Spicy Alley

Lunch is better with good company like today with a fellow Unilocaler Cynthia D. We popped our cherries at Spicy Alley which Unilocal states that it opened 7 weeks ago. The hostess sat us at a table meant to sit 4 people… hey at least my bag can sit on its own chair then on my lap lol Of course, I am always the one that orders a little few mins after we sat down with checking into Unilocal and Swarm yo.
From the lunch menu, I ordered L3 Phở Vietnamese Beef Noodle Soup (today is a bit chilly for my liking so I need something to warm my body up) and Cynthia ordered L7 Chef’s Mapo Tofu w. Chili Minced Pork. Wow pretty cheap on the sauce for my Phở because I had to asked for seconds. The broth tasted like a bowl of hot water and the sliced fatty beef were pretty a bit bland. Too much cilantro… I have to fish them out of my bowl! Was I full not really… because I usually drink the broth along with slurping up the vermicelli noodles. I have to come back and try something else to give a better rating.
Right now it sits with me at 3.5!

I had the Chili Pepper Spicy Steak and was very happy with it. Good lunch with some work friends. Nice and friendly staff at the restaurant. Worth a try. Enjoy.

Stopped by here for a late lunch. We ordered Spring Rolls and the Phở Vietnamese Beef Noodle Soup to go. The Phở came dissembled with the noodles/​beef/​herbs in a large cup and the broth and garnishes packaged separately as well. Everything was hot and fresh. The dipping sauce for the spring rolls was delicious. I even added some into my phở. Affordable and good food!

I dropped in over lunchtime – I’m not a big eater as big lunches put me to sleep. I decided to give their Spicy & Tangy Beef a try – looked great on their Instagram feed.
To put it simply – I’ve never had anything live this, excellent dish. Think thick-​cut beef jerky, well smoked and infused with Szechuan spices, at a zesty but tolerable level.
Will definitely be back for more! Staff are very friendly and responsive.

This was by far the worst Chinese food I have ever tasted. I ordered MaPo Tofu, it was loaded with salt to the point where you couldn’t even taste the actual tofu or rice. I also found a small sediment in it which almost broke my tooth. The worst experience ever. They were nice enough to give a full refund but never again will I go back there.
