If I could give zero stars I would. This is a horrible establishment in a nice quiet neighborhood. Average age inside is maybe 16 years old. Every weekend someone is either getting arrested or vomiting outside my building. I once saw a kid get knocked out with his head bleeding on the sidewalk. NYPD does nothing. Atrocious — avoid at all costs.

I just became legal to drink and I felt extremely old walking into this bar. The average age looked to be about 19 years old, music is great, but the crowd is very, very young.

Unless you are here for game day I wouldn’t go here unless someone paid me enough to retire. Cops are constantly breaking up fights, crowd is super aggressive, over served at the bar and people are puking on the small business doorsteps while waiting in a massive line to get in. Seriously, do yourself and your criminal record a favor and don’t go! Once week later– once again, was in the hood– and two three men started choke holding eachother(bouncer did nothing). They were screaming derogatory and racist names that were racist and homophobic. Be forewarned.

For what it is, like everyone has described– It’s great. I am no longer in my early 20’s– so I no longer frequent Saloon, however I am happy that a place like this exists for the younger crowd to be able to safely have fun and let loose without the pretense or $$$$ that discriminates people from enjoying themselves in the city on occasion. Reasonable drink prices, great staff, sometimes a good Dj/sometimes not so great– but always a fun time with such a large dance floor(not surrounded by bottle service tables and feeling like part of a harem is increasingly rare now.) I’m not sure what other reviewers are talking about the underage drinking? I’ve always seen the staff be thorough and professional, and never met anyone inside under 21. Some folks in their early 20’s may still look like they are 19– and if that makes people uncomfortable, its their own issues. I often go to Sojourn’s for wine with friends and live music and the crowd is more mature– I enjoy myself none the less. I wouldn’t say or think to myself«this place is for/full of old people.» That is just rude and condescending. Great for a little dancing and being silly with a small or larger group of friends, without the hassle of going downtown, waiting in lines and needing to wear heels to make the dress code. That being said, in heels, I had easy access to the downtown«hot spots» — but I’ve always had the most fun at Saloon overall. I’ve always felt safer there than the larger, more exclusive clubs because the staff seriously looks after the women and are on top of people who may be out of control. Me and a friend once had complained subtly about a creepy guy who had grabbed my friend’s wrist and wouldn’t let go of it under the bar, it was so odd and weird– they watched him and shortly after escorted him out and thanked us. Its a kind of place where you are free to make the Fun. If you are expecting this spot to personally cater a good time for you in terms of ambiance, atmosphere and feeling special surrounded by a «cool» crowd– you will be disappointed. Maybe its really because you are boring and shallow. Ive brought friends here who once they walked inside said«Omg, were did you bring us? This place is kinda ratchet… lol» but in the end they had a blast letting loose. It always end with«Omg, remember that cheese ball place you took us to in your neighborhood? That was a fun night!» Bring your Bf here after a heartbreak– perfect starter cure, trust me :) For the right crowd/mood it is simple, classic, accessible fun — 4 star for that!

Nypd would cover their monthly expenses if they ever raided this place. 19 is average age and drunk kids screaming outside til 4am because bouncers are too busy trying to get laid. I work in nightlife and never seen such a lazy irresponsible staff. Avoid this place unless you want to bro out or are still using fake id’s

Came here for a charity event. The place is just a regular bar, not a wide collection of drinks. Bartender was a bit rude. Definitely a place for a young crowd to get a relatively cheap drink.

Good music but it’s loaded with people who are the fresh out of colllege. Great for a local drink but don’t expect anything nice. Also great for a little dancing.

Bought tickets for Nye. Waited on a line for an hour. They sold too many tickets over capacity in order to make money.

This place was more fun than I expected. Came with a group of people rather late on a Saturday night(Sunday morning?) and they had great music going that we danced to the entire night, and cheap drinks. Glad I found this place on the UES, it’s fun and close to home!

Came here on a saturday night at around 7:30pm. The place was dirty and service was not friendly. I left quickly after having one drink. There are so many better bars on the upper east side, I will not come back here.

Maybe this place just passed its prime. Went here on a firday for an open bar that cost $ 40? whatever the girls were making them Stifffffff(blackout implied). There was like no one in here maybe 50 people tops and the place has a huge dance floor. If people actually went here it might be cool cause Im a guy who loves a good dance floor. Worst part about the saloon? the annoying shot girl who walks around and cons you into buying 5 $ shots after yoiuve paid for an open bar. Come on guys Im a genius do you really think I paid that dirt squirrel $ 5 for a shot. Cant say the same for my girlfriend who decided to buy one after the shot girl practically placed it in her hand What can I say the majority of the world just isnt as smart as me. Dont come here unless youre pregaming on the upper east side. O wait… they almost always charge a cover. Wish I could comment on the bathroom(as I like to do when i review bars/clubs) but I forgot everything that happened after Gin and Tonic #2.

I can’t really speak on what this bar is like at night, but on saturday’s during football season it is a strict florida state bar! For this purpose, I think it’s a great bar! I’m a pseudo FSU fan by way of my roommate, and we came saturday to watch a game and had a great time! There are tons of fans everywhere(needless to say)!! It was crowded but not so crowded that you can’t move as some fan bars can be. They have lots of tv’s everywhere(obviously) and a few tv’s playing some of the other big games that day which is nice. I like the vibe of the bar, and the bartenders are really nice. They have really good drink specials too, a bucket of 6 bud lights for only $ 18 on game day. You can also make reservations if you have a group for some of the big tables they have. Overall if you are looking to watch the FSU game on the UES, this is your spot!

Solidly underwhelming. I was there on a Saturday night and the place, while huge, was empty. There were maybe, MAYBE30 people there, and they all seemed to be a group of friends. I know they face an uphill battle with their location, but still. The place was dead. This being said, I think that this is probably a great place if you are planning an event/happy hour/mixer and don’t want to pay to reserve space. My impression is that the place is consistently empty, so if you were to find yourself organizing a get together for a group, it would probably be like having your own space.

Dive bar. Came here with a friend after a Zog game. Beer pong tables were set up, but there were only 6 or so tables. Miller Lite on tap. The other food and drinks are below average. The diet coke tasted generic(meaning it was FAKEDIETCOKE). Also, this place doesn’t serve hamburgers! Say whaaaat.

The name Saloon reminisce old films depicting the West of American old-fashion saloon bars. I came here for my high school classmate(go Stella!) good friend’s birthday celebration, Bridget O’Connor, who also debuted as guest bar tender. Bridget made all guests feel welcome and comfortable to mingle among each other as meeting for the first time. She made me my first champagne cocktail which I greatly enjoyed, amid at a eye popping $ 8.00. Saloon has a nice space for dancing and/or mingling area. With no shortage, there are a large numbers of large screen TVs for sports fans to awe in New York fashion of rowdiness for their baseball or World Cup team(s). To my complete utter dismay, a $ 5.00 cover admission fee is required along with valid identification for age verification of 21 years and above on a Friday night. Personally, I loathe venues with any cover fees as it only grants admission no food or drink included. Facilities are located on the lower level and a couch is available for breaks from mingling, monster truck volume music, and rowdiness from sport fans. The music is a good selection of Michael Jackson’s infamous«Black or White» and Prince’s renowned«Purple Rain.» N.B. I strongly recommend eating dinner elsewhere prior to arriving at Saloon as alcohol on a empty stomach is not good.
