I met with Andrew, and he was extremely helpful. Not only did he give me a fair market price, he was so pleasant. I would recommend Stack’s to anyone seeking positive and honest appraisal. When I plan to sell my collection, Stack’s will be the place I go to.

I recently sold a PCGS graded coin to Stack’s Rare Coins and was paid out promptly, and everything was just as I expected it to be. The Sales Manager I was in communication with was both professional and fair. Do some research on your own of course, but I would definitely recommend this store.

I have lived on 57th St for over a decade and decided to sell some US and UK gold coins(after googling to see if they were rarities; they were not). On the same day I went to Heritage Auctions on Park and 57th and also tried Stacks on W 57th. When I went to Heritage, the man was friendly and gave me an offer. He mentioned that Heritage was one of the biggest wholesalers of my type of coins. I then went to Stacks. The man there looked at my coins and then asked«are you a collector?». I responded«no». He then gave me an offer that was over $ 1000BELOW what Heritage had just offered me. I was appalled that he was trying to rip me off. Moral of the story, don’t sell anything to Stacks unless you shop around first!!! I think Heritage is a good bet(and I don’t work there), as they are not slimy diamond district types but whatever you do, don’t rely on getting a fair deal from Stacks unless you shop around first

Unlike the first couple reviews I do not have an interest in the business. Stacks has exorbitantly wide bid-ask spreads. Much better execution elsewhere if you want to sell coins and buy them. Not willing to work with you either.

This place is ok to stroll through for those in numismatics, but its more of an auction house. I wish they had more items displayed. This review is only pertinent for those looking to make a visit, not the business itself.

Unlike the first reviewer above I’m not affiliated or friendly with Stack’s. Therefore, my reviewis an honest assessment, not fake pandering designed to promote the business. I’m sure there are a handful of businesses that try to manipulate Unilocal as Scott A. tried to above, but I’m about to put the kabosh on that nonsense. Unilocal is a forum that must remain an honest, customer-only means of evaluating businesses. I brought a family heirloom coin to Stacks with the idea that i’d offer it for sale to them if they offered me a desirable price. The man took my coin to a back room, confirmed that it’s pure gold, and offered me the gold-value price only. No further discussion or bargaining. While I realize that business is business and Stack’s is there to make a profit, this was a sleazy offer. was my coin super-rare or uncirculated? No it was not. Did it have value exceeding the gold-only value? Most certainly. I did not expect to walk out with«stacks» of cash. But I did expect them to live up to their well-established longevity and status. I was disappointed; my one star is an offering of humble pie to a small pool of Unilocalers in need of a little balance here.

Since 1935, Stack’s has held first position in the American numismatic auction scene in terms of longevity, number of sales conducted, lots sold and great rarities handled. Stack’s offers unparalleled expertise and service in the areas of United States coins, world and ancient coins, tokens, medals and paper money. As this fourth generation family owned business continues its legacy into the new millennium, we look forward to working with you in building a superb quality collection or in showcasing your collection in one of our world class auctions. Recently Stack’s has joined forces with another well established Auction/Coin company, American Numismatic Rarities, adding to it even more highly educated and noteworthy numismatists, particularly Q. David Bowers. I have dealt with this firm on a number of ocassions with no problems encountered. The nice thing is that they even have a store front in Manhatten. Stop in if you are in the neighborhood. Better yet, stop by their website for a more comfortable look.
