Worst dentist ever. Depleted our insurance then retired! Will file male practice and insurance fraud lawsuit. If it takes a lifetime in court to assure that his last few days on planet weren’t enjoyed… But instead rotting away in court it’s worth it! Hey Dr. Topal, if you or your children ever read this… I hope your plane crashes as you flee the country and flee justice!

Dr. Topal completely botched my child’s orthodontia and now we have to have the work redone by another orthodontist at great expense. I intend to file a complaint with the attorney general’s office. It’s been a really terrible experience.

Just wanted to give a shout out to Dr. Topal. I am getting my orthodontic work done in California and I recently got back to NYC just to realize that my brace wire was ripping up the back of my cheek. The procedure to fix this is straightforward — you just need someone with the right tool to clip the wire in the back of your mouth. I called a place on Canal St(which shall remain unnamed) to see if they could do this and without skipping a beat they quoted me $ 50. For something that takes less than 5 min to do, this is outrageous. I called Dr Topal’s office and they said they would do it gratis as a courtesy to my orthodontist in California! I came in, filled in some forms, and Dr Topal came in and just clipped the wire for me and said that in case of «easy» orthodontic needs like this, just to call him up and set an appointment, and there will be no charge. He is also a really funny guy who asked me what I was doing in New York.(Well, the answer is complicated, it truly is. So basically I just said I was visiting, and as far as orthodontics go, it’s true.) I know that pro-bono things don’t get Dr. Topal paid. But his office seems professional and he seems to know his stuff. Just by looking at me he knew what my orthodontist intended to do with my braces, what the spring was there for, why I had two extra teeth taken out, and even that I eventually needed to get orthognathic surgery. So, if you are looking for a place to get orthodontic work done on the West Side, I heartily endorse Dr. Topal as an all-around good doctor and nice guy… who seems to have an affection for Looney Tunes ties. :)
