Incredibly overpriced for what is essentially a basic haircut that is no different than any other standard barber. Also very sneaky about additional add-on charges(eg, $ 8 extra for a «premium» cut with wash that I did not ask for and even declined the wash; $ 2 extra to pay by credit card), and were quite rude when I simply asked about the charges. So many other nearby barbers that are friendlier and half the price. Would not recommend to anyone.

Salvatore is the best. It took me a long time to find a barber who met with my teenage son’s approval. Lots of bad experiences until we found Sal. Basic barber shop with great service and a perfect haircut for men. We bought my husband a gift certificate so he could try Sal and now he is addicted, too. Prices are quite reasonable and Sal is just a really nice guy and terrific barber. All around great experience.

Rip-off and Goldman-Sachs-exec-sniffer Mostly come here due to convenience. But never coming back again due to below: Salvatore the owner is constantly sniffing or on the look out for Goldman executives or God-forbid a Goldman partner walks in through the door. He will gladly abandon you and pass you to another colleague even if he’s in the middle of cutting your hair! This happen to me once. Second, for their level of skills it is very over-priced. Tons of much better salons in Soho and the village does much better job cheaper. Salvatore himself may be able to do a decent job but only for important people. So don’t expect anything outstanding if you are not at least a VP at Goldman. He will be quite suave and charming to a Goldman exec though. So they do come here for some ego-boost I suppose. Lastly, perhaps even Goldman people next door don’t come here often. They are never busy in the few times I visited and when Salvatore ask you how much you want to put on the credit card for tip, he has the audacity to round up the total. I.e. Somehow $ 37 + $ 10 tip = $ 50! Or maybe he can’t add. U

They do a decent haircut but as others have said, a men’s haircut is $ 38. This is misleading but what’s worse is there credit card policy. I have gotten about 6 haircuts here and 5 times the credit card machine was«not working». They were happy to point me to an ATM, which I would have to pay a fee on. It’s clear they don’t want to accept cards and don’t even allow tips on card. This caused me to have to go back the following day to tip my barber. They didn’t mind this, but they did mind me coming back for another reason… I will also say the quality of haircuts definitely differ from barber to barber. I noticed my hair in the back of my head was much longer than the front and I went in asking to have it corrected(the next day). I have never seen someone get so offended — Tina was extremely rude in response and told me how«no one has ever come back to my chair» and«I need to say something before I leave next time». I realize people make mistakes, but they are clearly not willing to fix them. This was a «one-time deal». Between that and their shady credit card practices, I will not be going back.

Classic and phenomenal barber shop. Sal is classy, professional and amazing — I told him about my hair and he was able to cut it perfectly; I got so many compliments. Jerry is very detailed and precise, great haircut too. They’re not that pricey but for the quality — can’t go wrong(remember you’ll wear it for 1 – 2 months, so make sure you’re proud of your hair).

Very pleased with my experience. This place is more of a barber shop than a salon, and it offers great service at a reasonable price(at least for lower Manhattan). I got my hair cut by Angelo, and he did a great job – very focused on giving me exactly the cut I wanted.

Great service. At $ 30 a cut, it’s somewhat expensive, but not a problem for the GS regulars next door, right? Anyways, they do a very precise job, using a variety of different razor heads and slowly working their way through your entire scalp. In the end, they wash your hair so you can walk out without dangling bits of hair. 80⁄100

I started going to Salvatore’s when I worked at WFC. I now work in midtown and still head down to Salvatore’s to get my haircut. Franco does a great job. Highly recommend.

This is a go to salon for my husband and my 4 year old son. It’s very clean, hygienic salon with a very experienced staff. They do a very detailed cut — even on my 4 year old. They are friendly and wonderful people.

After a year in the widerness of having to deal with other barbers while Goldman Sachs remodeled the old Embassy Suites(and kept Sal to themselves) I finally have my barber back. There isn’t a barber in Manhattan better than Sal, for my money. He does a great job, and is a great human being as well. Having him back makes things ok again!
