Great service. Great food. For a first time eater of this cuisine, the items were described throughly so I coul understand. I would recommend this place to others and will return.

I absolutely love this spot! This place is always packed with people. If you have a big party, you’d definitely have to wait a while on the side with these comfy chairs. Like all Thai places, the inside is dark, loud, and candle lit. They have two floors and one bad thing is that if you’re sitting upstairs you have to go all the way downstairs to the basement to use the bathroom(they provide you with loud music while you do your business). It’s a really noisy place so it might not be the spot you would want to go if you’re catching up with a bunch of friends.

All thr Spice chains never fail on food and fast service(AFTER your order is placed). This is actually the first location of theirs I’ve ever been to and it was good being back. A quick Saturday Thai Lunch was in order with a friend from out of town. We were seated promptly. Dont know if I noticed the delay with pur waitress coming to collect out drinks and food orders because I was famished or she genuinely took her time getting to us; perhaps a bit of both. Also a pet peeve of mine is when a party gets service when they came in AFTER we did. Could be my racism radar on high alert for silliness like that or I just require prober host etiquette when dining at a restaurant establishments! She came directly to us right after and once order was entered the food came rather quicky and was delicious. This gets four stars instead of 5 just because of the delay(it was not crowded at all) and lack of apology from the waitress.

The only reason I keep coming back is for the food. Not anymore. First, my friend and I were there at 5:25(they reopen at 5:30 for dinner). They didn’t actually open the doors until 5:40, ten minutes late, but whatever. We were seated, ordered our two entrees(which came out really fast). My hot sweet basil sautée with added chicken was really good, except for the face that it was missing the red peppers which has never happened before. They seem to have really downsized the portions also, as my friends shrimp pad Thai was smaller than normal and my plate also. After we finished our meal(and we’re still drinking our wine) someone(not our waitress) came and slapped a bill on our table. Who said we were done? We were both pretty dumbfounded, and told them we wanted more wine and I also ordered a meal to go. I don’t think they should be rushing anyone out of the restaurant. Doesn’t feel welcoming. Won’t be coming back to this location any longer.

Overall the food was good and the staff was decent. For the appetizer, we got spring rolls and pot stickers. The spring rolls didn’t have any taste but the pot stickers were very good. For an entrée I got the Volcanic chicken. It’s a half of chicken with 3 flavor spices and stir fry vegetables. I also added brown rice to it. Very satisfying and delicious . There were two things I didn’t like about here,(1) The seating. The seating downstairs is very tight and you’re seated very close to the party next to you on your left and right. Lack of privacy to have your conversations and to eat your food.(2) The Lighting. Very Dark. Could barley see the menu, had to use the light off my phone.

I’m surprised they’re still open. Food isn’t really authentic and service is mediocre at best. We made a reservation well in advance and they still decided to seat us right next to the kitchen even though I made a special request over the phone. I will never come here again

A friend of mine suggested this Thai restaurant for lunch. We came in a group of 3 people and this place was already busy! We were seated immediately upstairs and ordered our drinks. We tried their thai tea which I thought was a perfect balance of tea and sweetness. Oh and for lunch time, for every entrée you order, it comes with a complimentary appetizer! For entrees, we ordered three different entrees/appetizer: lemongrass chicken/spicy seafood soup: I thought the entrée dish was decent, chicken a little too cooked/dried for me. However, I did enjoyed the seafood soup! It’s spicy and sweet at the same time. pork chop/dumplings: Did not tried the pork but the dumplings are pretty good forgot the name but it’s a mixture of seafood and rice together/salad: love this entrée! wish i ordered this instead! Overall, the price and portion of the food is reasonable and decent. Friendly and quick service. I recommend here if you’re nearby the area and don’t want to spend too much on lunch. I can’t wait to come back here for dinner on my next visit to NYC :)

I came here with a large group and it was very easy to book through open table. There’s downstairs seating and upstairs seating. I’m not sure if it’s a lounge upstairs or more seating however. We went for dinner and it was dark in the restaurant. I personally hate that because then I can’t see the menu nor can I see what I’m eating. The flavor was almost authentic while the menu was kinda Americanized? I would give the food a low B. Service was pretty bad. Typical curt style you get as some Asian establishments. I had no idea who my server was exactly because so many people came over to the table and no when I would ask for something from one person, someone else would come. But I don’t really care about that. As long as the food comes and everything is done, then thats good. I’m not a stickler for over the top, amazing service because I know working in that industry is shitty so I don’t need someone to kiss my butt. However, just a hint of friendliness can go a long way. I don’t think I’ll come back here because I’m very particular with Thai food for some reason and if the taste doesn’t hit it for me, then I don’t go back.

I am typical outerborough chick who rarely comes to the city unless its job related or to hang out. So when my cousin wanted to meet and have Thai food. I was down to go. We found the restaurant right away. Its about a half a block from the movie theaters. We were tolded that it was going to be a 15 minutes wait. We waited by a super small section with red chairs that were actually rocking chairs. When we were seated, i felt like a saudine. I was so close to the people next to us that I could hear their conversations. The waitress took forever to come and place our order. I got the Pattaya noodle(a vegan meal) it was really good and my cousin got the shrimp pad thai. She said that her meal was really good. I cant review their drinks because all I drank was water with no ice. Tips 1. They charge an automatic 18% gratitude. No bueno 2. The bathroom is right next to the kitchen and Its’ not the cleanest bathroom. 3. The location is super close to the movies theaters and union square park. 4. They have 4 options of entrees for vegans.

This is a medium ok place. Full disclosure I do like the upper east side location of Spice and an upper west side location however this one is missing something. 1. My vegan duck basil was just a little too salty. Still delicious but super salty. 2. The service was a teeny bit grumpy. Our server only came up to us three times. After placing our order we had empty cocktails for 10 minutes before being asked if we wanted another. After our second drink was served she dropped the check without saying a word to us again. 3. Food runner was also a little grumpy and exasperated that we weren’t sure what he was calling out. 4. The happy hour at the bar is pretty phenomenal. If I come back to this location I would definitely sit at the bar for the awesome deals!

Got the grilled aged pork chop with the spring rolls… wow. Fat chop with the best savory sauce. Spring rolls were crunchy and the sauce to came with was even better. Def ordering from here again

— overall rating: 3.5 — recommend: coconut sticky rice(I could probably just make a meal of this alone), chrysanthemum tea — sizable portions — chicken pad thai is flavorful, not too oily(an issue I’ve had with other pad thais) but too sweet, nothing a few lime wedges couldn’t fix — pineapple fried rice(w/shrimp) was good(not great) but came with a generous number of shrimp — modern décor — seated immediately — disclaimer: delivery takes at least an hour

Came here after a movie and although I love spice itself I was not impressed with this location. My boyfriend and I ordered to go and the man taking our order was very short and I sensed attitude. The place wasn’t busy so I wasn’t understanding the vibe I was getting. I got the black noodles with broccoli and although that’s what I asked for at other locations it comes with mixed Chinese and American broccoli. This one was mainly Chinese broccoli. The dish main was broccoli and I do like it but it can sometimes be bitter, I was searching for my noodles. I have found each spice I have been to has been slightly different. That’s fine but if it’s a chain it should be somewhat consistent.

Came on Christmas Eve, easily got a reservation for two at around 6:30pm. The service is super fast, pretty extensive menu. With Thai food you run the risk of falling into a carb black hole, but if you order the lemongrass chicken you’ll get a huge portion of grilled chicken lightly sauced with grilled carrots and bokchoy(sp?). This was really good, definitely enough for two meals, flavorful, and not greasy etc which is what you usually get with Thai food. The drunk man noodles were very good(not a huuuuge portion) and you can definitely taste the garlic. Two entrees, with tip, each paid about $ 15.

I am giving Spice two stars because I previously(5 months ago) had a good dining experience here. Today’s greatest hits: 1. One waitress for 9 tables. 2. There is ZERO wind blockage against the 40 degree wind. 3. Several tables who ordered 15 minutes after our party already have their food. 4. The waitress has no concern about the customer’s experience and seems to care only about turning tables(goes faster if you bring out the food in less than 40 minutes).

We walked in and it was a bit crowded so I placed my name on the list. The wait time was 30 minutes and they were good about honoring that time. I was seated upstairs in between two people. The seats are a bit close and you can hear your neighbors discuss a variety of topics clearly. I am a big fan of Thai food so this location is just another great place to enjoy good food. Reading the menu is a bit of a challenge. The place is dark! If they were channeling romance they forgot you need to order to set the mood. I ordered my food and the appetizer came out before the entrée. The wings had a tamarind sauce on it that was kind of overpowering IMO. It tastes good but they applied way too much of it. *Paused and sipped my water several times.* Then my entrée came out… my eyes looked down at those noodles in disgust. Looked strange to me… my brain was saying maybe I should’ve stuck to my usual at any Thai restaurant. Thai fried rice! You can’t go wrong. But I looked at my Unilocal page and decided to try something new. I prayed over my food and then took a bite. To my amazement it tasted absolutely wonderful. My mouth watered for more. The squid had a rubbery but chewy taste to it. Hard to explain but it was good! I enjoyed my meal throughly. And the green and red peppers added a different taste to my palate as I chewed the squid, shrimp and chicken slowly. They have my vote. The restrooms are unisex and they weren’t as clean as I’d like, but there wasn’t tissue on the floor. I went to there smaller location about 9 years ago and I have no clue what I ate; but I won’t ever forget this location. Good music and a good looking crowd. FYI: it’s a great location to eat after watching a movie at Union Square just a block away! There’s NO parking in front of this place. Read the signs carefully. You will be angry if you park there.

I’m a sucker for Thai food and usually order the same appetizers and entrée such as curry puff and chicken with basil/white rice. In my college days, I would visit Spice in Union Square for a lovely lunch. I’ve aways appreciated the quality of the food and services. They have two floors as well as a nice bar. The wait for dinner can varies from 15 to 30 minutes. I usually prefer sitting on the second floor. We also tried their mango and lychee martini’s. Delicious and stiff! They are quite affordable for the location and walking distance from the R/L/4/5/6 trains. I’d recommend this as a date spot. Very cute as well as a good amount of activities to take advantage of in the area.

My sister and I ate here for an early dinner last night. Food was good, which is why I’m giving it 3 stars — we had spring rolls, and fried rice with tofu, both really tasty, no complaints. But the service and atmosphere were awful. We arrived at the restaurant around ten to seven, to a hostess who was snippy and a little rude. We were seated, rushed through ordering, and pushed out the door by 7:15. I have never had a faster dining experience in a restaurant — the second we ordered the appetizer it was on the table, we didn’t even have drinks yet, and the main course arrive before we had even finished the last bite of appetizer. Also, it was way loud in the restaurant, they were blaring music to the point you could barely talk. Even though the food was pretty good, I probably wouldn’t go back here. Maybe for takeout?

A seat for 2 on a Thursday night at 7:15pm took less than a minute from the moment we walked in. We were directed upstairs and were greeted by friendly waiters. We ordered quickly bc I almost died from hunger, and our Thai ice teas came about 5 minutes after ordering. Our appetizer soon came in quickly, and when we were half way done with our calamari, the entrees came! Quick and swift! My friends pork belly was a bit on the salty side. My beef red curry was good… I was told spicyness would be 3 out of 5 and they were right on target because I can only handle a 2. The beef was a little chewy. There was a lot of bamboo. We both took our entrees to go so we can fix it up the way we like to at home… I’d make mine a little less spicy and my friend will make hers a little less salty! Overall I’d def come back and try their lunch menu.

Quick and delicious! I had a small window for lunch and Spice worked with my schedule. I sat at the bar and was quickly given a glass of water. Within a few minutes my order was taken — I ordered crispy spring rolls for appetizer and chicken Pad Thai as my main dish. The food came within minutes and it only cost me $ 9.25!!! I couldn’t believe my eyes. The portions were just right and its probably the best Thai I’ve had in a while. I hope the other locations are just as good. As for as the décor, it was modern and clean. The music was at a medium volume considering it was lunch-time. I will definitely return.
