I’ve been going to Saint Laurie for years. Andy and his team do a great job at making every custom garment perfect. When necessary, Andy calls on his experts in each area — vests, coats, buttonholes, etc. — to ensure everything is to your satisfaction. He offers helpful fashion advice from his years of experience in the business, but will ultimately do whatever you want if it is something esoteric. Most importantly he made a morning suit for my wedding, which he worked on until it was perfect.

Ive been going to st lauries since 2011 when I had a custom tux made and love the service. Andy, the owner, will guide you through the process with his knowledge of fabrics, what works will with a given body type and provide that honest feedback that we sometimes need(Its not about the sale but the service). The head cutter, Umberto is an old school italian trained in the naploitano style with a sharp eye for getting curves accurate. Andys sons are also involved in the process bringing a little modern touch to timeless pieces. The experiance itself is one catered for men, there is no rushing to make decisions, no trying to get you to purchase expensive fabric, there is a patience with customers that is rarely seen today. He wont push a particular fabric or mill on you(like some bloggers out there), just good old experiance from a well dressed veteran. I haven’t shopped in a «mens» store since I discovered St Laurie. To sum up in a simple phrase, clothes from st lauries are like tatoos, you cant just have one!

Fantastic work, exceptional and extremely handcrafted suits. The whole experience was flawless and it is by far the best tailored suit I have ever had! Strongly recommend Saint Laurie. Andy himself is driven by perfection and doesn’t rest until he gets there.

The first time I ever walked into Saint Laurie, I was an 18 year old kid from California, never worn a suit in my life, and couldn’t afford anything but one suit of the most basic fabric they had. Even so, from day one Andy and his staff treated me with the same attention and respect as if I were a VIP client. Probably two years passed by before I finally saved enough money to get a second suit, and when I came back, again I was welcomed as if I were a long lost VIP client. Life has been good to me since then, and over time my clothing budget became increasingly a nonissue, but there has never been any doubt in my mind since those first experiences, that whatever I’d be able to spend on clothing, I would spend it with Saint Laurie. Andy Kozinn is the 3rd generation owner of this 100 year old family company, and you can really tell the pride he has for his work. There are so many things they do here in addition to tuxedos — suits, coats, shirts, pants, jackets, cufflinks, pocket squares, ties, belts — and the way Andy tells stories about all these clothes can only be the product of passion beyond even just wanting to deliver great customer service. He’ll tell you about the different fabrics, the histories behind the mills that weave them, the evolution in how people have dressed over the past century, what was iconic, what innovations are taking place, how clothing is made; I really don’t think this level of service is possible anywhere outside a family business that’s established and passed down for generations the way Saint Laurie has been. When Andy welcomes you into the store each time, he makes you feel like family. Businessmen here in New York have a bit of an obsession over suits and classic menswear, and I always get a kick out of what great value Saint Laurie seems to deliver. I ordered the first suit I’ve ever worn from Andy and every suit I’ve ever worn since. I haven’t personally shopped around to see how the prices here compare, but I’ve gotten so many compliments over the years from immaculately dressed men who guess that my suits cost twice and thrice what I paid for. All the clothes I’ve ever gotten at Saint Laurie have fit so precisely, worn so comfortably, and lasted so durably throughout the years. This is a company of amazing clothiers delivering fantastic value and truly world class service. After coming here for these many years, I’m at a point where not a day goes by anymore where I’m not reaching for something made by Saint Laurie when I get dressed in the mornings, and I may very likely end up being a customer for life.

I have been a customer of Saint Laurie for over 15 years. The reasons I keep coming back are the exceptional service, workmanship and the variety and quality of their fabrics, all of which are second to none. My latest order which I just picked up included a couple lighter weight tropical suits which will be perfect for the upcoming summer months. Their attention to even the smallest detail is incredible. They make sure that your suits fit and look perfect on you when it is time for you to take them home, if necessary making minute final adjustments right on the spot before you leave. As always, I was 100% satisfied. Other items I have bought from Saint Laurie include year-round and heavier weight suits, dress shirts, trousers and sport jackets, all custom made. They also have a fabulous selection of ties. I can’t begin to count the number of compliments I have received over the years on my ties from Saint Laurie. Andy’s knowledge of his craft is encyclopedic. As you are looking through the fabric selection, Andy can relate to you the history of the mill that produced the fabric and the different qualities of each one. You can tell that he really loves what he does and it makes the entire experience a true pleasure. If you are looking for fine tailoring and excellent service, you really cannot go wrong with Saint Laurie.

Despite reading the disgruntled review below, my husband and I decided to go with Saint Laurie for his wedding tux based on everything we personally saw/heard when we went to visit the shop, which left us with the feeling that we would be in good hands. Two weeks after our wedding, I’m happy to report that it was the BEST choice we could’ve made! They were FANTASTIC!!! The custom tux they made for my husband was absolutely unbelievable. Top notch workmanship, fit and quality. These guys are the real deal — old school and masters in the art of the tux. In terms of skill and knowledge, they are the best of the best. At the same time, while they tend towards towards classic looks, they were very accommodating with my husband’s preferences, offering tailored suggestions and advice based not only on history/tradition, but my husband’s build and proportions(tall and lean) and his aesthetic sense(fitted, sleek, a combination of elegance and edginess). With their guidance, my husband decided to go with a navy tux with a black shawl lapel. To keep the look sleek, he opted not to wear a cummerbund or suspenders. After returning from his final fitting, he told me that the tuxedo pants were the best fitting pants he has ever worn. On the wedding day, my groom looked like the European equivalent of James Bond! Which makes me pretty much the luckiest girl ever! :) A shop like this is hard to find. Personalized service, deep knowledge, unrivaled expertise and quality, and superior craftsmanship rooted in long tradition but forward-looking when it suits. Saint Laurie delivered us a truly unparalleled experience, and you would be doing yourself a favor by dropping in to see them!

If I could give this tailor negative stars I would. AVOIDATALLCOSTS. My husband and I had the worst experience getting a tuxedo made for him for our wedding I made it a point to take the time to write the below review. First, my husband did his own due diligence on tailors when it came down to getting a custom-made tuxedo for our wedding and he picked this one based upon the positive reviews and fairly decent prices(for custom-made tuxedos in NYC). The reviews, upon closer look, were all from the 90s when this tailor was, by all accounts, decent. ITISNOLONGER. Even the offices are dingy and the bathroom is unfit to send clients to use. Second, my husband’s reasons for getting a tux made for our wedding, rather than buying one off the rack, were(1) that it would fit better(he’s hard to fit off the rack) and(2) a custom-made tuxedo would be about the same price of a high end tuxedo at saks(armani, etc.) after it was tailored. Price-wise he was correct; fit-wise he was not. Ultimately he paid way too much money for a tuxedo that he will never wear again. PROBLEMNO. 1. The man who runs this tailor is not himself a tailor. He has no vision, nor any insight into how to correct an improperly made piece of clothing. This is a gigantic problem as he had to «call in» his workers for consultations. This, in my opinion, is a very bad sign at any tailoring shop. PROBLEMNO. 2. THETUXEDOWASMADESOPOORLYITDIDNOTFITMYHUSBAND. Yes, you read that correctly, the TAILOR, was unable to make a tuxedo that fit my husband for $ 4000 despite the fact that his normal suit-maker does it regularly(La Rukiko). The pants literally bulged in the crotch, the crotch was lopsided, the pants bottom was so TIGHT it pulled, the pant legs were baggy, the jacket was too boxy, the tuxedo shirt was too long and the shirt neck too wide. PROBLEMNO. 3. The tailor was so defensive when I pointed out how improperly the suit fit that instead of trying to fix it, their first reaction was to try to convince me that I was seeing things. Yes, that’s right, they BLAMEDME when I asked them to fix the tux. First, they tried to explain that that’s the way suits fit as if I was born yesterday and we hadn’t come to them to make a custom-made tuxedo that fit him. For example, my husband did not want to wear suspenders or a cumberbund. I tried to get him to change his mind, but a lot of people aren’t wearing them these days, he’s in great shape, and he didn’t want one. He told them this at the beginning. Then they proceeded to take 9 weeks to make tuxedo pants that FELLDOWN without suspenders. When I pointed it out, they explained that you have to wear suspenders or cumberbunds with the pants, as if we hadn’t had a 3 hour meeting about how my husband didn’t want to. He had to then buy suspenders because the pants would not fit otherwise. Throughout this process, when I kept asking what their solutions were for all the problems the tailor asked if I was threatening him, instead of saying, «don’t worry, we’ll fix it!» They never did fix it. Or even offer to. PROBLEMNO. 4. Which brings me to the underlying problem with this tailor: they cater to the theater industry and are not used to individuals’ wants and desires. They are the OPPOSITEOFBESPOKE. They work from patterns, they rely on unskilled tailors, and they cannot cater to individual body types and wants. Ironically, all the actors wearing their stage-clothes that plaster their walls would never in a million years buy a suit here in real life. With so many other options in NYC, it’s honestly shocking that this tailor is still in business. They should at the very least stop marketing themselves to individuals(whom they are not prepared to deal with) and cater only to the theater industry.
