I would give this place a 3.5 if I could. My experience at Rouge was good but not great. They took me on time and were super friendly. The person who did my make-up did a pretty good job — not as good as the person from Rouge downtown. When I left Rouge downtown, I looked like I was ready for a photoshoot. After leaving Rouge uptown, I looked a bit more polished but nothing special. Another issue I had with Rouge uptown was the products used. Downtown they use a wide variety of brands — the best of the best. No brand loyalty. I can’t say the same thing for the uptown Rouge. They use a ton of Becca and Lipstick Queen — 2 brands that I don’t particularly care for. We couldn’t find a lipstick that looked good on me — typical of Lipstick Queen as they are mostly corals, purples and bubblegum pinks. At Rouge downtown, I bought the lipstick they used on me(made by an indie brand). By the time I got home, the Becca eyeliner they used on me was starting to smudge. Again, I purchased the eyeliner they used on me downtown(L’Oreal). The woman who did my make-up said that this particular location only used Becca and Lipstick Queen products, but wasn’t sure why. Me neither… I would probably come back but not before checking the availability at the other make-up studios on the UES. I hear that MAC just opened one…

Stopped in for their custom lipstick bar and it was fantastic and I love my custom color! It was only $ 30 which is so reasonable considering what you might pay for a lipstick at Sephora. Everyone who works here was so friendly, helpful, and fun. In addition to the custom lipstick you can do nail polish and lip gloss. Would love to come back to have my makeup done next time I’m going out.
