It’s a beautiful park, with a great view of the city. It’s good to see how they kept some of the original old buildings still around. The smallpox hospital is a nice little reminder of how things were. The prices for certain things are silly, I say this as an island resident, but if you want to see a great park with beautiful green trees and the city, this is good for you.

I had no idea this was here. If you have a few hours free and want to venture off Manhattan, take the cable tram from 59th and 2nd Ave to Roosevelt island. Although most of it is residential, if you walk south past all the construction, you will end up at the beautiful South Point Park containing an FDR memorial. It’s a serene elevated park with granite, a grassy area with rows of trees, and steps at the very tip offering great skyline views of New York. Right in front of you you will will see two small rocky islands. Love these. If you want to take the F train, you can also get here that way.

Lovely park located on the Southern tip of Roosevelt Island right before the FDR Four Freedoms Park. The views of the Manhattan are great. Their are two historic landmarks located in this park The Small Hospital/Renwick Ruins and the laboratory building. The green spaces through the park are nice. They have plenty of bathrooms and water fountains through where is a plus.

Breathtaking views! I found it to be a wonderful park. It has fun landmarks along the way and bundles of history packed into it. I think it’s great to take someone who has never been to the city. I thought it was great to walk here in the sunlight as the sun was setting. Just gorgeous.

Southpoint Park is a beautiful park located in the Southern tip of Roosevelt Island. There are plenty of flora and green spaces at this park as well as two historic landmark buildings: Small Pox Hospital(a.k.a Renwick Ruins which will soon open to public) and the Strecker Memorial Laboratory that was built as the nation’s first center for study of pathology. Today, the laboratory houses electric converters for the subways of New York City Transit. The thing I like about this park is that it’s not too crowded and very peaceful. If you want to go for a walk, run, or spend some quiet time reading a book or take in some sun while looking at the Grandiose Manhattan Skyline, I suggest you come here. I love the fact that they have a public restroom faciltiy at the entrance with many toilets(??) available as well as Water fountains throughout the park to keep you hydrated. But the most charming part of the park is that it’s not SUPER polished like the Highline or Central Park. Seriously, I love how this park is not that crowded that today I even went tanning here for the first time and it was so empty and it was so peaceful!
