Clean shop. Father and son, very courteous people. Got a great haircut for a great price. Would not hesitate getting a cut there if you are in the neighborhood. Nice to see a family owned business. Thank you Arthur for a great haircut. And all the best Roman to you and your son.

I have been getting my haircut at Roman’s Barber Shop for at least five years. The guys are great at giving a quick haircut when you are in a hurry. It’s worth the $ 14 dollars. They added a hot towel neck rub when you get cleaned up with a razor. It’s a great quick haircut that is so much cheaper than a salon here in Manhattan that can charge over $ 60 for a haircut.

This is where I have been getting my hair cut and my kids, for the past few years. It is sort of old school, but in a very good way. The guys are very laid back, not hyper like a lot of other shops I have been to before. And I have never seen any cray customers, needing some unattainable idiotic look, so its peaceful here also. They will give you whatever and exactly what you want, which I have had problems accomplishing with other shops in the neighborhood. The barbers are very friendly and polite. The prices have gone up a little now to $ 16.00 and fully worth it.

I started working in the area recently and thought I’d get a haircut around the area during lunch instead of waiting until I get back to Brooklyn. Unfortunately, a search of barber shops in the area brought me to this place. Had my haircut by the younger guy, who simply put is just a piece of shit. To start, he started shaving the sides of my head before asking what number I wanted, when I asked him what number he was using, he asked«what number do you usually use?» That’s not what I asked, but I humored him and said«3», to which he replied with an attitude that that is the number he’s using. Great start. The haircut took about 5 minutes as he rushed through it as if he had someplace to be despite the shop being completely empty and the other barber just sitting around doing nothing. Cut was uneven and I’ll probably have to get it fixed at my regular Brooklyn barber soon enough. He actually completely missed two long hairs right above my ear that looked pretty ridiculous considering the rest of my hair was fairly short. When I looked in the mirror to see if my sideburns were cut relatively even(surprise, upon further inspection later, they weren’t, not even close), he gave me a dirty look and I said I was just looking to see if they were even. He replied in a stereotypical black voice«of course dey are, wats wrong wit yo ass». Because rather than look again himself and address my concern, it makes a lot more sense to make an incredibly poor attempt at humor. At this point I just wanted out of there, but there was no way I tipping my usual 4 bucks for that, so I gave him two, to which he immediately said something in a foreign language to the other barber that included the word«tip», because going out of your way to say something in another language about a customer right in front of them is great business. Overall I’d say getting your haircut in this place is an incredibly unpleasant experience and I’d sooner shave my head than go back there. I’d advise you go anywhere else.

Great service and very friendly. Get a haircut by thr father or son, the guy in the back should not be allowed to cut hair

Terrible, truly unprofessional business. The younger guy is a complete douchebag. I live right above them and everyday they try to get me to come into a shop for a quick trim. And everyday I have to ignore them and walk on. Getting a haircut here is about as fun as having an ingrown butt hair and the results are always bizarre.

Great haircut from either guy. Once had a woman(wife of owner?) and she was horrendous. To the ppl who say they don’t tip or tip $ 1, are you nuts? $ 12 haircut and u can’t give a $ 3 tip? That’s lame.

I’ve gotten a few haircuts here and it’s just gotten worse every time; after last time, I’m done. Stay away — these guys are just trash. On my last trip, Roman, apparently the name of the pudgy sleaze who owns the place, threw a fit after I asked him to make the sides of my head less puffy and round. Buddy: I said, «Not too short,» not, «Make me look like an owl.» Then, after he went back to work for about five seconds without shortening anything, I tipped him $ 2 instead of my usual $ 4 — and he dropped it on the chair in front of my face with an elaborate flick of the wrist. Such disrespect. And the other, younger guy, who I believe might be his son, is absentminded and hostile. I told him I had a wedding the next day and he gave left the FRONT of my hair untouched — visibly, awkwardly longer than the rest of my hair — and told me I was ready for the wedding. I had to ask him to finish it up.

It’s a real barebones place(where else are you going to find a $ 12 Downtown), but sometimes that’s nice too. It’s a place for men who don’t want intricate ‘do’s’, they just want to look at skin-mags while they wait(a plus in my book) and get a basic haircut quickly.

I got the younger dude who was cussing the whole time in a very sad, colloquial vocabulary, asking me if I had been to the bar around the block, commenting on how the«bitches» there were hot. He also kept snapping his fingers by my ears which made me think that his equipment might be disassembling though I think he has a rare psychological tic perhaps from his past life as a gypsy. Awkward conversation to say the least and a lousy haircut that took all of 2 minutes to boot. He did such a wack ass job that when I got home I had to shave my head. Fuck that dude and fuck this shit hole.

Great, no-nonsense place to get your hair done. There are always two guys on staff; I go with the older Russian guy, but have no reason to knock the younger kid. Sometimes a wait if you go at lunchtime or right after work, but that’s because they’re in demand. A quick clippers and scissors cut, with a straight-razor shave on the neck and sideburns, I think is now $ 12 plus your tip.

I would recommend avoiding this barber shop. I was in a pinch and had to go somewhere other than my normal barber, my office is a block from Romans so I walk by the shop almost every day. I figured it was worth trying. When I went into the shop I introduced myself to my barber who happened to be Roman, he verified he was the owner of the shop. I got my haircut, I wasn’t happy with the haircut but it wasn’t a «horrible» haircut. The price of a haircut is $ 12.00, I handed Roman a $ 20 and asked for $ 7 back. Under normal tipping etiquette tipping the owner of a barber shop/salon isn’t necessary or customary(this can be verified on almost any web resource on tipping) but I usually tip anyway in NYC(my usual barber is also an owner) because rents are so high for small businesses, etc. Roman questioned my $ 1.00 tip, when I stood firm and didn’t give him the $ 3 he wanted he said he didn’t want my tip at all and asked me not to come back«I don’t need business from people like you». I would recommend avoiding this barber shop, the haircut was mediocre and the service(from the owner) was horrible.

these getting days getting a good haircut in midtown is much like getting good head anaywhere… you’re always amazed and smiling at the end of it, while at a mirror! this haircuttery ain’t SUPERCUTS, but that’s a good thing! there are typically two barbers(one old and one young) on staff. both deliver solid cuts and are willing to hear your pedestrian request… like give me that«Brad Pitt do» which they will do… but you’ll still look like a ugly mope just with Brad Pitt’s coif. anyway this isn’t like some old school 50s barber shop with 80+ old men sitting around shiting the manure. it’s a small shop with about 5 chairs for customers to sit on while waiting… there’s a bevy of reading materials from the Post to Maxim to Playboy. the place is clean and well-maintained. it has a new feel to it. they cut with clippers and scisssors. they will bust out the old-school razor and warm shaving cream if you ask for a real shave or just to touch up your neck and sideburns at the end of a cut. they can wash your hair for a wash-cut-and-blow if you so choose. a normal haircut is $ 10 bucks. this is a good go-to place if you need a touch-up or if you’re a little long-in-the-ear and need to look a little more dashing for a meeting, date, or what-have-you. however if you have a normal haircuttery… this one is good if you’re one the go in the east 30s. i believe they only take cash or prefer it! one star off because this place is always busy!!!
