YUMYUMYUM! I lived in AZ for 4 years(and traveled to NM regularly) and was spoiled with some of the best stateside, vegetarian friendly Mexican food. Snack Dragon is as good as AZ’s finest, IMO.

Snack Dragon has save my life many a night with amazing food. Help save this NYC staple from corporate landlord greed and keep it feeding the truly hungry with it’s fantastic tacos and treats!

You know, they were just okay. And that’s okay. It’s okay to be okay. Except they ran out of raspberry limeade, which is not okay. But that’s not their problem, you can’t judge then because of it. My friend made me clarify with that. But still. Also, kinda pricey.

I love Snack Dragon. Giving them five stars for sentimental reasons. Sadly they’ll be shuttering this location at the end of this month, so go there ASAP to get your taco fix. If you’re reading this after July 31st, just hit up their other delicious locations.

Did not realize how much I loved this place until I stumbled by with a friend one night and found them closed. We were forced to go to the spot around the corner with the unnecessarily wordy menu. My taco crazed boyfriend and I LOVE this place. The price($ 5 per) speaks for the quality, originality, authentic-ness, and taste. Major props to the extra sprinklings of beans and cheese and salsa that do not distract from the meat nor attract a label of cali or tex.

The first time I came here was on a drunken weekend after a night out in the LES. I just remember buying some sort of taco and standing outside and gobbling it down. Therefore I did not write a Unilocal review because I don’t remember much about how my taco tasted. I returned again, this time, sober, so I could actually enjoy my food. There is limited seating inside, and there is also a bathroom(yay!) This place was run by one guy that night, whose name was Miles, and Miles was pretty awesome. Not only does he act as the cashier, he is also the cook, the waiter, the cleaner… everything. One man show. I tried the dragon taco, as well as the quack-n-cheese. The dragon taco came on a blue tortilla and it was delicious. I wish there was more filing in it though. The quack-n-cheese was basically mac-n-cheese but instead of macaroni, it is made of quinoa. I did not really like it because I think quinoa is just a weird weird grain, and making it into mac n cheese was… more strange. Anyways, I would love to try more of the tacos, although i think $ 4-$ 5 is slightly pricey since the tacos are small. Knowing how hard Miles had to work to run this place himself, we tipped him generously and made his day.

This is definitely a hole in the wall place that is not for everyone. It’s so tough to find a quick bite that is reasonably priced in this neighborhood. Their happy hour deal from 4−7pm alone has me sold — free beer with purchase if two tacos! They don’t seem to advertise it though, so you need to know to ask about it. Definitely isn’t the kind of place you don’t really hang out at for a long time. But it’s the perfect spot to grab some quick food and drinks before a show. I give Snack Dragon four stars because they are great tacos for a good price. They use corn tortillas and double up on them because we all know they break easily. They have a pretty basic selection of tacos — chicken, pork, fish, veggie, etc. but they add some good toppings on each which give it a good flavor. I’m definitely a fan.

Stumbled across this place after the Pride Parade, and I was STARVING. The cheap tacos and outdoor(stools facing in at a counter) cout my eye. My roommate and I ordered the fish tacos, the quinoa taco, the quake and cheese and the pizza nacho(without meat) to share — it was the perfect ammoutn and perfectly satisfying. Although not traditional Mexican style tacos(disclaimer: i am from AZ and KNOW my tacos) they were really good! The meat ones looked interesting and good, but I am not a fan of meat. The girl working there was SUPER sweet, made recommendations and was overall just very friendly and pleasant. Inside was a little dark and stuffy looking but outside was perfect for a nice afternoon. Prices were totally reasonable and fair — around $¾ dishes a plate, I believe. And they had beer and wine. Overall, a great experience and I would go back if i was craving a yummy snack!

I went to the Alpha City location a long time ago and remember it being a tasty fulfilling late night snack. Maybe the late night factor was the difference, because we tried out the LES post of this pre night out recently and it was awful. location was dirty. counter seats were uncomfortable. service was attentive. but food was subpar. my friend didnt enjoy either of her tacos. and the white sangria was horrible(and served in tiny plastic cups).

I loved this place. We came across this place because we were looking for a a bite to eat before we went to that overpriced PKNY. We wanted something that was filling but not to heavy and this place definitely did it for us. I loved the carne asada tacos and my boyfriend had the pollo verde tacos. The deal was that if you bought two tacos you got a free beer. Free is definitely for me. The Tecate beer was definitely a treat on a warm spring day. I am so glad that I came across this place. I know that there are two other locations but I definitely want to go to Brooklyn to try the original. The place was divey yet welcoming and that was all I needed to get hooked. I will definitely be going back, I can’t wait to go exploring in the area again to see what else I can come across.

After leaving Top Hops just down the street, beers in hand(well, in a bag), my friend and I were looking for a place where we could drink said beers. It being midnight, all the real BYO places were closed, we decided to try Snack Dragon because it looked fun. I’m not even really sure how to describe this place, except for a random spot with a cool vibe and delicious tacos. My friend had the Chorizo and Freshly-Slayed Dragon tacos while I had a Quinoa taco and a Quack and Cheese(aka Quinoa Mac n Cheese). I hadn’t intended to order so much Quinoa, but OMFG, was the Quack and Cheese good. The other tacos were really good, though slightly pricey, but we talked about the Quack and Cheese for days. It’s basically herbed quinoa topped with cheese and good salsa. I’ve even begun devising how I can make it at home. I’ll be back!

The tacos were decent, but not really worth the value at about $ 4 – 5 a taco. I would prefer a taco truck like Taco Morelos in the East Village. It was also weird paying as they highly recommended giving a tip when the place was a hole in the wall and they just gave us some tacos on a place. I don’t expect to really pay tip when I go to a pizza place, but somehow they pressured me into doing so here. The tacos weren’t bad and if you’re really in the mood in the LES, I guess this place does it, but I still go elsewhere generally for tacos.

«I want tacos… yummy yummy tacos!» is what my stomach chants about once a month. One of my favorite foods is street tacos. Sigh, however this is not one of those amazing places you can find in LA but it hits the spot when I’m suffering from one of those taco cravings. I know there are some new places that have opened up in bk that are«supposedly» just as good, but I have yet to make that trek to bk yet. I just tried the nachorita last Saturday and I must say, it’s pretty yummy, its bascially a tostada cut into 4 pieces. On a side note, I love that they have tapatio sauce on hand, its one of my favorite sauces. Gets an extra star for having this sauce.

I popped in here to get a quick bite while roaming the LES. I got the fish taco and sat down at one of the table in the back. Great mood lighting, I can see this place buzzing late at night. If you like that divey randomly put together look. It’s cute! Once I pick up my taco everything falls out the bottom. :(I ate it with a fork and it was pretty darn good! especially since the counter girl didn’t have a full functioning kitchen, she did her tang! The tortilla was blue fun! The sauce was pretty good, the fish was flakey and not too fishy and the slaw was crispy. The counter gal was very friendly, chatted up with me like I was a regular and gave me an honest opinion about the choice between the chicken and fish taco. I’ll give the place a 3.5, I really should have gone to the bathroom, that could have been the tipper. But if i’m randomly in the LES(which is quite possible) again I’ll stop on by and try the chicken taco.

Enjoyed a chorizo taco here after some drinking. Yummy toppings that were really fresh. Frankie took awesome care of me and was the real reason I even came in to check the place out.

Snack Dragon doesn’t have a big menu, but they do make all their food with love in their heart. I know because you can taste it. I mean I could taste it in my late night order of Nacharitas, a crispy corn tortilla covered in carne asada, topped with black beans, cheese, homemade salsa, and lime(hold the sour cream and cilantro for me, but you can definitely get it.) Better yet? This little snack only cost me a few bucks. They also have some tasty drinks like homemade sangria or a really refreshing raspberry seltzer made with real raspberries. The staff working here the night I went was so friendly it was literally like having a friend cook for me. And we were in and out of there in no time, but never felt rushed. It’s not a huge space so I don’t know that you want to roll in here with all of your friends, but it is quite nice if you’re alone or with a small posse.

Man, I was so drunk last night when Sean M and I wandered into this place that you could have served me wood shavings wrapped in toilet paper and I would have loved it. We actually first ducked in here to use the bathroom as after a full night of abusing our livers we were about to explode. All of a sudden we realized we were starving. Tacos here we come! Quinoa Pilaf taco was on-point! Carne Asada taco was meaty goodness! Freshly Slayed Dragon taco was a monster! Chorizo taco was mucho delicioso! All in blue corn soft tacos. Al types of hot sauce to use. Hot damn! Slap me upside the head with yo momma’s frying pan — this was the cracka’ lackin’ bomb when the drunk munchies took over! The one lady working the counter was laid back and made suggestions on what to order. Had the place to ourselves and we kicked back on some of the tables in the small dining area and feasted. Sean looked at me and said we need more — second round was immediately ordered. Cash only, but at $ 3-$ 5 for each taco it is easy on the wallet. Now I know what I want to eat again when I am a drunk mess on the LES!

Shamelessly, I could eat tacos for every meal. So you can imagine my excitement upon learning that a new taco shop was opening down the street. Lower East Side is making it easy to be a taco fanatic. You have La Barra’s taco happy hour. Barrio Chino. and Snack Dragon is a welcome addition to my taco vendor trifecta. The fish tacos are DABOMB. The blue corn tortilla. the fresh, crunchy red cabbage slaw. the tender, flaky seasoned filet… all incredible. Complete with a selection of wonderful bottled hot sauces to choose from. Excited to try the Quack N Cheese and other offerings soon.
