Mr & I learned about Showplace Antique & Design Center as we were searching for locations boasting vintage treasures. The setup of the place reminded me a little of the Louvre des Antiquaries in Paris, in the fact the building holds 3 levels of vendor stalls where vintage jewelry, clothing, collectibles and home designs are on display. We saw some jewelry, dresses /lingerie, some furniture /lamps /statues, lots of jade & porcelain vases, figurines, etc… Very far & few between will you see signed pieces. Most are costume, replicas, or unsigned but we did see maybe 1 or 2 Tiffany rings on display. If you’re a hunter, I’m sure there is much more to be found «Showplace» also reminded us of Louvre des Antiquaries in the fact that many of the vendor stalls were closed. Signs saying some were only open by appointment, some only on weekdays(when we were there but they were still closed) and some stating they were only open on weekends and 1 even stating it was only open on Sundays. We were there on a Friday & felt like we got a great overview of all they had to offer. Even the places that were closed had business cards to take or at least posted, so we could get in touch w/the owner for further inquiries Worth a look for sure!

An odd duck of an antique mall. Reminded me very much of Gray’s in London(without a river in the basement!). Many dealers were closed on the weekend, which I found odd. The organization of each little unit varies greatly from dealer to dealer, but I think it would be nicer to visit when all the places were open.

They get 5 stars and are worth every bit. Have a walk thru and see for yourself. The Shops come to life on Sunday’s. The third floor is open daily along with select fine dealers in the front as you walk in. Treasures of the universe is in the front left and offers incredible eclectic expertise, fourth generation antique merchants. Other dealers offer many other products. Café in lower level and elevators available to view all six floors of this NYC Gem.

How much would a gigantic glass cowboy hat cost? How much would a uncredited framed photo from 1950s NYC cost? How much would 2 old-looking, crusty turtle character salt & pepper shakers cost? How much would a 1970’s couch cost? How much would your old grandma’s jewelry cost? How much would a rusty knife cost? What if the rusty knife had a matching rusty fork? You can find all of these things and thousands more at the 4 level Showplace. It’s a fantastic place to wander around. It’s amazing, because you probably can’t afford any of it. The gigantic glass cowboy hat is on the top floor, sitting on a table. I think it’s selling for $ 300. It seems like the perfect place for film studios to stop by and pick up a ton of trinkets for background placement. There’s also a bathroom on the top floor, which is great if you’re in the area! Closes at 6, so it’s not an all-night option.

I really love this place. Always have a great selection of vintage costume jewelry. A few dealer specializes in selling antique fine jewelry. You have to see all of the amazing stuff in here to truly appreciate it. Don’t forget to go downstairs there is a guy that specializes in cuff links and another dealer on the same lane who has phenomenal fine jewelry pieces. think 14kt Victorian snake rings huge chunky modernist sterling pieces and lovely jade at a reasonable price. I don’t remember his booth name but hes downstairs on the same lane as the cuff link guy and he is Asian. upstairs is also cool tons of mid century modern furniture and also jewelry booths that you should not miss out looking at as many are reasonably priced. beware most of the dealers are closed on the weekdays and open only on the weekend. which I think is strange ?!

Vintage Lingerie… Styled by Illisa. I went to the Hell’s Kitchen Flea Market to check things out and stumbled upon this INCREDIBLELINGERIESHOP! Illisa has been called on for the last 25 yrs by the Entertainment Industry to help style the cast. If you are looking for those special one of a kind pieces that will make you feel apart of that era you must stop in the Vintage Lingerie Shop.
