my frizzy awful hair into silky, shiny, bouncy, cascading locks. On my way out, the front desk staff showered me with compliments on my «new look» while filling up a shopping bag with complementary full-​size hair potions (which wasn’t even listed on my certificate as part of the package!). I also really liked that there was no pressure on me at any time to add services to my visit, or to consider coming back for further expensive treatments.

I come to NYC every month from CA, and for the last 18 months, have found this salon to be the refuge from bad hair! Liliana in particular, is wonderful, listens, and produces perfect blowouts every time.
The salon runs on time, there is NO attitude, it is clean and polished, and you as a client are treated as the only one in the salon. No pressure at all for other services as I only have my hair colored and cut in LA. Service is excellent. I am very particular, so I have no idea what the negative reviews are about. I have observed others there; we are one happy clientele.

I go here for my hair cuts, specifically to see Ramona. Ramona is amazing and always makes me look absolutely fabulous! I can’t say much about the other stylists as she is the only one I’ve used.
I’ve never felt rushed, I’ve never noticed people running around like chickens with their heads cut off, and I’ve always had excellent service from everyone on staff.
I definitely recommend this place, but most-​specifically, I definitely recommend Ramona!

I tried this salon for the first time to get my hair straightened using a Brazilian technique. The staff was cordial but the place itself just seemed rather impersonal, too big, with an assembly line of people doing a specialized task. I’ve outgrown my phase of wanting to straighten the hell out of my wavy hair, but I desperately wanted to rock pin-​straight hair then. At best, the straightening procedure got the frizz out, but for that much money, I expected a lot more.
Also, after straightening my hair, the stylist tried to convince me that I needed a cut. Maybe I did, but that type of overselling seems cheap to me.
